I see this argument popping up again, probably because of Biden. People want to close up everything for three months and think everything will be all right and back to normal are just not realistic. Who can afford to do that? Anyone in a service industry really felt the economic pain this year, another shutdown will be the end for many more businesses. A lot of countries did the manditory mask-wearing, business shutdown etc, only to have cases pop back to peak.

When lock downs are done, it inevitably spikes again in every area that has tried strict lock downs. Look at Spain or France compared to Sweden right now.

Conservatives said from the beginning that the left was trying to lock down for a full year or longer until a vaccine is ready.

Liberals said conservatives were conspiracy theorizing on that, and that the lock downs would just be a couple of weeks.

We now know conservatives were right and liberals were either wrong or lying.

So if you're 70+ there is a very real chance of dying from a C-19 infection. Greater than 5% or 5 in 100.

This is case fatality rate. Which means that cases that are never diagnosed are obviously cases where the person survived.

So we'd have to know what percentage of people 70+ never have serious enough symptoms to get a diagnosis.

Needless to say, the actual mortality rate is obviously significantly lower than 5% for even people 70 and older, unless you're making the claim that every single fucker to get Covid gets a diagnosis.

I lived in a country with socialized medicine. It was absolute shit and the people that lived there said so too.

Routine surgerys that are necessary but not an emergency took up to a year to have performed. The hospitals were shit with no privacy because they were funded by taxpayer dollars and the list goes on and on.

What is obviously clear is as a result of the lockdowns:

1) serious vehicular accidents & deaths are way way down
2) flu deaths & serious complications have decreased tremendously
3) C-19 ill health & deaths are far less due to the lockdowns
4) likewise probably other communicable diseases (e.g. tuberculosis, HIV) have been greatly reduced by the extreme safety measures in place
5) street crimes have probably been highly reduced.
6) families have been able to spend more time together enjoying each others company while free from the slavery of that 4 letter word "work" that the vast majority hate. Giving more time for quality of life activities like sex & various entertainments.
7) abortions (child murder) are probably down.
