Cannot disagree more with you guys... will be fun to reply back to this thread the next few years. Howard is a way better option then hiring a mid major coach or the coach at Loyola... Howard stepping into a great situation from Beilein and will be able to recruit well... not sure where all the hate is coming from?

Dudes had a 19 year nba career and has been an assistant with one of the best cultures in the nba for 6 years..he can get interviews for nba head coaching jobs, but not Michigan’s job? Lol... lots of hate.

Don't think I've conversed with this poster much but good call going against the grain.

FSU destructed themselves .. just like they do every year with an important game.

they don't play a disciplined game, doesn't work in the dance

And Patrick Ewing sucks as does Penny Hardaway. Penny can get all the talent in the world but can they coach? Signs point to no.

No, that's not what I'm saying. I'm saying Juwan Howard needs to prove himself at a much lower level as a head coach to even be considered for a head coaching job. He's way over his head.

Juwan Howard is a big name. So what? He's never coached a jockstrap let alone a Big 10 powerhouse program.

Patrick just won the Big East title .
Hardaway just won the NIT and Howard is a game away from the final 4 without his best player .

This post aged well.

the fact that you're suggesting this guy to surround himself with veteran assistants kinda confirms what we're saying here.. in over his head

Are you saying that if a coach hired good assistants that’s a sign they are a bad coach ?

I guarantee you he won’t be successful at Michigan. And making the tourney isn’t successful for Michigan basketball.

What about the elite 8 without their best player when every expert said they would lose in the 2nd round

no ....it's a sign that some coaches might need some help.... Martelli was a great coach..great hire.. Howard can do his thing. recruit , and jump up and down on the sideline like he needs help with a flat tire on the side of a highway

I would imagine all coaches need some help otherwise there would be no such thing as assistant coaches

it helps when your playing two very undisciplined teams in LSU and FSU.. but good wins nonetheless.. the real story here is why everyone in the media is saluting Leonard Robinson as some great coach.. His next big win will be his first.

I don't follow CBB enough to have a real opinion on this but Mich -7.5 vs UCLA seems a bit high, UCLA has looked good

It was a janky year, tough to put too much into pre-tourney seeding at this point

I guess a better way of putting it is ..... How many former coaches can you name are sitting on the bench as asst coaches outside of Martelli ?

We're 16 minutes away from me going undefeated in CBB this year, tough for Juwan to overcome that.

What will the line be on Gonzaga/UCLA? That's gotta be DD

Greg Anthony was definitely wrong at the end when Smith took the pullup 3, said you can drive to get a better shot. Unless you get a layup, an open 3 for a good shooter is the best shot you're going to get in that situation EV wise. And if he drives, he's just gonna have to take a midrange or kick out to another guy taking a worse 3.

Well anyway , hopefully we can bury this thread awhile alongside the Lamar thread..

I did say though , the deer in the headlights look would rue its ugly head..
