Obama's gun control speeches are getting a bit old. There are times for gun control speeches and this was not one of them. Gun control would have never stopped this attack IMO. This was a hateful person with no conscience for human life, brain washed by radical islamic ideology. He had time to calculate and obtain whatever he needed.
Sane Gun control speeches never get old, but what does get old is them falling on deaf ears, as they will continue to, unfortunately. Still can't blame Obama for making them after every one of these far too many senseless tragedies. An assault weapons ban, and a sane policy of putting red flags on people with prior suspicions, might indeed have stopped this psycho, or at least limited the damage he might have caused.

Solemn Obama calls for gun control action and DOESN'T link Orlando nightclub terror attack to Islam in address to nation

President Obama furthered his gun control message today when addressing the massacre in Orlando that killed 50 people, making it the deadliest mass shootin

from his lips to theirs, simply incapable of thinking

ISIS is a JV team
ISIS is contained (hours before Paris attack)

they're simply not worthy of being addressed, they can't be reached, they should be dead to y'all (they're fun to play with sometimes to get a good laugh at them, but sometimes the subject matter makes even that unacceptable)

This maybe true, maybe not, I would prefer the president to give time before using a fresh tragedy as a political talking point.

There are definitely problems with the system allowing this guy to legally purchase weapons.

I hear ya, but sadly, as the POTUS, he has to get out front and talk about these events when they occur. His biggest frustration as POTUS are that these mass shootings keep happening, and absolutely nothing gets done. I don't blame him. It's a continuing national disgrace. I don't know when the proper time to talk about this is, other than when such a tragedy occurs?

NRA’s fight to stop assault weapons ban enables killers behind shootings at Orlando nightclub, Newtown, and San Bernardino to use AR-15 rifle

NEW YORK DAILY NEWS
Updated: Monday, June 13, 2016, 2:36 AM
His killing machine of choice was a mass murderer’s best friend — and his enabler a gun lobby that has long opposed efforts to keep assault weapons out of the hands of bloodthirsty maniacs.
The madman who killed at least 50 people and wounded 53 others at an Orlando club early Sunday was armed with an AR-15-type rifle. It’s the same style of weapon used to slaughter 20 children and six adults in Newtown, Conn., in 2012. Earlier that year, James Holmes used an AR-15 to murder 12 people and wound 70 in a movie theater in Aurora, Colo.

There were calls to ban the weapon after the Newtown shootings, which led to a spike in sales. Gun manufacturers have called the AR-15 one of the most popular weapons in the U.S., with more than 3 million estimated to be in circulation.

“It was designed for the United States military to do to enemies of war exactly what it did this morning: kill mass numbers of people with maximum efficiency and ease,” lawyer Josh Koskoff, who’s representing Newtown families in their lawsuit against the gun industry, said Sunday.

Regulations on magazine capacity for the weapon vary from state to state, but it can fire 45 rounds a minute.
Most forms of the gun had been prohibited under the 1994 federal assault weapons ban that was allowed to expire in 2004, following ferocious lobbying by the National Rifle Association. The NRA has used its lobbying might in the years since to bury attempts to revive the ban.
“During the decade of the ban, there were half as many casualties in mass shootings as the decade before, and a third as many casualties in mass shootings as the decade after,” said Richard Aborn of the Citizens Crime Commission of New York City, a strategist involved in the original legislation.

In January, the NRA’s blog ran an article headlined “Why the AR-15 Is America’s Most Popular Rifle.” It can be “wrapped in all different types of colors and patterns,” its “customizability allows for all types of stocks, barrel and carbine-lengths,” and “so, so, soooo many accessories,” the post gushed.
There was no NRA post expressing sympathy for the victims of Sunday’s shooting, nor was there any mention of the slaughter on its Twitter account.
The AR-15’s popularity with killers has continued as well. This past October, Chris Harper-Mercer, 26, went on a rampage with an AR-15 at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Ore. He killed nine people before killing himself.

(L to R) Omar Mateen and Adam Lanza both used an AR-15 assault rifle.

The AR-15 was among the weapons used by Islamic terrorists Syed Farook, 28, and Tashfeen Malik, 27, when they opened fire at a social services center in San Bernardino, Calif., in December. They killed 14. Investigators said they had thousands of rounds of ammo. Two NRA board members told the Daily News after that shooting that their organization would battle any attempts to restrict the number of bullets people can buy.

Aborn said something has to be done.
“Congressional gridlock has time and again prevented reinstating the assault weapons ban, and has allowed the proliferation of these dangerously lethal weapons,” he said. “The time has come to fix that.”

Yeah, you're right. Because if an AR-15 can't be purchased legally, then no one would buy one at all. After all, that would make the the purchase of an AR-15 a crime, and nobody does something if it's illegal. And these mass murderers are also very respectful of the law, btw...

Nice try, Mr Magoo. The NRA has zero to do with mass shootings and has never endorsed them, dumb fuck. If you'd like to get an idea of how this event came to be, let's start with the following:

-Open borders
-Political correctness
-Mandated "diversity"

And probably most importantly, a profiling paranoia.

This is is the end result of the dimwitted policies dimocraps relentlessly endorse. You're just incapable of understanding why.

California has an assault weapons ban (The state outlawed the sale of assault rifles in 1989), a ban on high capacity magazines, and a 10-day waiting period to purchase firearms.

You fucking idiot.

We so far have 3 accounts, from people who knew this murderous psychopath, his Father, ex-wife, and an ex co worker. They've all painted a similar picture, of an unhinged, seething, hateful man, capable of being a sick stalker. Sounds like some RX Poli forum trash. But this scenario doesn't fit with super sicko no life Brit Twit. So he just rejects it out of hand, and substitutes the one he must conveniently believe, to continue his sick hatred. And sadly he has plenty of company on here. Thank G-d our law enforcement agencies are not so closed minded, and will continue to track down every lead, wherever it takes them.

Government contractor security firm where Orlando gunman worked says he passed two background checks

  • Gunman Omar Mateen worked at G4S, the world's largest security firm
  • The British company said he passed two background checks - one when he started in 2007 and another in 2013
  • During the most recent review, they learned that Mateen had been questioned by the FBI

The terrorist was an anchor baby (mother came here specifically to give birth and thus ensure the kid, the parents and the rest of the family can come over no questions asked). What needs to be asked (among many other things) in this case is why the terrorist's father who had a TV show in his native Afghanistan and made no secret of his support of the Taliban was allowed to come to the U.S.

The father is a nasty pig who should never have been allowed into the US.

The father is a Taliban supporter.

The father pig gave life to the piglet terrorist.

Take with a pinch of salt what the pig says about his dead piglet.

You allow shit into the US and this is the result.

Um he was interviewed by the FBI 3 times and had suspected terrorist ties. That's enough for me.

The FBI said he was not a threat.

So again, using specifics, how does a country stop a gun sale to someone under this scenario?

Top intelligence officials are saying there is no doubt that this attack was directed by a terrorist organisation.

This has all the hallmarks of direction from a terrorist organisation. The reality is only through this investigation will we find the digital foot print that we need to make the connection to a specific ISIL MEMBER OR TO A SPECIFIC CELL.

Keep pedalling your "
unhinged, seething, hateful man, capable of being a sick stalker. "

You are in for another egg on face.

Plus he was screened and cleared twice by his employer

So how the hell is anyone going to stop him buying a gun.

He had clearance from G4S, so buying a gun was a cake walk.
