Tigers sweep??

Detroit posted six runs against the Yankees, while the Yanks’ bats continued to be as menacing as milk. The 6-1 loss was the fourth in five games for the Yankees, and they now face the prospect of being swept by the AL Central cellar-dwelling Tigers tomorrow afternoon.

The lowly Birds of Baltimore have last place in ALE locked up but there's little reason to not forecast the understaffed Yankees as finishing fourth for the second time in past six years

The Yankees dropped behind Toronto into fourth in the AL East. They are 3-9 in their past 12 games, averaging just 2.4 runs, and fell to 14-21 against division foes.
“That’s not good," manager Aaron Boone said. "If we’re gonna be the club we expect to be, we need to improve that and turn that around.”

As Bill Parcells used to say “You are what your record says”. Face it: the N Y Yankees are an average middle of the pack team.
They deserve that record.

Swept by the BOSOX

[h=1]Red Sox sweep Yankees for second time this season[/h]

Devers finished with three hits and four RBIs, and J.D. Martinez and Christian Vazquez also went deep as the Red Sox improved to 6-0 against the Yankees. Boston has outscored its rival 36-17 in the season series.

Yankee fans need to come to terms with fact that if the entire 26man roster were DFAd today, about a dozen men would be snapped up and the rest would clear waivers

What a disaster
https://nypost.com/2021/07/01/aroldis-chapman-may-have-just-burned-down-yankees-season/
[h=1]Aroldis Chapman may have just burned down Yankees season[/h]

The $201 million Yankees have no choice but to own this latest unmitigated disaster. Above all, Chapman has to own it, just like he had to own Jose Altuve’s walk-off homer in the ALCS. His ERA over his last 13 appearances is now north of 6.00. He spoke early Thursday morning about a fastball command that has deserted him. He said through an interpreter that he needed to “find myself again with that pitch, and come back to be the Chapman that started the season.”
Problem is, it might already be too late. Boone said the season was on the brink, and this is how his team responded. If the Yankees still had a chance to salvage something, it felt like their flamethrower just burned it down.

Stunning that after living and working in the USA for over a decade that Chapman requires an interpreter to talk to the leering press

Yankees run differential at halfway point is minus3 - strong evidence they will struggle to reach 82 wins

Another L

Playing their first game since allowing seven runs in the ninth inning of an 11-8 loss to the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday, the Yankees were held to just three hits. They lost for the sixth time in seven games and the latest loss occurred two days after managing general partner Hal Steinbrenner said the jobs of general manager Brian Cashman and manager Aaron Boone were safe while putting the onus on the players.

Chapman implodes

Former WFAN host Mike Francesa thinks the latest loss, which dropped the Yankees to .500 and 10 games out (pending the result of the Red Sox game) is even more sacrilegious than the other 40 losses because it came on Independence Day, George Steinbrenner’s birthday.

If the Mets sweep, someone has got to go.

Replacing GM or MGR at this point changes nothing

They are a sub .500 roster and it's likely 2023 before fhey have any shot at serious contention in the heavy ALEast

13 wins in a row!!

The Yankees entered tonight’s contest on their longest winning streak since 1961. Every night it’s a different contributor, whether that be dominant starting pitcher, a lockdown bullpen, or offensive contributions up and down the lineup. It turns out they got all three tonight as they easily handled the Athletics 8-2 for their thirteenth win in a row.
