HAHA there are worst cities than Compton in southern california.. N.W.A really put Compton on the map:toast:

I have on in mind. East St. Louis, Illinois might suggest another world." The city, which is 98 percent black, has no obstetric services, no regular trash collection, and few jobs. Nearly a third of its families live on less than $7,500 a year; 75 percent of its population lives on welfare of some form. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development describes it as "the most distressed small city in America."

Fiscal shortages have forced the layoff of 1,170 of the city's 1,400 employees in the past 12 years. The city, which is often unable to buy heating fuel or toilet paper for the city hall, recently announced that it might have to cashier all but 10 percent of the remaining work force of 230.

Of all the places I've gone to I think I'd go back to live in Inverness in the Scottish Highlands in August only, then in January to Zermatt Switzerland, But always be able to come back to New York.

Zermatt surprised me, it is very close to the Matterhorn and the only way you can get there is by train. No cars in the town and the taxi's were horse and sleigh, that's the way it was n the late 70's, that's the appeal & I presume it's still that way.

These places would be monthly getaways, NY suburbs are great.

Last time I was there, Baloy River hadn't 'hardened up' yet. Subic does need to build a waste treatment plant. There hasn't been any tuberculosis anywhere so I"m guessing the bay dispurses the water out into the ocean without any significant consequences to the water or beaches.

Luckily, the hotels in the barretto area pay for having the beaches cleaned up almost weekly. I never swim in the Bay (although many do).

Always wondered if Jombien's beach was better than Subic's beach but I haven't gotten my butt over to Pattaya yet. Someday perhaps. But I do like the filipino girls knowing english. And after initially 'hooking up', repeat visits without EWR fees make it really affordable (600-1000 pesos).

The golf in Subic doesn't come close to the stuff you're talking about in Pattaya, but the tennis situation is probably much better than anything in Pattaya. World class facility.

Trying to sell my house and get back for good. Hope it doesn't take too long. It's killing me not being there. :ohno:

Jomtien's beaches are not that hot, but they do for just lying around and enjoying the scenery...

The golf, women, bars, and food are another story...

Diving and snorkling are becoming an added attraction to the country....

Been living in foreign countries half my life...don't think I could ever live in the states again...

Will be getting a retirement visa here in Thailand soon...
