To be honest the mere fact that he even does squats and deadlifts likley makes him a better lifter then most of the other people that posted in thread.

And i do them correctly below parallel without a smith machine.
I understand why Matt says its dumb to do the squats and dead lifts last but with a fwb if I did those first I would be spent and would not be able to perform the rest of my workout properly.

When I get done with my dead lifts and squats I can barely walk.

I know this is one of the biggest negatives of a fbw but the pros outweigh the cons for me. If I did a split wo I'm sure I would be able to have a more quality workout. There is no doubt about it.

But again, I like where I am. Why change?

All bickering aside, and admitting my coming off as a dick at times, I have to give you props for putting in the time my good sir.

keep doing what makes you feel good, and I hope you get the results you're looking for because it thoroughly sounds like you deserve them...

me personally, I'm actually torn on the goal I want to set next after Summer is over. I actually like the results and look I am achieving now, but honestly, I feel better about 15 lbs lighter than I am now, so I may cut somewhat again come winter. And if I allow my boy to talk me into a powerlifting event, I will definitely cut the weight. Just glad to see we both know what it takes for ourselves to achieve what we set out to achieve.

Happy lifting!

Good luck man.
I know my routine is not perfect but I enjoy it and it gives me enough results to make it worth my while. If I ever wanted to compete(which I dont) I know I would have to go to a more traditional spit.

But I learned a long time ago that one of the most important things to making this a lifestyle is to make sure you enjoy it.

I know it sounds crazy but I enjoy working out 3 hrs 3x a week much more then 1 hr 6x a week.

I don't dread it I look forward to it.

I will never not do it.

You know what I'm taking about I can tell. Once you are truly in you never leave

IF I ever wanted to compete (which I don't)

Yea, I don't either. My bro was Mr. Teen SC, and my Dad was Lee Haney's workout partner for many years (he's from my hometown, and they had a gym together), but I just don't care to drop to 3-4% body fat, and hardly enough carbs to flex, much less walk on the stage. I would cut to about what you weigh if I did, and the genetics are definitely there for me to do it, but it's just not my thing. Funny thing is, the tanning portion would be the hardest part for me because I'm not into that shit at all. Haha.

I have another friend trying to convince me to "just do it once to say you did." Nah, I'll pass. I had a way better chance years ago if that was my thing. Plus, it would be a lil too much on the Ole Lady to handle. Can't blame her. She doesn't like the look, and I would be one ill SOB, more than now. ;)

Can't wait to hit it tomorrow. Gonna work some cardio a little harder than usual. Really wanna see what I can get my Deadlift and Powerclean up to, and I almost forgot just how much cardio it takes to do these lifts. Just another reason to love them.

Amen to that...... if you dont break paralell then it is not a squat..... and a Smith Machine is an abomination in the eyes of God. ;)

If you are talking a BB/Physique then you are right...... all those guys train 6 days splits pretty religiously. But if you competing in strength (powerlifting or strongman) then 3-4 days per week is what works. It is easy to be in the gym 6 days a week when you are doing hypertrophy routines...... but if you are actually lifting heavy you need recovery days.

I know a ton of guys doing a 6 day split..... and the thing they all have in common is that they are not very strong. Basically it depends on your goals.

Yea I train around a lot of guys who compete in BB and that final cut is insanely hard. They lose so much strength getting down to that final bodyweight that is is just nuts. Training with very little food and no carbs for the last few weeks is also brutal.

Tried HMB when it was marketed strongly by EAS about 15 years ago. Waste of money for me.

Now the newer free acid version you speak of is better, but an amino acid supplement with a good amount of leucine is sufficient, and better IMO.

My favorite right now is Modern BCAA by USPLabs. This is what I drink during my workouts. Blue Raspberry flavored isn't bad at all.

I hate working out. I hate running unless it involves playing a sport. I especially hate lifting. I never understood why people want to become so massive. That shit looks unnatural.

I'm not a runner either. I don't run for cardio much, unless it's sprints. As for being massive and unnatural, most likely if they're that "massive", it is. there is only so big a human body can get on it's own.

its always the guys who dont want to make the effort that think it looks unnatural or gross....but watch your wives and girlfriends eyes when theyre around the unnatural types :) Im not a mass monster, ive been an athlete all my life so functionality comes before size for me but I still carry more muscle than the majority and will continue to put on size while it suits me and then beyond probably. As for why guys would want to become massive, the perfect body is a never ending goal...I started off training to get stronger for hockey as a junior, then my sports day were over and I kept training to get a body like somebody I thought was in good shape actor x, when I achieved that, I found other flaws, I needed better v taper, I needed better pecs, lower bf, and so on, then you realize youre not getting to those goals staying at 160 pounds, or you want to lift heavier and youre not doing that at a buck fifty, you want to move weight you need to add some weight...and the yard stick keeps moving whatever your goal. Some guys know from jump they want to be a mass monster and want to step on stage but most lifters just live the life and it becomes part of your everyday and your goals just keep evolving till one day youre further than you thought youd be. Its the same as any sport or game, are you content being okay at it or do you want to be the best you can be.

Totally disagree here. make the effort. that's funny.

Also, a majority of women think bodybuilders are gross. There are a handful that like it, but that's about it. I'm in great shape, and could easily push the index of becoming a bodybuilder, and even my own girl thinks they're gross. She ain't having that shit, and I don't blame her.

I'm in great shape @ the moment. My wife feels the same way as well. I wouldn't ever want to look like that, lol.

Matty you ever had WhiteFlood? I stack that with Hemavol before workouts, I do think it gives me a little extra kick. Also gives me a little extra shits too (sorry TMI).

Side note, I was looking around the gym today and I no clue who was married or not (only saw 1 ring). But I also take my ring off at the gym

I have learned that if you have a 6 pack and you are sub 14% body fat women will think your huge even if you are not.

Your biceps don't have to be huge they just need to be hard. Women equate hard being huge.

Thats my experience

more te women like brad Pitt or Jean Claude van damn type bodies in there prime then they do Arnold Schwarzenegger

Yea I like white flood
they just came out(controlled labs) with a new preworkout that is a pump pre non stim just like hemavol that I'm about to try called white pump. I'm going to order that soon when my hemavol runs out.

Right now my preworkout stack is prejym, hemavol, and cm2 nitrates. Talk about a great pump.
