Surprised non of you guys buy American!? I've always have and always will buy American. Had a Mustang early on but got rid of it because the insurance was freaking insane! A young guy with a 'Stang in the GTA, was paying over 5k a year in the 90's! My Malibu had it for over 13 years and over 300,000 km. My Cobalt paid it cash all in for 16K. 11 years and 270,000 km later still running smoothly. Never had problems with American cars and much cheaper to buy brand new than foreign cars. Hmm went from expensive car in my youth to progressively getting cheaper and cheaper cars. The gambling gods have not been kind to me. LOL

Never have, never will...

That new Vette is tempting, but I’ll pass, for now, as well...

You can't go wrong with Lexus, anything else is trash. LOL!!

The Japs know how to make smooth and reliable cars. I have 160K miles on my 2011 LS460 and it's still running very very quiet.

you mean that overpriced Toyota?!? Lol, I kid, I kid...

Id rather have yours than a new one, don’t like the new hideous front ends...

Wouldn’t buy a new Supra, either, but I’d kill for a 90s one with a twin turbo 2JZ power plant...

I love my Lexus, and I might just buy another one. Considering the RX 450 HL, 425 HP along with everything imaginable that I want

With two posters I respect telling me to look at the Mazda, I'm going to look at the Mazda. It will save me 20k minimum, probably more like 35k

Have to he honest, it's a long shot for me. But maybe great for my wife. She needs a car I like to drive

I probably sound like a broken record at this point, but if you “really like to drive” and are a driver enthusiast, you will laugh at the thought of buying the Lexus once you drive the CX-9. It is a driver’s dream when it comes to getting a little sporty handling out of a SUV. Only thing that’s gonna smash it is if you wanna grab the BMW X5 or X7 M50i, but they’re 2-3x higher in price, and carry nowhere near the reliability of the Mazda. The Mazda’s driving dynamics and handling will match the BMW, it just doesn’t have the power of the M, unfortunately (I’d buy a Mazda version of an M in a heartbeat if they’d make one).

All in all, as Mazda continues their move forward to tackle the luxury brands, and more folks breakdown and give them a shot and not check them off because of price, they will gain in popularity. Doesn’t really matter to me in that regard, though, because I bought the best car out there in its segment, regardless of price, and BMW X series are built right here in my hometown...

I’d even buy the Kia Telluride or Hyundai Palisade over the Lexus, once again putting a lot of coin in my pocket, and I’m not knocking Toyota/Lexus at all as I also have a Tundra, and I love it...

MattyMatt, if you're comparing the Lexus unfavorably to the drive of the KIA or Hyundai, then I'm going to suggest you need to drive them all again

And of all luxury brands mentioned, I said I liked the BMW the least because of the sportier handling. I like a great handling luxury ride with pickup

I don't like the loose luxury handling of American cars, their not tight enough although they are smooth, I like something in between

Have you ridden in a new Telluride?

I’m not just comparing the ride of them, I’m comparing the overall vehicle and it’s overall value, it’s not even close. Once again, folks need to get off the Kia is junk bandwagon because they’ve came a long way. Once again, I’m buying the Mazda first, and I’ll take the $35k I’ll save over that Lexus and laugh all the way to the bank...

I literally volunteered to drive my wife to Target today cause getting there requires a couple windy roads and interstate merges.
Target.

That should tell you something.

Price wise, no, feature wise it is for sure, ride quality, the Lexus may ride a tad smoother, and that’s about it, but it rides nowhere near spending $25k more for, and the Telluride is plenty comfy for long trips and riding around town.

I’ll go ahead and tell you the Lexus will ride a little better than the Mazda too, because the Mazda is built for driving enthusiast and those that like to feel the road and enjoy how a car handles. The Lexus rides more for the boring type that don’t care about that and honestly care more about that luxury logo...

For hahas, I just googled highest rated luxury SUV's

Neither KIA nor Hyundai made any list. To be fair, they're probably not considered luxury SUV's

There you have it folks.

Like stated, I’m not trying to sound rude, but the Lexus IS boring compared to the Mazda when it comes to driving dynamics. It’s just flat out true.

Luxury is a logo, the Mazda isn’t considered luxury, either, couldn’t careless, although as stated, that’s what their new concept is aiming for, stay tuned, and tuned to the road if you drive one...

The Telluride gets a 10/10 from Car and Driver...

Toyota/Lexus bought a 5% stake in Mazda 3 years ago as well, so they see something also (probably to work on a ridiculous hybrid (not interested)). They make the Yaris for Yota, and will make the Corolla in the new combined Mazda/Yota plant in Alabama...

Mazda just got named the most reliable brand, too, so there’s that as well...

Im trying to think of a Lexus I would buy, I can’t, my grandparents were about to, but put money in the pocket and bought the Avalon instead. Smart move, basically the Lexus without the extra price tag of the luxury logo...

Kia is attempting to elevate their brand into luxury status to compete with the German brands.

They hired BMWs former designer to design the Stinger a few years ago. Its a beautiful car inside and out.

However, I test drove it and was disappointed. There was an annoying whistling sound coming from the windshield area when you got it up to highway speed and you could hear the tires on the asphalt below the floorboards. Kinda like they used thin materials without soundproofing.

And lastly the exhaust sound is fake. Its done electronically and piped in through the stereo speakers haha . Thats a deal breaker

I had the same feeling when I thought of buying the Stinger GT1...

Give it time, though, and the soundproofing will be fixed. It was the exact same complaint Mazda folks had for the first 4 years of the CX line, and when Mazda too decided to make a run to tackle the luxury brand, the first thing they did was take on the decibel levels in the cabin. And now, it actually is quieter than the Lexus that it most closely competes with, imagine that...

They will also cough up a couple more ponies out of the powerplant to offset the couple of hundred pounds of sound deadening material used to quiet the cabin. Another win win...

The fake sound out of the speakers really bothered me as well, it just seems so teenage ricer, however, it can be turned off, and I'd tackle the problem by creating my own sweet sounding exhaust anyways...

With it all said, I'd still buy it over the BMW counterpart, but I think I'd buy it used with 10-15k miles on it because the warranty transfers, and a 100k mile powertrain warranty is hard to beat, and they depreciate still way faster than other brands, in fact, I would've splurged on one a couple of months ago at a ridiculous price ($32k) if it wouldn't have been white...

Overall, both Mazda and Kia are doing a mighty fine job on their push for the upscale market, I still prefer the Mazda, hands down, I just wish they'd come out with something with the power of the Stinger GT in both a sedan and CUV/SUV, then they'd be really hard to pass up for anyone, given the time to compare and give it a shot, I for one, would buy one today...

Thats what I was thinking-wait and see if they make some improvements. I think they rushed the Stinger into production a couple years ago from what I read. Since its an all new offering you cant expect perfection in the first generation. However, you would think wind tunnel testing and aerodynamics wouldve been spot on already

If anyone hasn't seen the Stinger yet its a sweet looking ride. Doesn't look like what you would expect from Kia. As a matter of fact, they even offer a special order emblem for the front to replace the Kia name badge if you prefer. They know a lot of people are still put off by the name Kia and what they were in years past.

Has anyone here seen the Genesis brand offered by Hyundai? They have the G-70 and G-80. This is another Korean company trying to compete in the luxury car market

Anyone here ever use an auto broker to negotiate a new car sale/lease? I hear it saves time and they get you a really good price.

Wondering if it's worth it
