If anyone was truly envious of a franchise with one World Series appearance in past 18 seasons they would be envious of multiple teams

My ol' pal FestZit has dutifully posted updates in his anti-Cowboys thread here for over a decade and I am reasonably sure he is not envious of their on-field success during that time span

The title of this here Thread notes the 2021 Yankees having started the year in slowest fashion since 1997

Ongoing posts have simply added to that theme as they appear destined for a fourth place finish in AL East...a rarity since 1997 but not as rare lately since it would be their second such finish in past six seasons

Thanks for the reminder... haha

j/k.....they could well finish third...question now is if they can eclipse the 2016 84 Wins

I'll bet you that they will get to 85 wins. Let's say a dime for starters, want to go higher? Sure. We can have Willie hold the funds.

Really ??

6 losses in a row at home ??

in the heat of a pennant race

I think you and Bar should attend more games and support that team that could relocate to Montreal or Las Vegas in a couple of years. For Christ sake, the Rays are outdrawn on average attendance by the NHL Lightning!?! Pathetic. NHL is the 4th most popular major sport in America compared to MLB #2 . Canada's game is more popular in Tampa, a warm weather state! The strip bars are more popular! Break out the cardboard cutouts and place them on the empty seats of the the hideous Trop.

We so our part— have gone to games together as a matter of fact.
Demographics have changed dramatically over the past 40 years since the trop was conceived to lure the White Sox.
Look to the size of the Tampa Orlando TV market and viewers to see support.

Your attendance has always been subpar since I can remember unless the NY teams, Bosox, Cubs and Dodgers are passing through for a series then you'll get a good crowd or sellout from the transplants and travelers. Rays struggle to draw crowds with a pennant winner and successful franchise in recent years and with future talent. If your team tails off, sayonara off to greener pastures.

Take a look at the most lacksidasical defensive play by a catcher I may have ever seen in 53 years of watching The Great Game

https://twitter.com/SNYtv/status/1436475751633674244?s=19

Sanchez allows the tying score (1-1) and the Mets proceed to then open up a can on Montgomery

Down 8-2 it is of course finished given that 2021 Yankees are 3-35 when they allow 6+ runs

Astute....5TeamP and I have done Rays live before and are frankly pleased as punch that rival fans first smak-back is commenting on Trop attendance

Neander has clearly convinced owner Sternberg to stick with the overall plot laid out first by Andrew Freidman in 2014 when they traded David Price to Tigers...knowing full well that properly funding the MiL and Intl Draft scouting would create a juggernaut ML model within 5 years. The closest to that model in same time frame is Houston. Los Angeles obviously doing it as well albeit with almost triple the spending. Boston will begin seeing similar return on investment during next three years of TBRay alum C Bloom

Meanwhile Yankees will enter 2022 with five men (Stanton, Chapman,Britton, DJL & Judge) racking up a payroll surpassing the entire Rays first place roster

not quite

when the Knickerbockers won the Finals in spring of 1970 the Kansas City Chiefs were reigning NFL champs

Closest of which I am aware for a sports super city

On the morning of Jan 25, 1981 the Philadelphia Eagles were NFC Champions (would lose to Raiders that day); the Flyers were defending Eastern Conf champs (lost the Finals previous May); the Phillies were World Series champs and the 76ers were defending Eastern Conf champs (lost the Finals previous May)

No worries I know you were talking out of your ass here and wouldn't dare accept this bet. I called your bluff and BS. Try no bluffing with a 2-7 off suit.

JUGGERNAUT? How many WS championships have you won with this squad? O...O...O

A pennant winner is not a juggernaut. You have a very good team let's leave it at that. But will they still be there? Can they outdraw the Lightning in average attendance? Can you hold onto your players when it's time to pay the piper? Or are we to assume your MiL system will produce players forever and ever!

Season started in '69...much closer than the grasping for straws example of Philly below you cited.

Entering Saturday night's game vs Metropolitans:

The Yankees are 2-11 since their 13-game winning streak.

They are the 2nd team in MLB history to go 2-11 or worse in the 13 games immediately following a single-season win streak of 13+ games (1991 Rangers).

h/t @EliasSports https://t.co/3MTSdd5AG1

Was Saturday's win a fresh flip of the script or just a burp between two losing streaks?

Nice crowd at the Trop tonight. Important game with playoff implications, visiting hot Blue Jays with leading AL CY Young candidate, Robbie Ray on the mound against the Rays best starting pitching prospect in Shane Baz, which some are calling the second coming of Nolan Ryan. With Jays fans in the crowd and I believe some cardboard cutout leftovers from last season they cracked...10k. Sad and pathetic. I think Barman and 5T need to accept their RSVP's next time to support that team.
