So people who haven't served can't have opinions?

Opinions is all people like u have in life - nothing more - nothing less - and that's sorry if you ask the rest of us - sorry to distract u from talking about Donald Sterling some more

^^^ i agree and fully expect more kidnappings to happen made public soon because we have a fukking moron in office... i dunno what the best way to handle the situation would have been, but rolling over and giving in to demands like a fukking pussy, definitely isnt the best way to handle it... ignorant people will think Obama did a great job... ;+)-

i believe i would have started executing the men they wanted freed from Guantanamo before i let them go...

He is the only prisoner of war remaining - he had to be brought home - of course we should now fly a drone over his families house - if hes home - great - if not, we killed a monster with the same blood

In 2009, he left his post voluntarily. He had emailed his family telling them how upset with the war he was. He left without his weapon. Depending on what he says in his interviews, it's quite possible he will be charged under the UCMJ.
Agreed. And this doesn't seem to be getting much "air time" right now...that may change in the coming days and weeks...

You literally said nothing of substance here. You are just another Donald Sterling without the money, lol.

When I first saw this story I thought he was captured in battle or something - then I read about how he left the base with no weapon - almost like he wanted to defect - then you read about twitter posts that all the terrorists at Gitmo need to be freed - who knows what to think the more u read

bigaltheshoeman, read the guys story... realize who we traded his sorry ass for... try to understand how big of a can of worms was just opened... until you do those simple things and continue to applaud this move, i will consider your stance very ignorant.

Yes . . . I have read / seen stories all day long.
but . . I wasn't there , and I don't know . . . the truth.

bottom-line . . he is an American , any . . and I mean any American, held in a POW Camp - must be rescued.

If, it comes-to-light , crimes were committed . . there are courts for that.

but -first . . . rescue / hospital / rehabilitation, is the responsible American Way.

As far as . . realize who we traded his sorry ass for - I am SURE the Military KNOWS this already, without my help.
I believe , they planned for this.

:103631605

If I am ignorant, because I don't get my facts from FOX News and make conclusions, before any facts come-to-light, as fact and not because a talking-head,says so.

then yes I am . . . ignorant / but I prefer towait on FACTS.

i havent watched more than 30seconds of tv about the story... it doesnt take much to understand how much weaker our president is now perceived and that there will be many others who attempt the same thing... the Facts are that we have now made it known that we will now give in to demands, even if its for a piece of shit coward soldier, who abandoned his military ...

Complete disgrace to this Country. This guy should be tried for desertion at the VERY least.

And BHO should be impeached...trading 1 deserter for 5 high risk POW's, not notifying Congress and negotiating with terrorists

The guy left his post, deserted his fellow soldiers, then they were called on to search for him, and some of the same soldiers he deserted were killed and injured searching for his sorry ass. He sure as hell better go to the military stockade.

can't believe people reactions.

1) soldier - he hasn't being convicted of anything. it is up to the army to decide what sort of punishment he deserves. however, the army can't leave people on the battlefield based on suspicions. imo anyone who thinks walking off the base and hoping to walk to india/pakistan is not right in the mind. this guy was probably crazy to begin with and should have not being allowed to join army. usa is responsible and am glad they did not shrink in their duty to bring him back

2) the tradeoff - this argument makes no sense. all of sudden, the taliban/terrorists are going to want to capture usa soldiers. i guess this idea never crossed their mind before. on what planet are you living to think this gives them more or less incentive? these guys will blow up anything and everything near them. they need no motivation or extra incentives. i rather they take prisoners then just sliced captured pows throat

3) the taliban - even if you subscribe to the idea that the released guys are the worst of the worst (no true; they were part of taliban not alqeada). how does 5 guys in the battlefield change anything. these are going to be old man after spending 12 years in gitmo. they have already being replaced. all this serves up is moral victor for the taliban. these guys will probably just retire to their villages. no chance they become revelant again.

No, the Taliban/AQ will capture normal Americans because they now know our administration will make a trade. If you for one second think these guys are just going to retire to their villages, you are very senile. These are terrorists. It's their ideology and in their blood. They will not stop their battle until they get to see their maker. I assume by the ignorance in your post, you've never stepped one foot in Afghanistan or even met an Afghan right?
