I love these Marlins, from back before they made the play-offs even. They will win the series regardless of who they face.

peetep.. where in the heck did you get 400-1 odds on the marlins? I was under the impression these things dont go much above the 200's... what is a team like Tampa Bay priced at early in the season at this book?

you are laughing - you should lay the marlins at Betfair at 2.9 you will have lots of takers there.

Hey guys. So here is the scenario so far. I like where I stand.

Round 1 against Giants - Don't do a damn thing. Marlins win. I clap very hard.

Round 2 vs. Cubs - I wait till the Fish to win game one, lay $800 at -120. Fish win in dramatic fashion. At this point I clap and yell expletives at various cub fans at the bar.

So here I am, sitting on a $100 wager at 400-1 odds. I stand to win 40k and have lost $800 hedging so far. Thanks you Marlins and thank you Wrigley for keeping that damn goat out of your ballpark!

So how much are you going to put on the Yankees? And when do you plan on betting it now or after some game in the series?

The best price I have seen on the Yanks so far is -197 for the series. As of now, my plan is to throw $5k to win $2538 before the series. If they win game one(the fish) I will throw another grand on the yanks at what will probably be -120 to -130. I could hedge a lot more to guarantee a bigger win, but the gambler in me makes me go the other way. I love this Florida team.......let's win four more shall we.

GL, peep, the accountant in me would play it differently like I did the Cubs WS hedge to cash 100 units if the Marlins won. I of course have to cheer for the Marlins because I hate dem damn Yankees - but, and I ain't sayin' you do this, but I'd probably lay $20,000 to win a little over 10k on the Yankees and still cash 20K on the Fish, which would be a return of 100-1 on the Yanks and 200-1 on the Fish on your original $100 risked. Less the 800 lost, you're still up minimum of almost 9.6K.

But hell, it all depends on what stakes you gamble at - it may not be that big a deal to you.

So, GO YOU FVCKING FISH!!!!!!!!!

i really hope the marlins win for you and like you i think they have a great chance of winning game 1. Your plan of putting 5K on yankees now is fair enough BUT what if the yankees win game 1 - you will really need to dig deep into the resources then so i'd suggest stick on 8-10k now and then see what happens with game 1.

What book is holding the bet? Hopefully, it's a top tier book and not a NASA-type shitbook that might stiff you, cancel the wager, cry bad line, etc., if the fish are able to win...

Wow. No replies to the book. Should I feel confident that bluegrass will pay if the fish win?

me personally, i can list you 26 reasons why i never play futures.. And one of those 26 reasons is why in the world would anyone take a chance and win 40,000 dollars with a book. It's hard enough to win that bet, and now, when you win it, you have to sweat. First of all, if you do win this 40k, you really think you will not be nervous to collect it? I'd like to see anyone here win 40k from a book that is not even a big book, and see if you get paid or not. The owner will look at your 40k, and laugh, and you risk hearing,, what 40k? sorry, but I don't know what you're talking about..

Now I am not saying Bluegrass is a shit book, because they are a decent book, but I would only do this with Olympic, Pinnacle, WSEX and no other book..

Heres what you should do. Get to Vegas tomorrow.
Bet against the Marlins evry day for 2 dimes. By next Sunday you will be comped for your stay, have a great week in Vegas, and If yankees win, you will make a few dimes, if marlins win, you'llwin 25 - 30 dimes! Go, get on a Southwest jet now!

Hey peteep,

I don't really care to hear about how you hedged. I want to hear about the psychological impact (damage?) this bet has had on you.
How about telling us where your head was at when the Marlins were down 3-1 to the Cubs and they had to face Prior and Wood again. Are you married? Girlfriend? Do you intend on telling your lesser half about your big win. At this point you're way up if you cover with a Yankees series win.
Will you be sending a prezzy to the Cubs' fan who stole an out? Or Alex Gonzalez?
Did you ever consider negotiating a hedge with Bluegrass so you don't have to post up a lot more to cover yourself?

Thanks to the General for helping me find this thread.

Peteep - I'm still right here pulling for you man. Wasn't smart enough to play them at the beginning like you but cashed with you on both series they've won so far and hoping to cash with you one more time.

LET'S GO MARLINS!!!!
