Roseburg, Oregon (CNN)The man who gunned down nine people at an Oregon community college was enrolled in the class where the fatal shootings occurred, Douglas County Sheriff John Hanlin said Friday.

Don't know if it's true or not but I heard on FoxNews this morning that Alek Skarlatos, one of the French train hero's, would have been at that school had he not been on dancing with the stars right now.

You're absolutely right, their homicide rate is way lower than ours! My bad, what I was getting at is that banning guns had virtually no effect on their homicide rate.

Another example is that US homicide rates are way lower than they were in the 80's/90's, yet gun laws have gotten less restrictive in the 00's. There's a lot more to homicide rates than guns, which I see is as non a factor. Education levels, standard of living, Economics ect.. play a much bigger role. People kill more when they're poor, hungry and uneducated, just look at the rates in Venezuela or Brazil where gun laws are very strict. Mexico's gun laws are very strict and their homicide rates quadruple ours.
