I count Dieng and Behanan as losses enfuego. Siva and Jones are a wash. My bad, I should have said 2 lost and not 1

I also think Harrell has taken over Dieng's role. Last year Harrell was a blip on the Louisville radar and Dieng averaged 8.7 points and 7.3 rebounds in the Tourney. This year Harrell averaged 14.2 and 8.2. An upgrade over Dieng IMO. This team is very similar to last years team.

I agree their schedule wasn't great but that was in part to the sudden breakup of their conference last year and there is a reason why most are picking them to go much further than teams seeded higher than them. That's because of the guys they do have returning. They have the talent and experience that other teams do not have. The eye test has told most people that.

It's not about their schedule. It's about who they beat playing their schedule. When they played teams like UNC, UK, Memphis and Cinci (once) they lost.

The eye test is great against Houston and Rutgers.

No way Harrell is Dieng. Dieng changed shots and could hit the 15 footer drawing the D out. Harrell can't do that yet.

Dieng was better on defense and Harrell is much better on offense. Dieng was great at blocks but he certainly didn't rebound like Harrell does. That's not an opinion either. It's a fact. Just go look at the numbers. Have you even watched Jones and Harrell play this year? Seriously cuz they are just as good if not better than Dieng and Siva were.

Louisville was 17th in scoring defense last year and they are 15th this season. This team is almost a mirror image of last season.

Hey, I have Florida vs 'Zona in my final but I felt the need to defend a very solid Louisville squad. I feel like you are treating them like Louisiana and not Louisville! lol

Not at all but for all the guys claiming they should be a #1 or #2, it bears repeating they've played nobody, come from a crap conference and lost to every good team they've played. Those are the facts.

Lol, Louisiana as in LSU? LSU beat UK, Louisville did not :).

It's obvious that the committee puts a lot of stock into SOS. Louisville had the 46th hardest SOS in the field of 68, which pales in comparison to ALL of the teams that are seeded higher except Wichita St (48.) So basically all the people that are saying Wichita St is going to lose because "they didn't play anybody," but are hanging off Pitino's nutsack, are clueless.

I THINK YOU GUYS ARE MISSING THE POINT OF THE THREAD..To me Florida, Wich St and Arizona are no brainer #1's.i'm not complaining about Va because even in a down yr, any team that can win the ACC reg season and yr end tourney deserves a #1 seed and they have a great defense...no problem with the #1 seeds. Also I'm not comparing this yr's squad to last yr's champs..just saying you see Them 4th with Duke and 2 of last yrs final 4 teams While Wisc not even a top 10 team gets a #2 seed and 2 games in MIlw, Syracuse team has collapsed at the end of the yr gets a #3 and 2 games in Buffalo and Vill loses twice to Creighton in blowouts, loses the first game in theiir conference tourney and gets in the East bracket as a #2 seed, while Creighton gets a#3? ..i would love to see Louisville play Wisky or vill on a neutral floor

Just my two cents, I liked Louisville as well, they seem to be playing great right now, but looking closer I don't see them making the deep run everyone thinks they will. Using Pomeroy info, their SOS is not nearly as high as many other teams at .571. For comparisons sake, Wisconsin has .7253 SOS. Wichita State is at .5255 and everyone knows they had a soft schedule. In addition, Louisville only beat 7 top 100 teams based on Pomeroy rankings at the time of their game. Their 5 losses came against top 100 teams, so 7-5 vs top 100 teams. The only decent teams they really beat who are in the tourney are Uconn and Cinci. They split with Cinci and swept three games vs. Uconn, but I have to discount the Uconn sweep as Lville just seems to have their number. So only 4 wins vs top 100 if you remove Uconn. They have to go through either Wichita St or Kentucky, then Duke or Michigan in their bracket, and that's assuming they get past St. Louis or NC State. Not to mention, they already lost to Kentucky this year, although it was a home game for Kentucky. I watched them in their conference tourney and they looked great, but looking closer I don't know that they win more than maybe 2 games in the tourney. I think they got seeded properly.

I don't think you're getting it. Wisconsin may not be a top 10 team now but they've played a top 10 schedule hence the reason they have losses. They play good teams. Louisville does not.

Kaminsky will eat Harrell alive down low.

WHAT A FUCKING JOKE..

And Villanova a 2? They way the are playing..if they met in the east region, Louisville would beat them by double digits. Now they put hem in the same death bracket as Wichita ST and Michigan.....I'm sick..I had Louisville and Wichita st both going to the final four..

I also thought Mich st should be higher

at least we will more than likely get to see louisville and wichita rematch.. its on everyones must see game already puff_>>

Listen, you are doing a great job at capping right now and kudos to you for being on fire. I hope you keep it up and continue to cash in.

But my last post on this issue before we let this thread die away with all the action upcoming...

Plenty have done way more with less talent? Such as what? Made 1 Final 4?? That is way more? What defines way more? There is no way you can be serious with that list below.......or you have some hidden agenda that I am just not familiar with. (Beilien, Cal, Ryan, Fisher, Few, Miller, Wright??? Literally, that's comical.

As for the rest, they are all great coaches although i wouldn't consider taking Boeheim, Matta or Self over Pitino either. The others are studs (even though Roy does less with more talent than RP as you would say)

Again, good luck on your capping.....Love the new titles to your threads as well. Continued success to you these next 3 weeks.

Ok, I overdid it a bit. I got 14. And please don't tell me because a guy hasn't won a NC means he's not as good as Pittino. Plenty of coaches have done way more with less talent and the draw of Louisville or UK to recruit big time players. Some would argue S Smart is one of the best around. Some would say Marshall. They have done way more with way less talent.

Donovan
Matta
Boheim
Self
Izzo
K
R Williams
J Wright is a good coach but probably not on Pittino's level yet
S Miller
M Few (nobody has done more with less than coach Few)
B. Fisher
B Ryan
Cal

Louisville with or without Pitino can recruit itself. It's a basketball powerhouse and a destination top players want to go to.

Gonzaga is in the middle of nowhere Spokane. I know because I've been there and from Washington. It's a dump. Guy wins the division every year, somehow gets recruits and they typically get to the Sweet 16. Hell, they were a #1 seed last year. What that guy has done for that school basketball wise is nothing short of amazing.

That's all I'm saying. Send Pitino out to UC Irvine and give him 5 years and see if he can do what Mark Few has done at Gonzaga.

You wouldn't take Boeheim over Pitino? I'm kind of curious why not?

I'm not saying all of these guys are better than Pitino. That's not what I'm saying. I'm saying all of these guys are great coaches and had great success and could take a Louisville to the same level as Pitino given the opportunity.
