Kobe is too selfish. Game 2 final seconds, he goes 1 on 4, and gets swatted by Turkoglu, despite having 3 wide open teammates. Kobe wants the limelight. Jordan just wanted to win. That's the major difference between the two.

Looking at their WIKI pages they really arent that far apart.

Kobe going to have to finish his career and retire before we can decide I guess.

Kobes only 30 he has another good 5 or so years he can play at this level

Anyone that thinks Kobe is anywhere near Jordan is forgetting the fact that the NBA 20 years ago was 4 times better than the current NBA. No matter how you look at it, from an individual or a team point of view, there is really no comparison.

I am more impressed watching Kobe's raw footage than Jordan's.

The only thing that can sell Jordan for me is how he played the game.

I believe Kobe is the better player. It's close though.

this is useless argument that can never be won, it depends on what players are surrounding them, if it is a team of shooters, post players, defensive players, run-n-gun style, half court team, full court team, supporting players. kobe maybe a better fit than jordan on some of those teams or styles of play and jordan maybe be better on others

everyone can say which player they would rather have on their team.... but i think jordan overall will win that vote

Michael Jordan #1 if both were in their primes right now I would bet everything I got on MJ he would school Kobe Bryant. Players like MJ are rare breeds they come along every 20 yrs or so IMO Kobe is a great player but nothing to re-write how the game is played.

When M.Jordan was playing everyone else was playing for second place.

But for the first three championships, Kobe was the Lakers 2nd best player. The other two times he made the Finals and lost he was not the best player on the court. Though he deserves credit for being one of the best those five years, it is not close to Jordan level

Even before Pippen and Grant became All-Stars, the Bulls never went through the slump the Lakers hit in 05 to 07. Even before Pippen and Grant helped Jordan win championships, Jordan was the best player on the court when they lost to the Pistons

I honestly have no idea how close most people think Jordan and Bryant are. I only know that the difference between the best player in history (Jordan) and whomever is second, is greater than the distance between second and tenth (around where Bryant is now)

But for Kobe, Duncan has 7 rings - SA held Shaq to 19 PPG through out all those playoff series - just could not stop Kobe and SA had the league's best man to man defender at the time in Bowen

Whose everyone? Shawn Kemp, John Starks, Craig Ehlo and John Stockton? Jordan would have 3 rings if he faced the 80's Lakers, C's or Pistons or Kobe and Shaq or Robinson, Duncan, Parker and Manu - with that said, Jordan is undisputed the best ever

That statement isn't surprising coming from Mark Jackson, someone who always thought himself that he was better than he was......

People are also forgeting th fact that it was a different ERA with different rules. More points were scored during that time period other other statistical categories due to differences in some of the rules such as hand checking, zone defences, etc.....

What the hell are you talking about? Shaq scored 24 points per game those years when the two teams met in the playoffs

First time the Lakers won, San Antonio lost in the first round the Pheonix; 2002 Sacramento was easily the second best team in the league (some people might say first, either way ahead of the Spurs); the other time, they were swept by LA, losing a couple games by 30, even with a league average gaurd, can't say San Antonio would have beaten them (or maybe instead they would have lost to Sacramento or Philadelphia, both of whom played LA a lot closer)

While Duncan deserves so much credit for being the biggest factor in each of San Antonio's four championships, each year they didn't win, there were a number of things standing in their way. To say if not for Bryant, Duncan would have seven championships makes as much sense as saying if not for Jordan, Patrick Ewing would have six

Shaq averaged 19 points in all the playoffs combined against SA - if you'd like when I get some time I will post the box scores - SA lost to Phoenix? - um yeah, but did Tim Duncan play in the playoffs that year? - it's true that the Kings were probably the best team when the refs cheated them out of a title (I forgot about that one year)

I only counted 01 and 02, forgot about 2004, which is perhaps even more silly to say it was singularly Kobe Bryant that year that prevented San Antonio from winning the title. Still makes as much sense as saying Jordan is the reason Cleveland didn't win multiple titles
