Hes very good, having good players helps your chances to win. Especially when his replacement was terrible.

They lost by the slimmest of margins.
This isn’t hard.

Very good? No.

Lol yeah he sucks because he had a bad first 5 weeks of the season.

lets all conclude him missing the game had 0 impact and the resulting distraction was irrelevant as well. Seems logical.

Didn't say he sucks. But he's not very good and he's not changing the course of history last night lol

I get it losing a cb is big because everyone is affected down the line. But they had matchup issues that malcom butler wasn't fixing. Eric rowe was their biggest cb and he was going to cover alshon or torrey. Butler was probably going to be on algohor and nobody was stopping him yesterday. Way too fast for butler. Butler would have been chasing all game just my opinion.

No, butler plays on the outside usuallly. Would’ve been on Smith/Jeffrey mostly.

Its a legitimate loss, especially from a leadership standpoint. Top guy is a surprise scratch like that can have an effect on the team in ways that aren’t quantifiable.

I think if he plays they probably win a close one but it isn’t something I’d want to argue or anything since we’ll never know.

He's way too small for Jeffrey. Torrey smith only guy I'd give him a shot against and that's the eagles worst wr. You put your best cb on the worst wr....how is that going to change the game. They don't have any standout corners and linebackers are trash. Gilmore will have a better year next year I think.

This is just dumb

Patriots defensive coordinator Matt Patricia, who is expected to become the Lions’ head coach, told reporters that his team was simply “trying to run some packages,” which apparently didn’t happen to include Butler. “It kind of turned out that way, and the game with the way it went and some of the situations that came up, that was just kind of the way it went,” he said.

Hes a physical player and has covered big WRs well in the past but I don’t feel like going through his scouting report with you.

But if someone bet the Pats and turned the game on and found out Butler was a late scratch for disciplinary reasons, this is certainly info any of us would want before hand. Why? Because it’s relevant.

I agree it's relevant but the eagles mix it up better than anyone. That's coaching. They kept the patriots defense on their heels all game. Philly was best team all year, better than the patriots....Malcolm butler or not

A full game for violating a team rule in that spot does seem pretty strong. I mean you aren’t just screwing butler over by holding him out, it’s all the other guys who busted their ass for 7 months.

And given how the the game went, it’s hard to believe he couldn’t have had enough of an impact for the result to go the other way.

Butler is the dumbest idiot player in the NFL and it’s not a close 2nd.

Turned down nearly 14m a year to stay with NE.

It literally cost him over 30 million or more lifetime .

I hope he enjoyed getting rejected by the team he was so loyal to .

And Butler don’t come begging to come to New Orleans .

We dont want you either .
You fucked up .

good luck in free agency trying to get a contract even 30% of the size you turned down to stay at a place that rejected you.

I don't know what the Saints offered him but if he gets to hit UFA then he'll probably get paid pretty well given how much cap room a lot of these teams have. He's been a solid to spectacular corner for NE for 3 years now. Besides something crazy having occured, I'd guess he'll make more $ by getting tagged and hitting UFA rather than signing a deal with the Saints for not full market value since he was never a true UFA with multiple teams getting to bid for his services.

Unless it comes out he was blowing lines and wanted to fight a coach the night before the SB or something.

Butler missing the game was huge & that can't be stated enough. Trust in your partner is a big thing on defense and knowing that you have someone that you can know where he will be pretty much every time makes playing easier. Now you take that away & literally at the last second much to the surprise of everyone and you start to see how that makes your overall product start to crumble.

Correction to my previous post, he didn't get tagged. He played on that 1yr tender for like 4mill.

Still think if he hits open market he'll get paid better than the deal the Saints offered him unless stuff comes out that truly portrays him in a very bad light, but that really doesn't seem to be the case. You're underrating the amount of cap room out there chasing very few players.

Now you say he is their best cb???

They struggled all year. None of them are very good. Dontae Hightower is their best defensive player by a wide margin. It's not even close. Their linebackers are complete trash without him. Corners are average. Just because hes their best cb doesn't mean he's all that.
