Correction to my previous post, he didn't get tagged. He played on that 1yr tender for like 4mill.

Still think if he hits open market he'll get paid better than the deal the Saints offered him unless stuff comes out that truly portrays him in a very bad light, but that really doesn't seem to be the case. You're underrating the amount of cap room out there chasing very few players.

We shall see but we also need to subtract the money he lost this year when he signs his new contract in the offseason. That’s lost money that will never be recovered .

Im not bitter or mad or anything .

As a matter of fact I’m glad he did not not sign .

Other then people calling me an idiot on this forum for my “Butler coming to saints “ thread I’m good.

We got the best young corner in the NFL in lattimore who is already much better then butler ever was or ever will be.

If we would have got butler who know maybe the saints would have gone in another direction.

Although there is at least a decent chance we would have drafted him anyway.

But Butler signing would have hurt the cap and probably would have prevented the emergence of Crowley who makes the NFL min and is probably just as good or better then butler anyway .

At the end of the day it was one of the greatest no trades I can remember for the saints

They struggled all year. None of them are very good. Dontae Hightower is their best defensive player by a wide margin. It's not even close. Their linebackers are complete trash without him. Corners are average. Just because hes their best cb doesn't mean he's all that.
So you called him their best cb, but then say it didn't matter he didn't play at all on D? Your words not mine

Hearing a few whispers about this PatsFan, first off, missing the Team flight out Monday didn't sit to well with the coaches. Supposedly, he missed curfew Fri or Sat. and turned up late night at the Team hotel blasted, then got into it with some of the coaching staff. Not sure how accurate all of this is but something definitely bad had to happen for Belichick to sit him for the whole game while his replacement was getting roasted time and time again. Belichick is lying through his teeth when he's saying it was strictly a football decision.

Yeah, it's tough to comment on the situation w/o all the facts. But unless he was a true malcontent personified then missing the whole game does seem pretty strong.

This is off topic to the thread but last night not BB's finest hour. Kicking FG on 4th and 1 in the 1st Q, calling timeout at 2:03 left in the half rather than let it run to 2 mins (other team now isn't so conflicted about passing), not calling timeout to stop the clock at 1:29 after the big Clement gain. All objectively pretty bad decisions. Some worse than others but certainly warrants mentioning.

Butler is the dumbest idiot player in the NFL and it’s not a close 2nd.

Turned down nearly 14m a year to stay with NE.

It literally cost him over 30 million or more lifetime .

I hope he enjoyed getting rejected by the team he was so loyal to .

And Butler don’t come begging to come to New Orleans .

We dont want you either .
You fucked up .

good luck in free agency trying to get a contract even 30% of the size you turned down to stay at a place that rejected you.

At least you're not bitter or anything....

Trash doesn't make the Super Bowl, geese guys. Some of you are so bias and naive your comments make you look just dumb.

Im not .
why would I?

Butler would be nothing more then an expensive backup for the saints .
Do me a favor .

Google NFL defensive rookie of the year for this season .
Then go look at his pff numbers then compare them to butler .

Then look at how much money the saints offered butler .
Then look at lattimores contract then get back to me and tell me why I should be bitter .

Just heard another little bit more about this situation from up North. Evidently, the coaching staff had decided to just bench Butler at the start of the game, possibly just the first quarter and when they told him about it an hour or so before kickoff, that's when things got really out of hand, supposedly Butler just lost it on them. That would totally explain why he was dressed and ready to play but didn't. Maybe if Butler handled things a little more maturely and was apologetic to the staff he would have seen the field.

This distraction probably cost the Patriots the game. When your on top as long as the Patriots have been eventually something is going to happen. Remember most of the guys on the roster already have a ring. And with all the bullshit just a few plays and the Pats win another ring despite of all this.

Sounds plausible. Feels like something that won't be a secret forever.

1 of the reasons they traded JimmyG during the season rather than wait until after was believed to be so they had the franchise tag to use on Butler so will be interesting to see how that all plays out.

It can't bode well for your future going off on Bill Bellichick.

These homeboys and their poor impulse control.

Their linebackers ARE TRASH. I stand by that.

I said it didn't CHANGE the outcome. Him being benched didn't make the Patriots lose.

My words exactly.

Changing the outcome like he said to the reporter is what anyone in that position would have said.
