I will have to disagree with this. My argument was that he didn't have a case... not that he couldn't come up with some frivolous lawsuit if he wanted. And because he didn't have a case he would sell either on his own or the NBA would take over after they voted. Most people were arguing that he would hold this up in court for years and that this is no where close to being over. I said it will be done fast and quickly. And sure enough, my real world knowledge is correct again.

Lot of people here should use this as a lesson. You being one of them.

You just proved everyone else's point. He didn't take legal action. There hasn't even been a vote yet. You stated that he would be forced by the NBA to sell the team. If he voluntarily sells the team, the entire argument is moot.

I can tell you aren't a lawyer.

Are you kidding me??? Hahahahaha. There is nothing voluntary about him selling the team if he sells it. He can "voluntarily" sell it instead of the NBA selling it for him if that's what you mean. But let's be honest, he is being forced to sell the team regardless.

Even if he is annoying and a weak debater or whatever...

He was right in his overall point that Sterling would back down and this resolution wasn't going to be nearly as dramatic and complex as people thought.

Not saying AK is right or wrong, but Sterling is backing down? Might want to check ESPN, chief.

Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling has no intention of selling the team and "is going to fight to the bloody end," his lawyer, Max Blecher told ESPN on Tuesday.

Sterling responded forcefully to the NBA's charges to terminate his ownership Tuesday evening, calling the NBA's penalties "draconian" and the proceedings a "sham."

In the documents sent to the NBA offices Tuesday, Sterling denies every allegation and charge made by the NBA and asks that the proceedings to terminate him at a hearing of the Board of Governors on June 3 be dismissed.

"I believe what they've done is illegal and it will not hold up in court," Blecher told ESPN. "I believe what they're doing is a blatant invasion of his constitutional rights because they're using a tape recording that he did not consent to and under California law that recording cannot be used for any purpose, for any proceeding.

"So if the basis of their case is illegal evidence, they don't have much of a case. ... The whole thing is a pile of garbage."

Blecher also said that Sterling was "disavowing" anything his wife Shelly Sterling has done to try and negotiate a sale of the team.

Did you read my posts?

I said it wouldn't surprise me at all if Sterling was much more defiant than is being portrayed right now. I just said based on the latest news that we knew at the time it seemed like it was going in the direction of Akphi being right.

I hope he fights it. I have some bets on the vote being 29-0 and if he just folds up that won't even take place.

Blecher also said that Sterling was "disavowing" anything his wife Shelly Sterling has done to try and negotiate a sale of the team.

Pierce O'Donnell, the attorney for Shelly Sterling, issued a statement Tuesday confirming that, "Donald Sterling has authorized Shelly Sterling in writing to negotiate the sale of the Los Angeles Clippers, including his 50 percent ownership of the team" and that his client "and the NBA are working cooperatively on the transaction."

Shelly Sterling has retained Bank of America to help sell the franchise. ESPN reported on Sunday that at least six serious groups have approached Shelly Sterling and her advisers about purchasing the team.

I think he might sue the NBA for their actions, but he's not going to hold up the sale.

Ha, you mean your post where you said, "He was right in his overall point that Sterling would back down and this resolution wasn't going to be nearly as dramatic and complex as people thought."? Yeah I read that. Sounds a little more confident than "heading the direction of Akphi being right." Just my opinion though.

Could very well be the case. As I said in my post, not saying you were right or wrong.

Check post #873...If I threw an "if it continues on the current trajectory...." into post #875 would that have been suitable for you?
If you read post #873 you can easily tell this was my POV. No need to take anything out of context.

What is this a fucking court room?
Don't be an Enfuego man.

Relax, dude. Not sure what "don't be an enfuego" means but I'll keep that in mind. Fair point on post 873. You did qualify it there. My mistake for missing that post, although, you telling everyone to let him gloat kind of implies that this is over.

lol I am relaxed.

Sure you can see why it was a little perplexing to me given that I qualified my opinion with "headed in direction"

Obviously I don't know what Sterling's future actions will be. I don't even think he knows what his future actions will be based on CNN interview.

It is over. The owners votes on June 3rd... if Shelley Sterling doesn't get an agreement with the NBA by then, the NBA will then put it on the market. He can sue for something else if he wants.

2.5billion though that is insane.

Forbes probably needs to do a piece explaining why their valuations are so off and then revamp the whole process.

I said it would be over 1.5 and that felt like a unique opinion at the time.

Yeah, that was my bad. Nothing Sterling decides to do would surprise me at this point. Agree that 2.5 billion is an insane number. That's double what I expected. I assumed 1.2-1.3.

That's crazy. If it gets 2.5 I will be amazed. That's a ridiculous price to pay for the second most popular team in the city.

$900-$1.1B. I think it settles right around 1.05B

Where did you get the $2.5B valuation from? Forbes
