Better check that again...I haven't heard a word about PH opening. Maybe you are talking about Sept 24 which could be possible. Cromwell is not opening because they are shooting a reality TV show there...Rio may never open...speculation is the PH isn't going to open soon because they don't have an elaborate pool plus they are trying to fill beds next door at Ballys/Paris.
I was in the Linq last night where they could not have been more than 50 people in the place at around six...doesn't include a line at Guy Fieri's restaurant. Went next door to Harrahs which was very busy.

Tropicana pushed back their opening to Sep7...was Sep1. Rather than the "passing through," viewpoint, if you are actually onsite everyday you will see that the local casinos continue to be busy while the strip is very slow even for August. Pool attendance has maintained although access is challenging due to social distancing. There are still plenty of people coming from CA for the low room rates and to escape that hellscape, but passengers arriving by air is at 22% of the same summer month from last year. The next shoe to drop will be the Rodeo Championships in November. The Governor continues to do all he can to keep his foot down on the economy.
There is no doom and gloom re: the health safety of visitors as long as you follow the guidelines. The underlying issue is lack of access and service in LV based on closings and political decision making.

I believe the increased activity here is based on cheap flights and hotel giveaways.. Alot of black people and black families here this weekend.. Significantly higher than I've ever seen here. Maybe for some , might be their best opportunity to come out.

Only signed up for Circa Million and Survivor contests. Only because of the expected overlay.. Supercontest might have the lowest amount of entries ever. With 8% house rake , makes no sense to get in this year

I actually noticed the increase in black visitors too. Was at Flamingo two days last week and it was at least 50%. Will be there for three days next week then at Caesar's for the Derby. Locals can pretty much pick their spot for comps plus CET doesn't charge room/parking fees if you have Diamond status. On the flip side, you have to checkout every activity to ensure the restaurant or site you want to go to is open. CA and AZ have been even more restrictive than LV so I think some of those citizens are looking for an escape even with the limitations.
Probably will sign up for that Circa LMS contest myself.

My son played poker last night at belaggio and aria said casinos were pretty busy. Checked out this am driving back to San Diego. He’s pumped hard to pass up on a free room in Vegas during football season. Bar was closed right outside of Sportsbook at aria hard to imagine that doesn’t change once nfl begins . iIf nfl is somehow cancelled that would be a dagger to Vegas .

Interesting. When I went about 6 weeks ago I noticed the same thing at the Flamingo. It wasn't like the famous NBA All-Star weekend, but it seemed like it was close to 50% African American clientele the weekend I went.

I wasn't impressed with that I saw there during my trip. Pretty much agree with what 3peet has posted here. Handled my business with signing up for contests, but don't want to return with the current scene. I missed the brawl in the video, but I'm sure it wasn't the only incident. Vegas police and casinos better get this type of stuff under control.

Here's another thing that was just as important that hit me in retrospect. The clientele isn't there. The Vegas strip doesn't feel the same. Walking the strip at night? We went to check out the Bellagio Fountain walking from the Paris. Just a walk across the street. Fuggetabouit At night, nothing but drug addicts, homeless, and shaddy people. Looks like an abandoned city and the only ones left are the junkies and zombies. And the other side of the clientele? It's the people spending their $600 unemployment check. Rates are cheap so it brings in the people who would pay that rate. They probably paid $19 a night to stay at Circus Circus and head over to the Bellagio and ruin the view. Hey in my single days, a group of ho's walking thru the lobby with a thong, and nipple covers would actually be cool to see. Now i'm there with family, it looks like i'm in the Tenderloin District of San Francisco. Straight trash. You know, giving the excuse to the security guard at the elevator when asked for a copy of their room key, "oh i left it some where. My girlfriend has it"

Wait till its back to normal before you go.

From your post on August 5th, to my eyes this past weekend, not much has changed.

On the bright side, South Point's poker room seemed to be business as usual.

I heard there was a couple dozen cop cars on the strip this morning. Did it have anything to do with this video ? Spilled into the street ?

27 people were arrested between Sat/Sunday night as there were multiple brawls up and down the strip. Casinos noted in the newspaper that they are re-evaluating the free/low cost room rates to ensure they maintain the right mix of customers....read that as being tired of black people starting fights. Not all of the combatants have been black, but you can definitely tell there is a different class of people in LV right now. The casinos excuse has been that the fighters are not guests of that particular hotel, but they are staying somewhere right?

Low cost rooms , plus the cheap flights to get there.. A couple weeks ago on my trip , never have seen so many blacks flying.

Not all blacks causing the trouble, but I will say that 90% of the idiot young people speeding on scooters are black. That has really begun to cause an issue.
