I hope so, too. Can't believe you just said the Cardinal lineup is better than the Phillies....
I hope they meet in the NL finals....
Hamels isn't worthy of sniffing Wainwright's jock this season. I love it that nobody is talking about Piniero still.Never said Zorbrist sucks dude.
Card lineup is not better than Phils top to bottom, if we were just talking about 3-4 in the order, yeah, it doesn't get much better than Pujols/Holliday, but we are talking 1-6, and nobody can compare to the Philly 1-6 hitters.
Nobody!
Carp/Wainwright edges out Lee/Hamels, I'll give you that, but Lee can match zeros with Carp on any given night.
When Hamels is on, he is more than capable of striking out 13 going eight innings.
It's not like he hasn't done that before.
Try to spin what, dude?Trying to spin things like "He batted .000 in the ALCS" is flat out ridiculous.
I was just having a little fun. You said that the Phillies would beat the Cards, so I thought I'd remind you of another prediction that you made awhile back that Zobrist would struggle to hit .240.Try to spin what, dude?
I never mentioned Zorbrist to begin with.
You came out of left field with that name.
My original point was Cards did well picking up Holliday to protect Pujols in the order, but Lee was the acquistion that will put Phil back in the World Series.
How did Zorbrist enter this conversation?
Where did I say he sucked?
He doesn't even belong in a Card/Phil conversation, I have no idea why you even introcued him into this conversation. He's in the AL playing for the Rays.
I'll say it one more time, but it's off topic to this conversation, Zorbrist was/is probably the best bench role player in both leagues, he is doing well for himself now that he was forced into the daily regular lineup, he isn't the .249 lifetime hitter that he is, but he wasn't the .316 hitter he was two months ago, he is more that likely inbetween that.
If played every day, he'll give you .275-20-75 (something like that) but he gets on base, so his OBA should be .355 or maybe a tad higher.
He's a nice player, never said he sucked.
Hamels isn't worthy of sniffing Wainwright's jock this season. I love it that nobody is talking about Piniero still.
With the roster changes, I don't know how anybody could say that the Phils are a definite favorite over the Cards. Looks PK at best to me. But the Cards were still 6-1 last week, and the Phillies were +250. Where is the value? It's on the Cardinals.
I was sorry to miss it. I will definitely try to make it next year. Usually an every other year thing for me, but maybe I should make it an annual trip.I will give you PK now if it is the Phils and the Cards....you want some?
Good to see you around here...missed you at the BASH....:toast:
I think Zobrist's days as a utility player are over. He's been batting cleanup for the past month, and he's too good of a player not to play everyday. It will be interesting to see what the Rays do next season. They have an option on Iwamura for like $4.75 mil or something. I don't think Zobrist will be eligible for arbitration until 2011. Will they just let Iwamura go?As an everyday player, I indeed thought Zorbrist would struggle a bit, (struggling is not sucking) coming off the bench and doing that super-sub thing that he did (he was the best in the league at that) he could hit .300, but I thought he'd struggle against everyday righties, so far he's holding his own batting .272.
Cards at 6-1 has a lot of value, hope you cash that since I have not monetary interest in the NL.
It should be Cards v. Phils, LAD has to be considered also, but I don't think the everyday lineup is good enough.
Now watch, some Dodger fan is going to jump ugly on me, and I am going to have to defend this post seven times.
lol
out of harden , Zambo and Dempster, at least 2 of those 3 will finish with an era under 4.00......every Cardinal on that list will end up over 4.00 with the possible exception of Carpenter, IF he can stay healthy....Cubs pitchers started off slow and will round into form...Cards pitchers started out well to get those numbers, and THEY TOO will "round into form"....
there is NO COMPARISON in the 2 starting staffs.......
the only pitching problem for the cubs this year (barring major unforseen injuries which can hurt any team) is the bullpen situation
