Im glad he made it back home safely.

But, Im afraid there might be a new rash of kidnappings from extremist groups around the world targeting Americans. Hope this trend doesn't happen, where extremist groups think they can get something for holding an American as a bargaining chip now with this trade-off.

^^^ i agree and fully expect more kidnappings to happen made public soon because we have a fukking moron in office... i dunno what the best way to handle the situation would have been, but rolling over and giving in to demands like a fukking pussy, definitely isnt the best way to handle it... ignorant people will think Obama did a great job... ;+)-

i believe i would have started executing the men they wanted freed from Guantanamo before i let them go...

Well then , count me as an Ignorant.

Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel said :

"We believed that the information we had, the intelligence we had, was such that Sgt. Bergdahl's
safety and health were both in jeopardy and in particular his health deteriorating," Hagel said.
"It was our judgment that if we could find an opening and move very quickly with that opening,
that we needed to get him out of there essentially to save his life.

I know President Obama feels very strongly about that, I do as well.

U.S. special operations forces recovered Bergdahl without incident early Saturday local time at a
"pickup" point in eastern Afghanistan, near the border with Pakistan.

Obama, flanked by Bergdahl's parents at the White House on Saturday, praised the
diplomatic officials and troops who helped secure Bergdahl's release.

Saved his Life . . . yep , , I must be the IGNORANT one ?

Not sure how a prisoner exchange is giving in to terrorists?

We hold +140 of the worst terrorists in the world at Gitmo. So now, an American working in Paris will get kidnapped to secure the release of more of these guys.

Lol, the guy was held in the mountains against his will by a ruthless terror network. No access to a doctor or a normal diet of any kind. At what point during the last five years was his health and safety NOT in jeopardy?

i bet you would feel different if you were him

In 2009, he left his post voluntarily. He had emailed his family telling them how upset with the war he was. He left without his weapon. Depending on what he says in his interviews, it's quite possible he will be charged under the UCMJ.

If you think about it it is a win win situation for us. Not only did we get one of ours back but we released five barbarians into our drone killing zone. It will not surprise me a bit if these guys are targeted within the next couple of months/years for instant incineration.

That would be an awesome outcome.

On June 27, 2009, according to Rolling Stone,[SUP][19][/SUP] Bowe sent a final e-mai*l to his parents: "The future is too good to waste on lies. And life is way too short to care for the damnation of others, as well as to spend it helping fools with their ideas that are wrong. I have seen their ideas and I am ashamed to even be american. The horror of the self-righteous arrogance that they thrive in. It is all revolting."
His email went on to describe his disillusionment in the army: "In the US army you are cut down for being honest... but if you are a conceited brown nosing shit bag you will be allowed to do what ever you want, and you will be handed your higher rank... The system is wrong. I am ashamed to be an american. And the title of US soldier is just the lie of fools...I am sorry for everything here. These people need help, yet what they get is the most conceited country in the world telling them that they are nothing and that they are stupid, that they have no idea how to live. We don't even care when we hear each other talk about running their children down in the dirt streets with our armored trucks... We make fun of them in front of their faces, and laugh at them for not understanding we are insulting them...I am sorry for everything. The horror that is america is disgusting...There are a few more boxes coming to you guys. Feel free to open them, and use them."

Totally agree...... it is hard to see how this is a good move strategically...... but anyway I am glad the guy is coming home.

Yeah, how dare we dismantle the safe havens in Afghanistan that were used to plan and carry out the attack on 9/11. We should be ashamed of ourselves.

C'mon man you're smarter than this right? The "rules" have nothing to do with expressing opinions and everything to do with expressing them like adults.

It's the endless arguing that has to go.

Well said.
