“We ought to be on guard against that,” Schlafly said, “because obviously the European Union was a failure. I remember when they went in, they all thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread and it isn’t…I spent a year of my life fighting [George W. Bush’s] plan… to put us in, what was called, a ‘North American Union,’ which was to erase the borders between Canada, U.S. and Mexico. And we don’t want to erase our borders. We like them the way they are. And it’s a matter of sovereignty. It’s a matter of national identity and I’m for America first.”

I look at the current structure of government as a cancer eating away at our rights and freedoms. The simple fact is, public office was never intended to create a separate and distinct aristocratic class with special privileges above and beyond those of our normal, everyday citizens. And it was NEVER intended to be a career choice.
As I said yesterday, Democrats love class warfare, but right now there are only two classes - the ruling class and the working class.
Like most great things in America, look to Texas. Their part time legislature is a great model for the federal level - where lawmakers make non-political livings and only pass laws outside of their normal careers.
