You see....you just decided to call the SEC the toughest conference, but it's NOT this year. By the same rationale you just used, FSU has a right to decide their 13-0 season was an achievement. So with the mandate to put Bama in, from the fallout who gets screwed? Aside from the football fans that want honest selection and competition. That's easy. The ACC and FSU. Not only did the game last night give the committee an out to eliminate FSU. Beyond the fact the qb that played yesterday for FSU wouldn't see the field in what would have been the first round playoff, FSU is from the ACC. And if you're gonna leave someone out, who better? After all, it's not like leaving out an undefeated Clemson with a nationally recognized coach like Dabo Sweeny. Or Miami with their giant metro viewership. It's FSU, Tallahassee, that's like Baton Rouge only smaller. And their coach? He has no cache to get on any national media outlets like that fucking liar Nick Saban. Hell....no one even knows who the head coach of FSU is.
The real question is: Had FSU's starter been healthy would the committee have booted FSU all the same so Alabama / Texas could be in? Because you can't take Bama without bringing along Texas. Chances are FSU was never gonna be in. ACC has more cred than the Big 12 normally, that's kind of true. But Texas beat Bama so if Bama's in you have to put Texas in... If you're going to have any backstop against a vulgar display of outright bias.
But that's what this has become. A vulgar display of outright bias.
