If it were just the flu, there would be just 2,051 deaths.

1,539 deaths today.
752 NY
351 NJ
536 the rest.

36 states with 8 or less although the numbers will get worse because MI, MA and IL haven't checked in yet. Most likely around 300 between the 3.

Who knows how accurate the numbers are now Raiders given NY is "presuming" people have died from the virus. What a crock of shit.

I guess it fits your narrative to include China, Iran, etc in your numbers. Let's look at the US and forget about the denominator. In 2018, a bad flu year, per the CDC website, there were 61,000 US deaths. Ironically, that is almost the exact number forecasted by the most quoted and often downgraded model. No states were shut down in 2018. You might also consider all of the whining about lack of tests. Increased testing would dramatically impact the ratio in the US as would discontinuation of the practice of attributing every death to Covid regardless of primary disease. All of the data point to one thing...it's a bad flu season with a concentration in a grouping of northeastern states that happens to be the media center of their own world.

What part of 3X more infectious and 65X deadlier than the flu do you clueless hoaxers not comprehend? If 100,000 people caught the Coronavirus and 50,000 died (50% death rate), would you still be arguing it's no worse than the flu? Of course not, cause death rate matters doesn't it? If you were investing your money, would you rather get 6.5% interest or .01%? So why are you arguing that it's the same? Plus there were 2 other flu seasons that were deadlier (death rate) in the past 10 years than the one you mentioned. Only reason it had a higher death toll was because 45M caught it, 16M more than the previous year and 10M more than the next year.

Plus you clowns never factor in the lockdowns and social distancing like it had no effect on lowering transmissions. How else do you think ancient civilizations survived Pandemics when no vaccines existed? Had we listened to you clowns and acted like it was the flu, 3 Billion would've become infected and 195M dead.

Still think it's no worse than the flu, moron?????

differences between the flu and the coronavirus.
1) we have a flu shot, there is none for covid-19
2) there are tests for the flu, there is a shortage of tests for the corona virus in addition to sometimes
long delays in getting results and false results.
3) covid-19 is much more asymptomatic than the flu meaning that one can easily have the disease and spread it.
4) the mortality rate for covid-19 is significantly higher than the flu
5) humans haven't had as much of a chance to build up immunity to covid as compared to the flu because it's new.
6) the annual total number of deaths for the flu is higher (so far, but that's without taking any mitigation efforts.
what would the death toll be for covid - if we didn't close down businesses, stop large gatherings, wear masks,
practice social distancing, etc. certainly much, much higher and maybe as high as some of the earlier models
suggested.

i'm sure there are more differences too. feel free to correct the above list if I've listed anything in error.

COVID-19 IS NOT LIKE THE FLU!!!!!!!!!! IT IS MUCH WORSE. FOR MY SAKE AND MAYBE YOUR OWN, PLEASE UNDERSTAND THIS!
EVEN TRUMP UNDERSTANDS THIS- he just wants to get reelected and sees this virus and its economic consequences as
a huge obstacle to that goal.

There is no proof that distancing and wearing mask has reduced spread. Its all hypothetical or an educated guess.

What we do know is people from NYC has terrible hygiene and living conditions. Sneezing and slobbering/snoting on people seems to be the best way for transmission. I prefer not to live in those conditions regardless.

Just take the US stats of this.....and then take out NY.......its pretty telling.

New Orleans was bad, but anyone who has ever been there knows how nasty it is.

No wonder the USA leads the world in infections and deaths and lags most countries in testing when idiots like this spread this kind of bullshit

If the flu infects 1 Billion people each season, this would infect way more since it's far more contagious and no vaccine. With the death rate being 6.5%, that's 65 Million dead/Billion as opposed to just 680k/Billion for the flu. Only reason the death toll is low is because not many have been infected due to social distancing. Why is it so difficult for these idiot hoaxers to understand this simple concept? Had we listened to them and not instituted lockdown/social distancing we'd be seeing millions dying. I guess that's what it would take for these morons to admit they were wrong.
