USC/OSU game was two weeks ago. OSU played Troy last weekend. I don't think USC played anyone, so yes it was a bye week for them.

I'm with you on Or.St. GoSooners.

I know they've looked bad on TV a couple times but they've been working on their game, especially the OL and DL. Kind of a crash course for the new starters and first year players. Nobody ever said they lacked talent but Riley and his staff need time to coach up these ** and *** players into **** and ***** players. They've had plenty of success doing this over the years which is one thing I admire about Oregon State's coaches. The way the Beavers played in their last game vs Hawaii was 1000% better than how they played several weeks ago. There has been some progress. So here we go for game 4. We'll see how they've been coming along so far.

BOL

PS... I actually got 26.5 from Bodog. Maybe they are a shitty sportsbook but unusual things they do such as this is why I maintain an account there.

Yeah...i wish I had gotten it a little ealrier. I saw the Bodog line..Sometimes I wish I had an account there. Hopefully I won't need the 1.5..Anyway it's always good to know we're on the same side in a PAC-10 game...Good luck.:toast:

Try getting money out of your account and then you'll realize why they gave you 26.5. It's impossible right now.

Ole Miss at Florida...Florida is coming off a huge conference and division win over Tennessee. And Ole Miss is coming off a disappointing loss to Vanderbilt. A game in which Ole Miss doubled Vanderblt's yardage, but had 6 turnovers and over 80 yards in penalties. Houston Nutts squad will be looking for redemption in this game. While Florida could possibly have a little bit of a letdown. Although I never soley rely on a team letting down, I still believe that the loss by Ole Miss and the win by Florida has added some value to this line..I don't know about the opinion of others from watching this Gators team, but to me the Florida offense hasn't looked like it's old prolific self this season. I'm not sure what the cause of it is, but I just feel like the trick plays and gadgets aren't making the impact like they were the last couple of seasons. Maybe the SEC defenses have caught up a little to this Utah offense, I don't know. But the 254 total yards they had last week isn't nearly as the good as what the 30-6 score showed..Bottom line is Florida was outgained by Tennessee in that game. But a couple very critical turnovers by the Vols in their red zone changed the whole complextion of it with 17 Florida points in the first quarter..And the Vols could never recover from that deficit. Plus numerous other mistakes like almost 100 yards in penalties killed Tennessee the rest of the game. They basically couldn't get out of their own way.. These kinds of mistakes will make even the best teams look bad.. Penalties are part of what contributed in USC's loss last night. And killed their drives and left them in a hole on first down.. So Florida did to Tennessee pretty much what Vanderbilt did to Ole Miss..They got outyardaged, but capitalized on mistakes. And let the other team implode.. My bet is Houston Nutt will have his Ole Miss team practicing this week on cutting down on those mistakes and they'll play a much cleaner game tomorrow. I've said here many times before that well coached teams very seldom play the same bad game twice. And I believe Ole Miss will be much sharper for this game. I still feel like this Rebels team is very underrated..This team has some players on it's squad that will be playing on Sundays. And I believe they are very capable of giving Florida a tussle in the swamp. This isn't Houston Nutt's first rodeo with Florida dating back to his Arkansas days.. And I'm sure the Ole Miss players remember the close 30-24 loss last season. Ole Miss also has better coaching and a better team this year than last with 16 returning starters...It wouldn't surprise me at all if Ole Miss gives Florida all they can handle...But even if everything goes Florida's way in the swamp, giving over 3 TD's to a team who is not a bottom dweller in the SEC anymore is asking too much...I'll take the points...I'm buying a half point and making this a Best Bet play. Taking Ole Miss (+23) over Florida ****

Pitt at Syracuse....Usually I stay far away from games like this. But I think this is a great "Bet Against" opportunity. This game jumped off the page at me when I looked at it Monday..First i just want to say that Pitt doesn't have any business being double digit favorites over anybody...Especially on the road! This is the most vanilla offense that I've ever seen in today's game. And Wannstadt makes it even more conservative when he gets a lead...I couldn't hardly bare to watch their game with Iowa..Pitt pretty much had to hold on and rely on their defense to win that game..Their offense sure didn't do it for them..They got outyardaged by Iowa 361-259. This team is barely holding on. And I believe Wanny is on his way out after this season. We're talking about a team who is supposed to finally have the players to be making a run for the Big East title. But they lose their first game to Bowling Green. And just hold on to beat Buffalo and Iowa..And now go on the road as 3 score favorites..Pitt shouldn't be favored over ANY team in the country by this many points. This is another game where I feel like we could be getting some value with the dog. The Penn State beatdown of Syracuse has given us a great line..But that was Penn State. Not Pitt..Penn State and their Spread HD offense is a far cry from the vanilla offense that Pitt is going to throw at Cuse. Before you write off Cuse here, keep this in mind: They are averaging 3.96 ypc on offense after averaging just 2.2 ypc last season. So they've almost doubled their rushing stats. And they are averaging giving up about 3.51 ypc. Also down from last season. And this was with Penn State added in. And Penn State is a monster running team with a 6.46 ypc average. So believe it or not Cuse has improved this year...And believe it or not they are the "Running Dogs" in this game. Now we're talking about a Pitt team who averages scoring only 21.67 points per game favored by almost 3 scores going on the road for the first time against a conference foe...Under Wannstadt, the most points that Pitt has been favored over another BCS team is 13 points..And that was last season..And that was against Syracuse..And Pitt didn't cover. In fact they barely escaped Syracuse 20-17. Now their asking Pitt to cover 15 points in the Dome? Syracuse is coming off of their first win of the season last week. And my bet is they will be super charged for their first conference game. In my opinion these two teams are much closer than the line indicates. And Pitt won't have enough offense to get out of their with any kind of a blowout..Plus the running dogs Syracuse have a good chance to control the clock and shorten this game...Taking Syracuse over an overrated poorly coached Pitt team...Syracuse (+15) over Pitt ***

Love the plays GS, your write-ups are great and I love how you look at games...while many people think Dr.Bob sucks, I like how he looks at games and analyzes the numbers. You also analyze the numbers and make solid plays. Lot's of luck, I'm on them all.

Colorado State at California...One of the best cappers I know Pags11 turned me on to this game..And the more I look at it the more I like it. This game has got a good angle to it. And one I can't pass up. You may recall I had a Best Bet play a couple weeks ago against this CAL team. And the angles that day playing Maryland were very much against this team, from travelling across a couple time zones east to play a morning game, to being too respected on the double digit line because of one blowout game..But now Cal is back home. They haven't played a game since the Maryland loss. And are itching to get out and redeem themselves. And the USC loss last night also had to give this team some renewed energy knowing they might now have a legit shot at a PAC-10 title. I still think this could be the second best team in the PAC-10 at this point in the season. And this is the kind of game where there is no monkey on CAL's backs, and they can just get out and play. This is usually when this team is at their best..When nobody is talking about them. And their not getting national attention.. CSU comes into this game with a 2-1 record..But this may be thew worst 2-1 team in the nation. Their wins have come against division 2 Sacramento St. A game CSU barely won 23-20...And last week they beat a displaced Houston team 28-25. A game in which Houston had a chance to tie the game with a FG, but instead chose to go for the TD and failed to make it..Houston had almost 500 yards of total offense in that game. And if it hadn't been for all of the turnovers they would have won it. Keep in mind that this Houston team has been dispaced by the hurricanes, and hasn't played a home game since August 30th. So this team has had other problems to deal with besides football. And then they were asked to go up to the altitude of Colorado and play yet another road game..So CSU had some big advantages in the game and still barely came out on top..The real CSU team I remember is the one who got ran over by Colorado, running up and down the field on them and scoring 38 points and winning by 21..What do you think this mad CAL team is going to do? CSU has only 12 starters back off of a 3-9 team..My bet is their winning is probably just about done for the year..They come back down to reality here..The PAC-10 was something like 0-4 against the MWC a couple weeks ago...I bet CAL and their fans are well aware of it, and are going to send a message in this game...I don't take these kinds of lines unless I think there is going to be an utter blowout of epic proportions..I'm pretty sure it happens here. I look for CAL to be in the 50's or maybe even the 60's in this game..Looking for a 52-17 type of game.Taking CAL (-26.5) over CSU ***

I'm still trying to get a handle on this sport as the one I have for the NFL (which I now despise) and reading your/Pags write ups these past two years has really helped me do just that.

I just want to show my gratitude for all your hard work GS.

you have to remember how bad Wannestad is Robinson is WORSE. At least Wanny can recruit. I thought Syracuse was showing some life and I backed my Orange against Penn St. Boy was that the wrong decision. What really scares me is going to be the difference in quality of the players. While Wannstad can't coach his players up, at least he has players. Syracuse has NO athletes to coach. Syracuse is basically full of high D2 players who are lucky they got a chance to play D1 football. I hope your right backing the Orange, but I just see Syracuse getting blown of both sides of the line throughout the game.

I don't doubt that Wannstadt has some good players..But he doesn't have a good team.. Do you think Bowling Green and Buffalo have anywhere near the players of Pitt? Yet Pitt has trouble beating MAC teams with much inferior athletes....It's the style of coaching that is the reason why this team will never go anywhere..Yes Robinson is also bad. But not worse. He can't recruit worth a damn. But at least he has made an attempt to change his offense by bringing in Minnesota's OC. And they have a better run game than Pitt..Don't count this stat short. Look what a much inferior Oregon State team did to USC with their run game last night..This is a team that lost to Stanford in their first game..NEVER count a good running team out. Especially when they are double digit dogs.
