GL Man, kill it. Didn't know they had a 4-max event. That has to be really interesting to play. I imagine it's ALL about blind stealing. Wild that you're either in a blind or on the button 75% of the time. A lot of CO button-buying go on? Funny that UTG is CO, I can't even imagine. I usually play 6-max but 4 seems intense.

You must REALLY have to open up your range.
The four max is amazingly aggressive as you can imagine. Let 2 players wake up with pocket pairs. It's fireworks preflop. As you can imagine, players are dropping at a amazing pace.

Haha what a punk. Congrats on the big night at the table. How thin were you when you called him? What was the scenario?
The game is currently a round of NLHE a round of PLO. Obviously a odd variation of such a big game. But there has been a demand this year for it at a couple of casinos. We are currently playing NLHE. I'm on the button. MP aggro kid leads the pot to 250, young kid (the villan) directly to his left calls 250. Folds to myself I raise to 800 with 10,10. MP folds, villan calls. (2k in pot) flop is 2, 6, K (2 diamonds)

villan leads for 1K, I raise to 2300, he calls. (6600) in pot
turn is J (of diamonds ) it goes check, check
river brings in a Offsuit 9

He tank shoves a over pot sized 7250

I considered folding here, but as I considered the kid starts to get increasingly nervous. I had played with the kid for numerous hours at this point. I didn't feel that he had this solid of a reverse tell in his arsenal. I made the call. The kid flew off the handle and that's when the berating started.

Hoping to run/play good today. This is a solid shot at a final table as we are already in the money with only 64 players returning for day 2. This one should be interesting with all of the big name pro's that are left.

Thanks for posting the specifics. What was he holding? I'm guessing AQ or 7 7?

GL to my buddy Aaron, he bagged up a really nice stack last night in the stud8... I truly believe there isn't another "pro" out there that has a edge against him in this game. Mark my words, he will make a super deep run here. You give this guy a healthy stack in a stud8 event, he will absolutely crush the competition!

Correct... He held AQ. Which fell within the range I expected when I made the call. I considered a small pocket pair also.

That's what I was thinking. I don't want to derail this thread, but can you give some insight as to why you
a) raised the flop? I can see flatting the flop but I guess by raising it you kept control of the action? And if he 3 bets you there you fold? I guess what I'm asking is, were you pretty sure you were ahead even with his donk?
b) checked behind on the turn? Afraid of a flush here? Or just playing pot control in case he makes a mid-sized river bet?

Thanks, just trying to pick your brain a little bit given that the hand specifics are there to analyze.

Mike "the mouth" play any more?
He does. He is actually making some deep runs this year. He just won the national heads up. I'm glad to see him sober again and actually making a living. He used to notoriously always be so "upside down" with his backers anytime he cashed he was immediately broke again.

harry I will respond soon.

Ended up making a pretty thin call on the river last night to drag a 13+k pot, then got verbally abused for my call from a kid that was 95lbs soaking wet. I'm usually pretty even headed. The kid wouldn't settle down, I tried to explained to him numerous times that if this loss made him that upset then he was playing well above the stakes he should be. I'm not a "tough guy" nor do I look for fights. I do pride myself in staying pretty active and am in what most would consider pretty good physical shape. I let the kid keep running his mouth while railing the game (just watching, not rebuying.) Eventually I had enough as well as did the rest of the remaining players in the game. I called the floor over and asked them to either remove the obnoxious kid, or I would have to. The floor insisted that the kid leave the cash area. He left while telling me "I will catch you somewhere else and take my money back." I laughed it off as the kid is literally a foot shorter and less than half my weight. After cashing out a hour later (FYI...+22k, all of my losses from the previous night plus a considerable amount.... Woohoo!!!) I went upstairs and ran into a friend at the craps table. We played for a bit and guess who walks up obviously considerably drunker and considerably "tougher." He decides this time to start pointing his finger into my face (he had to reach above his scrawny head to do so) and continuing to "threaten" me. I looked over the top of his head to the pit boss who was staring this way from the commotion. I told him "get this kid out of my face before I do something about it." The kid immediately started walking to the door screaming "come on outside, I'm whipping your ass and taking my cash back." Now, this has now went down twice in front of people I see numerous times a year at various poker series. I can't be "that guy" that got punked by the little kid from now until eternity at every series I see these people. We go outside, surprisingly enough no security follow. The kid swings at me, I grab the kids neck and pin him against the wall. Security now swarms. As myself and a few aquintances are explaining the situation LV's finest show up and put us both in cuffs. When it was all said and done, they released us both and told us to leave the RIO.

Guess who is seated in the 3 seat at my table in today's tournament? Should be interesting!

this was a great story

hope the little bastard comes back for more.. this time a security guard takes him down so you dont lose your seats in the tournaments :)

What hand did you go all in with and what did you run into to make you exit the 4 max? Congrats on another cash.

I got a little short stacked (12BB) shoved under the gun with A7 of hearts, BB snapped me off with A10.. I never improved. Pretty standard short handed. I felt that I played well, can't complain. Ill try again tomorrow.
