I just watched a YouTube video by Bill of Laurent making an unbelievable save at Ocala.
It occurs more than 5 minutes in, which gives you a chance to see the level of play of the other players as well.
It was really good. I didn't know who the 3 front was, but turns out it was Erik Popp. Great skill and intensity. Afterwards, I read Bill's comment that "he is loaded with talent". Just based on that video, I would have to agree.
Anyway the save by Laurent was one in a million and shows just how beautiful jai-alai can be.
Whoever the big guy was in back for post 4 just CRANKED the return, which amazingly took off from the back wall like Son of Flubber. Laurent reacted immediately, flying up the court, and managed a desperation behind-the-back flip which turned into a picture perfect unplayable high bounce carom. Laurent's momentum led to him diving face first on the wood and sliding 15 feet or more.
Play of the Day anytime, if jai-alai were a big time sport.
Jai-Lee recommended.

I do as well, but to witness the game played well, not as a way to make money.
I believe Miami has the best players, with Dania not too far behind. Ocala runs a token short season, Hamilton even shorter, not sure where else they play and when/how. Supposedly coming to Texas in the near future !

After some legwork by yours truly, you can now bet the .50 cent Dania trifecta online !
Apparently they didn't know Dania was offering it, so it wasn't available on their website. ( However, .10 cent supers are ).
After that single .50 cent ticket was sold for the $10,000 tri on Tuesday, I figured "I'd just about had enough" ( to quote Morgan Freeman in Shawshank ! )
I'm not betting until tomorrow night, so will someone with an account let me know if it works ?

I think if people started watching the game online , they might get interested in the sport, then hopefully come see it live

I hope to attend the grand opening of Ct Amateur jai alai in Berlin,ct .
Joey and Churruca are supposed to be there, as celebrities. Both are great former players, like Yastremski ( Churruca) and Ozzie ( Joey) in MLB.
The guy that built this court loves the game, mortgaged his house to do it....but has a knock against him.... Matt played as a strike replacement player, I'd have done the same, but still you're a scab player.... I think this was late 80's....
God, I hope , I can compete with these guys, not at all likely, though. I haven't played in 25 years, and no practice.....I'll get smoked for certain....if I get the chance ?
