Santelli asked a few questions, he wasn't there long.

When they actually asked questions about policy, the questions weren't bad. But they would stay on that issue for 30 seconds, then go somewhere else, then a different subject.

Then some of the questions were just awful.

Some of it was because 10 candidates is just a clusterfuck.

I wonder how much this debate hurt the WS ratings and vice/versa

What a dumb thing to do having a debate during the WS.

I know its not as big of a deal as it once was with TIVO but still.

As much as I enjoyed the comedy of DFS being brought up, I can't really believe CNBC would waste the American peoples time on that.

Just surreal.

the stupidity of the moderators and their questions

To be honest it wasnt a horrible question.
It gives insight on their fundamental beliefs.

Some of my favorite questions are questions that are a little off the norm.
That way you start to learn how they think off script.

But the problem with that question is the same problem with all the questions.

First person gives a response, then the 2nd person says its a dumb question then the whole thing get derailed.

Im not watching another debate unless there are 5.5 people or less.

The next debate is Nov 10th? Jesus that is 2 weeks away. Likely gonna be 10 people again. Atleast 8.

Some of these guys gotta just pack it in.

As far as the question, it was just so out of nowhere and off the wall. I don't mind it as a question at the end maybe but there was still a good 20-30 minutes left when it was asked I think. I think that was a big reason Christie freaked out because it was just so misplaced.

I will say this: Every candidate on that stage understands economics better than the community organizer and the clowns at the last Dem debate.

It is truly frightening what the Democrat party is becoming.

PF, do you think the fact that DFS being raised in a debate will raise the profile of DFS even more then it has the last few weeks?
And do you think thats a good thing or bad thing?

It looks like the Government is willing to keep pretending like DFS is not Gambling.
Jeb is about as good of mouth piece as you can get for the sentiment in DC.

If jeb is willing to pretend like its not gambling that could be a good indication that the rest of Washington DC is thinking about going the same route.

This most amusing part of this thread is Joe and Willie telling us all who is smart, who gets it, and who knows what.

The two guys that have been wrong about everything political for a decade.

Absolutely amazing.

I really have no clue. You see the reactions in the main board when any DFS issue gets brought up. We live in a time where people react on emotion rather than logic. They hear "insider trading" and it sounds pretty bad. Jeb called it unregulated daytrading, not exactly the most flattering of terms.

I think at this point whatever is going to happen is going to happen independent of Jeb Bush talking about it for a minute or two during the debate.

It sounds like most of the states just want to regulate. Obviously regulation is fine, but when you have a state like PA that wants to do the web portal thing so their licensed casinos can share the revenue, that could be a problem. Other states might see it as comp for their own gambling interests, etc. We'll see.

Just being a pessimist about gambling legislation in general, I tend to think the more the media covers it, the worse it is but I'm not really sure. A lot of variables when you got states and federal involved.

I tend to comeback to the fact online poker isn't legal, sports betting isn't legal, so why would this be?

But maybe their special interests (leagues, big media/tv) can make it happen.

Theres your answer.

Once the leagues and media got involved and invested that changed things.

If they turn a blind eye to this it will be one of the biggest proofs ever that lobbies and special interest rule this country.

Would not be shocked if the NFL and NBA gave a team to Vegas to get them to go along with it.

Its Big Casino vs Media/NFL,NBA, and MLB.

Although I dont think DFS eats into the casino business by much at all.

Why didn't the leagues do the same with sports betting?

Why is DFS okay but betting on games isn't?
