There is no evidence, anywhere at all, that "extended background checks" or a "ban on some semi-automatic weapons" would enhance safety. Further, you can't point to any "gun bills" that have been blocked that would do anything to stop a single shooting.

Plenty of cities in this country have a legally unarmed public. NYC, Chicago, Detroit, etc.... where becoming a legal firearm carrier is either or next to impossible. This is what I mean by an unarmed public. The cities that don't let you own guns tend to be right at the top of the highest crime areas in the country. This is not a coincidence.
