Czech Republic should be the top seed in that group according to your post. Just FYI Portsmouth drew with Arsenal in April 1-1 and Chelsea beat Arsenal three times this year.

Just so ya know ...

A UK newspaper gave their opinion on Group E.

They stated that if these teams were "League Club's", they would be ...

Italy > Arsenal

Czech Republic > Chelsea(pre-Abromovich)

United States > Portsmouth

Ghana > Ipswich Town

I'm not rying to hijack your thread I'm just giving my opinion and in addition indicating that although there is no correlation between these particular teams other than this article you speak of but If history repeats itself along the lines of this particular analagy the italians would go out.

Update on Zambrotta and Nesta ...

Test results earlier today showed that Zambrotta will miss the match against Ghana on Monday(Grosso is set to take his place).There is good news though, he's looking to play in the Azzurri's 2nd match(vs the U.S.).This game is scheduled for Sunday, June 17th. :103631605

Nesta is listed as questionable for the opening game.Should he not be fit to go,Inter's Materazzi will most likely be his replacement.

In Tuesday's training session ...

Marcello Lippi tested two systems for the Azzurri's match vs Ghana.One included Franceso Totti..the other, did not.

In the 4-3-1-2 formation,the team consisted of these players:

Toni Gilardino

Totti

Perrotta DeRossi Camoranesi

Grosso Materazzi Cannavaro Oddo

The second formation was 4-4-2 :

Toni Gilardino

Gattuso De Rossi Pirlo Camoranesi

Grosso Materazzi Cannavaro Oddo

As for today,the Coach is said to be leaning towards the 4-4-2.

Azzurri dealt yet , ANOTHER setback this morning

285298-1152337-458-238.jpg

Gennaro Gattuso's test results this morning showed a strain in his left thigh.
He is now expected to miss both matches vs Ghana and the U.S.

"I will only replace him on the field,not in the squad.Gattuso will come with us,and I hope to have him back as soon as possible." -Lippi

So, we're fielding a team without Zambrotta and Gattuso on Monday vs Ghana...Nesta will be tested once again on Saturday,to see if he can play in the opener...and Totti's fitness level is still a concern...

I thought the "scandal" was gonna' be our biggest hurtle. :icon_conf

Unbelievable!...:smoker2:

Honestly, I am not disappointed that thug is out. I much prefer De Rossi.

SAL THE ITAL said:
We enter our 1st game vs Ghana riding an 18 game unbeaten streak.The last time the Azzurri lost a game was in October of 2004.:thumbsup2:

There is a factor though, that concerns me a bit entering this matchup. It's the Officiating Crew ...

Referee : Carlos Simon

Linesmen: Aristeu Taveres
: Ednilson Corona

What do these three Officials have in common?...:icon_conf

They all come from .....

:smoking:

Yes!! We have discussed about this very strange referee ... who finish 2nd here will meet Brazil ( what a coincidence!!! :lolBIG: ) next round
... i strongly doubt O'Rey want to meet us in the next round :103631605

Did you heard about Gattuso?

He is out for two weeks at least

NATIONAL ANTHEM ( Fratelli d'Italia )

Fratelli d'Italia,
L'Italia s'è desta;
Dell'elmo di Scipio
S'è cinta la testa.
Dov'è la Vittoria?
Le porga la chioma;
Ché schiava di Roma
Iddio la creò.

Stringiamci a coorte!
Siam pronti alla morte;
Italia chiamò.

Noi siamo da secoli
Calpesti, derisi,
Perché non siam popolo,
Perché siam divisi.
Raccolgaci un'unica
Bandiera, una speme;
Di fonderci insieme
Già l'ora suonò.

Stringiamci a coorte!
Siam pronti alla morte;
Italia chiamò.

Uniamoci, amiamoci;
L'unione e l'amore
Rivelano ai popoli
Le vie del Signore.
Giuriamo far libero
Il suolo natio:
Uniti, per Dio,
Chi vincer ci può?

Stringiamci a coorte!
Siam pronti alla morte;
Italia chiamò.

Dall'Alpe a Sicilia,
Dovunque è Legnano;
Ogn'uom di Ferruccio
Ha il core e la mano;
I bimbi d'Italia
Si chiaman Balilla;
Il suon d'ogni squilla
I Vespri suonò.

Stringiamci a coorte!
Siam pronti alla morte;
Italia chiamò.

Son giunchi che piegano
Le spade vendute;
Già l'Aquila d'Austria
Le penne ha perdute.
Il sangue d'Italia
E il sangue Polacco
Bevé col Cosacco,
Ma il cor le bruciò.

Stringiamci a coorte!
Siam pronti alla morte;
Italia chiamò.

I have to think you would get the absolute worst odds if you were betting Italy to win, the opposite you might be ok though.

Concorde,

Any recommendations in Santa Margherita/Portofino/Cinque Terra area?
