I also love the guys that get on here claiming "They have a legitimate shot to win 9 games and they have a great defense" and all of this other BS but yet come crying with their panties up in a bunch about how the bet should be honored. If there is a good chance of them winning nine then why did you make the bet? Cleary you are being dishonest on their chances to win 9. And yet you guys call pinny dishonest on their handling of this?

If you don't like their rules, then you shouldn't play there...

This situation has been clearly addressed in Pinnacle's rules, and they have every right to abide by them...

Gamblers are taking cheap shots here, but the bottom line is Pinnacle acted on one of their in house rules...

Although I personally do not agree completely with the decision handed down in this case, Shrink makes a very solid point here.

The thing is, all offshore books have this "rule". In essence if a guy has a bet for 15-20 K on the Yankees and they are winning 15-0 in the top of the 9th, they couild in fact cancel that bet. As Pin would be "acting on one of their house rules".

I know that is extreme, but what if a guy bets 20K on a team at +110, and that teams is at -140 with 3 minutes to go til first pitch, what is to say Pin or any other book couldn't do the same thing? They could say that +110 was an obviouis "erroneous line", and take action all day, then cancel a bet that was way ahead of the curve. Afterall, they ca cancel ANY bet whenever they want. that doesn't leave a lot to the imaginations, these examples are extreme for sure, but most definately fall under the definition of ANY BET.

Pin is supposedly the leader in the foriegn sportsbook market, they are touted and held to an almost untouchable standard, yet it has been shown time and time again they screw up. But it takes an incident as glaring as this to show the "normal" bettors how bad they can and do screw up.

Bottomline is Pin is no different than any otherr book, and that they are just another out that is out there toplay at, nothing more, nothing less. they do have lowers holds than a lot of places, but in temrs of being some "super book" they are not.

about the line movement after the prop opened, I doubt there's a guy sitting behind a computer moving these lines around, it's all done with a computer program.

It was an obvious bad line. Okla St Under 8½ at even money. Thats insane. Bets should be cancelled.

Why is it insane? I am sure that all the other lines that have moved were also deemed "insane" by the people that bet them originally. I don't know how or where they start their original numbers, but I would assume they start at even minus their hold. In these cases I would expect -110 each way.

I also love how they now have Ok St up -105 each way at a total of 6, they would have been better off not posting them as an option at all. That blows all the "they weren't a team they wanted up" arguments right out of the water.

quote:
I see people debating whether 8.5 would be a correct number for Oklahoma State here. That's irrelavant if it's a case of the wrong team being listed. I'm not a fan of the standard house rule in which clearly bad lines are voided. But the reason I'm not a fan of this rule is due to cases that are not clear cut and at the book's discretion. But when it's a case of posting the wrong team name, it certainly falls under the house rule and thus should be voided. Take a look at the ordering of the teams -- alphabetical order. The rotation numbers are 137/138 for Notre Dame, then 139/140 for Ohio State, and then 141/142 for Oklahoma. There are no gaps in the numbers. If Oklahoma State was meant to be listed, they would have have been listed AFTER Oklahoma (note ordering of Florida and Florida State) and thus would not have had a rotation number of 139/140. My opinion is that Pinnacle made a clear mistake posting Oklahoma State instead of Ohio State and that it falls under the standard house rule for voiding bets. Thus, I believe Pinnacle has made the right decision here.

I agree with all this... wether or not the line was 'beleivable' or not is irrelevant... Pinny posted the line for a different team so it is automatically VOID...

Of course wether or not the RULE of being allowed to VOID bets due to BAD LINES is another debate... you can agree or disagree with this Perhaps that entire rule needs to be re-visited by Books...

HOWEVER... Under their rules... they did not do anything wrong... they posted a line they thought was for another team... realized their error... Then cancelled it. & sent emails to all customers. They have done no wrong....

All you crybabies should LOAD UP on the over. After all they had an excellent shot at winning nine didn't they? LOL. Simply ridiculous if you think that wasnt a bad line.

Pinnacle is an ELITE Sportsbook.

Not many other books who can say this. There are many other good ones as well, but Pinnacle has a model which is a tremendous asset to those who play there.

How so? It's not uncommon for Pinnacle to add new entries, often by request. Their recent WSOP lines are an example of this. The fact that the number is 6 rather than 8.5 gives more credence to it being a clear error.

what might be obvious to one individual is not so obvious to another, that is the problem with the "obvious bad line rule". the manner in which a book uses the line says alot about the book. olympic, for example, would never have cancelled this wager. very bush league imo.

Spots savant see my post directly above yours, Ok St is now listed at the bottom of the list. they were OBVIOUSLY meant to be an option.

At best, whom ever is proofreading thier lines made a mistake and whomever tracks one way action was asleep.

But Rohyal fan is right, anyone who thought 8.5 was plausible should bet the over. I am going to be watching that line move intently. If that line gets -190 to the over, and the pull it down, then there will be a definate problem.

Picasso,

with all the negativity this has gotten you think they would put it up on request? Not likely.

They made a mistake, end of story. BUT they TOOK ACTION, and MADE LINE MOVES, and it happened over a period of time.

The best thing they could have done would be to honor the wagers taken, then take down the bad number, asnd post up the new number, Obviously it gives the guys who bet the game at 8.5 a shot at two middles and a side, but they could handle those bets if they were made, and deal with those guys individually. At most it is a 500 dollar middle, again not a huge amount for such an "elite" book to eat if it did in fact hit.

But if they let the original bets stand, then stated there was an error and then said they would appreciate that player from refraining from taking a shot at middling them, that would probably let the player know the score.

Again, an ELITE book that had excellent customer service would have taken this route. But Pin doesn't have even good Custonmer Service, so it is a non issue.

Bottomline is they made a mistake, and are trying to act like it was nothing. but in fact is was something. It basically exposed that they make mistakes.

Like when Rocky hit Drago and cut him, and the quote was "he's bleeding, you cut him, he's not a machine, he's a man"

They aren't the unbeatable force that everyone fantacizes they are.

I don't think it's obvious at all. Offhand, two other possibilites come to mind:

1. After having their original bet voided, someone still wanted to bet on Oklahoma State and requested a line for them. As I said in a prior post, it's not uncommon for Pinnacle to add new entries.

2. Pinnacle wanted to show how clear an error it was by posting what the correct number should be. A 2.5 win difference is a blatantly clear error for college season wins.

want,

dont misunderstand me... I dont like the RULE in & of itself at all. & an honourable bookmaker like Pinnacle should stand behind the line they posted as long as it was not a GROSS error, & in this case it clearly was not...

If for example you Bet at B365 & you got Mike Tyson -2000 (true posted line) & then later you were shopping & you saw PINNY had TYSON at -800 (true posted line)... Of course this is a GROSS difference between the two....

WIll B365 allow you to cancel your wager if you claim this was obviously an ERROR or an attempted rip off...

NO THEY WILL NOT...

Yet Books get away with doing this to Players all the Time...

Based on their "POSTED" rules they did nothing wrong... & those "POSTED" rules are standard in the OFFSHORE industry...

HOWEVER... THOSE RULES ARE BULL S HIT!!!
redflip.gif

I would expect Books like Pinny, Oly & 365 & others to step up to the plate & take on this challenge for Premier Customer Service which is clearly not happening in these cases...
