Who cares if you benefited from it last year ? that doesn't mean anything in this discussion

I was responding to your post #326, pointing out that we all do benefit from others missing the deadline and it can make a difference as it did for me last year.

there is no merit to the change

the problem is that you didn't submit the picks you wanted by the deadline
the solution to that is to submit picks earlier

the change you're proposing is to allow editable picks
this doesn't change the fact that you may still miss the deadline with your updated/latest picks or any picks at all if whatever life event happens on a tuesday and keeps you occupied all the way until saturday 3pm est.
this really doesn't solve the problem at hand, which is some people will find reasons to not put in their "final" picks. like i don't see why you're ok with a pre-entry on wednesday to go through and you not updating your picks.
if you're ok with it, you should just always submit your picks on wednesday

it seems to me you want to get participation points through a safety net, which really isn't the point of the contest. most people wait until fri/sat to submit so they have the most information. yes there is a risk that something comes up in real life and you don't get your picks in. you KNOW waiting until saturday to submit is a risk. you took that risk, and you should accept responsibility for it. all other participants take that same risk. reduce your risk by submitting earlier, end of case. in the grand scheme of things, timing of submission of picks shouldn't really be a deep strategy but i guess for other people it's a much bigger factor requiring real complex set ups of alarms and such /s. i mean, if you know you're going to be busy or if you are just a busy person in general, maybe the contest isn't right for you. i don't know how much more convenient we can make it. you can submit through your phone for christ's sakes.

Sure, I understand what you are saying about some people still forgetting and not getting their "final" changes in, but they would at least have their first picks in and never miss totally. That's all.

Hang Tough barn, LVH will evolve and when it does it'll likely be drastically with seismic changes that see it (and this contest as well, as result) wind up closer to and maybe exactly what you describe. Vegas found the ability to consign The Stardust to History among many other legendary Vegas Spots so in the great by and bye negating the History of The SuperContest in favor of "bigger better" won't be a hard call. Obviously you never presented any thing unreasonable, the opposite in fact....for the sake of Discussion but as we've seen yet again Discussion risks causing some heads to explode. Deadlines are a fact of life and part of life..missing them is something along the lines of spilled milk..if you miss a deadline it's on you , not " how it does mean something ".now I'm done ..

Way back in the day ... My teachers would set deadlines for essays, homework and projects. When I got to school and saw everyone else with their paper in hand I just came up with a crazy excuse and they would extend the deadline for me to hand it in the next day. Can't we change the rules to like a rain date as the next day? OBVIOUSLY IM kidding....rules are rules, I suffered last week due to busy schedule and that basically took me right out of any chance I may have had. But I'll be back next year cause I like the contest and the competitive nature of competing in general.

It is indeed. Just Relax, bring the Best card you can to the table for the Final Week, don't worry about things that are beyond your control or stress about stuff.

It is what it is, you've done everything possible to claim Victory which if thats a thing we could have gotten out of The Pittsburgh Steelers vs. that Junior College team Ravens you'd be one game better off, one more game to the positive but one cannot ask too much of Millionaires, after all, because their priorities are what they are and obviously winning football games (that they need to win) is not real high on that list.

What were we to do? Looked like Steelers had a Heart. Based upon outcomes of games just prior to the injury ravaged Ravens accomplishing the Season Sweep of "The Mighty Pittsburgh Steelers" and I guess in hindsight it should have been obvious that NE Pats were gonna dump to NYJ, lay down yet again (as they did ATS vs. Indy a few weeks back) to accomplish a specific outcome (losing the game) and yeah now we see that we needed to put Steelers on the yellow brick road with Dorothy, to ask the Wizard to give them a Heart but no way we could have known they didn't actually have a heart.

Based on what they'd shown L4 outs or whatever.

Fuck The Pittsburgh Steelers.

That said...the pussies probably cover that -11 at CLE this week. Just no way to know with any certainty and capping don't accomplish shit no more because impossible to tell if the spoiled millionaire brats are gonna feel like trying. feel like putting in an effort to win.
