It's funny how some fans are.

Before cooks gets traded every saints fan says how wonderful cooks is and every pats fans talks about how overrated cooks is.

Then he gets traded and saints fans start talking about how overrated he is and patriots fans call him the greatest thing since Randy Moss.

Then when pats fans thought they were gong to keep
butler he is an elite shutdown corner .

Now that they know he's leaving he sucks now and will be a bust

I happen to think Butler is a great corner in every way shape and form. I just don't see how Belichick gives up Butler for Cooks and giving up a first rounder for a third in exchange?

I totally agree with this sentiment. What Patriot's fans are you talking about Chop? I and others have said all along that Butler is a great cover corner, a smart corner, and a hitter and sure tackler. We want him here. Show us where any Patriot fan on this board said otherwise. And I'll say again that we didn't need Cooks. I really don't care how good he is or he isn't. Our offense is plenty good without him. We need Butler. If you get him I can assure you that you will pay more than a third round pick.

You cant look at this as an isolated trade.
This is just a completion of the first trade.
CBA rules, midnight roster bonuses , and other things prevented all this from happening in a Single trade.

The saints got much better offers for cooks then the pats gave.

So yes the saints will get butler for 3rd round pick on Friday .

That sounds a little low but when you add both trades together I think it's a pretty even trade at the end of the day .

But no you not getting a first round pick on Friday for butler

This is a bad trade by the Pats. Butler a top 10 cb is worth more than Cooks a small, fast wr who can be easily taken out of a game by defenses

A WR like Cooks is much easier to find than a CB like Butler. Don't understand why they want to jettison Butler so easily.
Don't understand why they paid Gilmore that much when he was the #2 CB in Buffalo.
None of this makes the Pats better in my opinion, honestly think their defensive backfield is going to be pedestrian and a problem all next season.

Butler, 1st, and 3rd round picks for Cooks, 4th, and 3rd round pick.

If this is the final deal then Belichick got taken in my opinion. Pats don't even get to keep the 4th round pick as they have to forfeit their best 4th round pick in deflate gate penalty...

Just an all around bad deal by Belichick on top of way over paying for Gilmore....

Also add in who knows if Cooks will even fit in here with his attitude issues.
He could be a huge headache in the locker room.

Another guy from Boston supporting the position that we need Butler. We didn't need Cooks.

C'mon Bill, sign us our boy. You'll get you and Tommy another ring.

I hate losing cooks but Thomas the new #1 with or without cooks. Thomas is about to be a top 3 receiver in the entire league .

Cooks is good no doubt but we need a good corner and I like this trade when you combine both of these trades into one.

I honestly think cooks fits the saints better then he fits the pats.

Brady owns the middle of the field and that's not cooks game.

Cooks is not very good at going over the middle and braking tackles .

But I said the whole super bowl that the pats have a big need for speed at the WR position and cooks gives them that.

He is probably going to finish 3rd on the team in catches behind Edelman and a healthy Gronk though.

He's not randy moss by any stretch of the imagination.
Hes not Antonio Brown or Steve Smith either .

Although his numbers are right up there with Moss, et: all after 3 years.
Keep in mind the Pats and Saints have had joint practices in the preseason. Belichick loved Cooks.

AND THIS JUST IN!
DONTE HIGHTOWER JUST RESIGNED WITH PATS!
Now if Butler resign with Pats.
Crown their ass!

Payton and Belichek are almost best friends.
No way they resign Butler.
They have had a handshake agreement for over a week.
Just doing all this Thursday visit stuff to avoid collusion or getting in trouble with the league.

3rd rounder this year and a conditional for next year is the deal .

If the Saints sign Butler, the Patriots get a first round pick

In order for a trade to happen, the Pats would have to sign Butler for the Saints and then trade him (I kinda think this is unlikely, sounds like rules might be twisted)

But I suppose it's plausible, and I'm no expect of roster rules

No they do not.

He is not signing a tender.

He is signing a contract with the Pats negotiated by the saints.
Then then the pats will trade him and his new contract to the saints for the agreed upon draft picks.

This completely voids the 1st round tender and I would be more then happy to make a $500 bet with you that the pats will NOT receive a first round pick for Butler. The chances of that happening
are exactly 0.

My point is butler is a good cb but he will end up just like every other defender on the Saints, garbage.

Saints could have Deion and Revis in their primes and they still would give up 400+ pass yds per game. Payton most overrated coach in league.
