I think maybe the only thing they can do is see the results and ask both teams if they will resume Tuesday or Weds at the latest
If they agree they play
If one team declines the other gets the win
If they both decline it is a tie
Maybe unfair to the Bills but maybe the only way
Leave it in their hands
Much prefer that over just cancel and give them no say
This.
I want to add that the players need to return to the field and play. The NFL has a structure. If it's not adhered to all hell breaks loose. How long does this grieving period go on for? What if the players don't feel like playing this coming Sunday?
The game should be resumed either tomorrow or Thursday. Resumed. Picked up from exactly where they left off.
Shit happens all the time in life. Risk is a part of living. NFL players made a decision to play a risky sport. They are lured by their love of the game and / or the money they make that they could never even dream of making elsewhere.
Hamlin's life may be in limbo for months. Get back to football and finish the game so as not to throw the whole NFL plan into chaos.
What happened is surely unfortunate. But sitting around thinking about it can serve no good purpose if the players intend to continue their career. It was a freak happening. It won't repeat any time soon. We are versed in probabilities here. Are we not.
Dedicate your play to your teammate. Using an unfortunate occurrence to someone we love as a rallying point is often done in life. Get back on the field and finish that game.
