I mean, Boeheim is a legend for sure and he is a good coach. But he has 1 title in 38 years and 4 Final Fours with Syracuse. In about 8 less years of coaching, Pitino has 2 titles and 7 Final Fours......and yes, he took Providence to a Final Four so I would say that negates the whole Mark Few talk. Pitino literally resurrected UK in a matter of a couple of years and turned them back into a powerhouse. He took over a Louisville program that Denny Crum deteriorated beyond what you can imagine and had them in a Final Four in 4 years. Honestly, there was a time when I thought Pitino was on the slide and was losing a step.....and then he came out firing. Back to back Final Fours, defending champs, and contrary to your opinion a strong contender to make another Final 4 (per Vegas odds) Don't give me that more with less and less with more. That is a ridiculous run regardless of program and achievements many on your list may never have. So to even breath the name of Mark Few, Beilein, Jay Wright, Bo Ryan, and all those other guys you mentioned is ludicrous. To your point those guys could take Louisville to the same level is unknown....maybe they could. Guess we will see when the next guy takes over in the future but don't think Pitino will walk away with the momentum he has right now. Izzo, K, Self, Donovan, Boeheim, Williams....all legit and to each their own with those guys. K is best ever in my book.
You wouldn't take Boeheim over Pitino? I'm kind of curious why not?
I'm not saying all of these guys are better than Pitino. That's not what I'm saying. I'm saying all of these guys are great coaches and had great success and could take a Louisville to the same level as Pitino given the opportunity.
