Good friend of mine in the business says that he doesn't care who wins (sharps vs squares)....the bottom line on Monday is all that matters....

I do know that squares watch too much TV while the sharps are doing their homework....

One more thing, sharps know how to minipulate a line, especially when the squares are on a side...

And books do gamble...only a handful know how....

LOL, thought you would take it to the Next Level :drink:

Google the name Billy Walters and read about one of the best sharps of all time. Also, sharps know that hitting 55% of there games is gold. The touts who claim to hit 65%-75% are full of crap. That is why sharps are volume bettors. They know that for every $1.00 bet they are getting a $1.03 return. Great discussion.

imho the biggest difference between a professional and a recreational bettor is the following:

a pro gets a fav @ -6.5
everyone else gets in @ -7 or even -7.5 and buys the half

a pro gets u41.5
everyone else gets u40

75% of the time it doesn't matter
the 25% of the time it does matter makes a huge swing in bankroll

money management goes without saying but the average joe can do that as well either by flat betting and definitely by not chasing

but getting the best number is a big sign that someone is taking care of business and getting paid

Trent, this is a great point. I am NOT sharp (by anyone's defintion), but I try to avoid SQUARE plays. What makes me sharp is reading, reading, and reading some more. Once I decide on a play I look for the best available line and if it isn't a good line then don't play it. My advice, get away from making wagers on line and get at least 2 if not 3 locals. Take advantage of the sharp action by taking advantage of locals that are not nearly as up to date with information and line moves as offshore books. Sure, some are, but many are not. Getting better lines and often stale lines with a local that are not available offshore is big. Who else got Kent St +1.5 30 minutes prior to kickoff, not likely anyone offshore. Just something to add to the convo.
