I said throughout the entire thread, he should've and could've done more but he did report what he was told to his boss. He didn't hide anything. He did not cover up the rapes.
Did he do something? Yes. Could he have done more? Absolutely.

Well, I jumped the gun about the ramming the kid in the rear. I think what was said by Big Red was something extremely sexual was taking place or something like that. Don't remember the exact verbiage of the conversation revealed during testimony.
Chop, I've been consistent all along with this. Joe Pa was old and senile. I know that isn't an excuse but by his own admission, he was told what he was told, he didn't know what to do or how to do it but he went the next day and told his direct supervisor or his boss.
At that point, he thought it was being handled and he went back to doing what he did best. It wasn't handled and when he saw Sandusky again in the locker room later, he should've done more.
In this scenario, does this inaction mean we discount everything the man has ever done? All the money he and his wife donated to the school? All the kids he helped throughout the years?

If he seriously knew that boys were being abused and had the power to stop it in the position he held and didn't , I don't see having anything to remind the victims of that era. Well, that's my issue Stevie and I think you make a fair point. It's been up for dispute for a long time as to exactly what he knew or thought was going on in that shower.
But furthermore, if a guy knows something he should report and he does immediately and then his boss tells him he'll take care of it, is he crossing the line going above his boss at that point? If later, he still sees Sandusky, that's the part I have issue with. When he saw him again in the locker area, he should've then went back to his boss then the police.

I do know the police have said he always cooperated, and he didn't commit plagiarism. I believe Joe believed he was innocent, and based on the words of the kids who played for him he seems like a great coach and person
it's also plausible he may have known about an isolated incident which also appeared to be reported to and addressed by authorities
I don't think he knew about the extent of his friend's deviant behavior, I don't think he knew it was an epidemic
and I'm going to conclude by suggesting most of us have been surprised by the skeletons hiding in somebody we know's closet
the head football coach at that level has one million and one distractions, responsibilities, activities, concerns............................, I'm not blaming his age although I may blame his generational thinking (they were the greatest generation, honorable and trusting)
