i'll take a spin at the chi/atl play...(if you don't mind ace),
if you look at all the teams who played the pourous lion defense, the qb's had a field day...career games literally.
then look at how those same qb's(who just were unstoppable against the lions), did in thier next game against defenses who were'nt the lions.
they all had thier worst statistical game...literally.
they got lulled..

GAME.

MY PLAYS

$2000.00 #209 Carolina (+1.5) over Tampa Bay (1 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 12)
The road team has won seven of 10 in this series outright and the Panthers have absolutely dominated this series lately, winning eight of 10 from the Bucs. Carolina is also 10-4 ATS in the last 14 meetings and is better on both sides of the ball right now. I think the Panthers have the more impressive resume and I think that with Steve Smith they have the best offensive player on either team. Tampa struggled to move the ball against Denver last week, and I don’t see them being able to keep up with Jake Delhomme and the Panthers in this one.

$2000.00 #224 Arizona (+5) over Dallas (4 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 12)
Dallas is a team that’s dealing with an awful lot of turmoil this week as head cases like T.O. and Pac Man are doing everything they can to serve as a distraction. Arizona is looking at this game as an opportunity to make a statement and the home team is 5-2 ATS in this series. Dallas is 2-8 ATS in its last 10 games and continues to be a team facing inflated odds from the books. We’ll take the points and look for the Cards to put a scare into the Boys.

$300.00 #205 Baltimore (+4.5) over Indianapolis (1 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 12)
Baltimore has played great against two of the better teams in the league (Pittsburgh, Tennessee) over the last two weeks while the Colts really should have gotten blown out in Houston. Baltimore is the much tougher team here and they should manhandle Indianapolis on both sides of the ball. The line on this game is sinking like a stone and I think that’s a great indicator that we’re getting value on the Ravens.

BEST TO ALL

ACE-ACE

Dam,
I Feel I'm going to have a terrible week. I always follow ACE-ACE and MAC, but for some reason this week my original picks are the total opposites. I have Tampa, Dallas, and Indy. DAM, I better just stick with you guys so I hope you have a good week. ACE, show me the

WHAT THE SHARPS THINK ABOUT THIS WEEKEND'S NFL GAMES
Time once again for our weekly look at what professional wagerers in Las Vegas and Reno (sharps) think about this weekend's pro football action. As always I'll take the games in rotation order for your convenience.
OAKLAND AT NEW ORLEANS: This game has mostly been sitting on New Orleans by 7 or 7.5 this week. I know some guys who really like the Saints at this number because they're getting a home team off a loss against a bad opponent. But, the old school guys like getting a TD or more betting against a bad defense. I'd have to say the sharps are split on this one. The young guns with the computers expect a blowout. And, some are respecting the "bad body clock" angle I've been writing about (though Oakland is 2-0 ATS in early kicks this year). The older guys who play almost nothing but dogs like taking points against soft defenses. They won with Minnesota on this field Monday Night, and will come back again on the Raiders. Split action. The public will probably lay -7 over the weekend.
BALTIMORE AT INDIANAPOLIS: We saw a big move right off the bat here. The sportsbooks are going to be rooting very hard for the Colts this week, which is the opposite of what they wanted last week. Indianapolis opened at -6.5 or so, which doesn't make much sense at all given how poorly they've been playing and how strong Baltimore's defense is. The sharps pounded Baltimore at +6.5, and +6, and +5.5, and +5, and +4.5! I'm seeing mostly -4 as I write this. Maybe the public will come in big on the Colts over the weekend and help balance the books. The casino's will have to risk getting middled in that case. Maybe the consultants releasing openers thought the public was going to load up on the Colts after getting a lucky cover last week. A bad misread of the market with that first line up here. Would the sharps still bet Baltimore at the new number? Much of the value has to be gone...but I can say that the Wise Guys are much more impressed with Baltimore than they are with Indy so far this season.
CINCINNAT AT NY JETS: We saw early action on both the Dog and the Under here. The Jets opened at -7, which has been bet down to -6 or -5.5 as I write this (mostly six). The total opened at 46.5 and is down to 44.5. Since Carson Palmer played last week, it's assumed he'll be healthy this week. We may also have a case here were the oddsmakers are assuming the public is going to bet on Brett Favre, and they just posted a big number out of the gate as a result. The sharps are mostly fading Favre, and they took the TD rather than wait to see if the line went up higher. Definitely sharp sentiment on the Bengals and Under here, though those options aren't being bet at the current lines.
CAROLINA AT TAMPA BAY: Tampa Bay opened -3, and is down right now to -1.5 There's strong sentiment on the Panthers obviously. And Carolina is a popular team for those "basic strategy" teasers I've been telling you about the past two seasons. Putting Carolina in a two-teamer allows you to cross both the 3 and the 7 with your six point move at this current price. The trick is finding a team to put with them! I can tell you right now that sportsbooks (even moreso offshore than in Nevada) will be rooting for a big Tampa Bay victory to spike all of those teasers. The total dropped from 37 to 36.5, which is actually a decent sized move because 37 is a key total number. You may not get the +3 that the sharps got on the dog, but you can still try out that teaser approach if you'd like. If you're seeing a 37 or better, the Under would appear to be the sharp play.
DETROIT AT MINNESOTA: The early line here was -12 for the Vikes, and it went up to -13 very quickly. Sharps tend to shy away from big favorites, so that tells you how much they hate Detroit! It wouldn't be right to say that all sharps are laying the points here. Most are leaving the game alone for now. Those who bet laid the points because they think everyone will be killing the Lions for the time being. Some of the old school guys are waiting to see if the number goes up to 14 or higher. They may take the dog on principal if it gets that high. The total has dropped from 47 to 45.5 on the assumption from the totals guys that Detroit won't be able to score on Minnesota's strong defense.
CHICAGO AT ATLANTA: Chicago opened at -1, and has been bet up to -2 as I write this. The guys I'm talking to are saying the Bears run defense is the key in their mind. Atlanta lives and dies with the run. Chicago has been very strong on defense this year. So, we do have sharp action on the favorite. Note though that it wasn't so strong that the line went up to -3 (yet anyway). Basically Bears or pass right now for the sharps rather than universal love for Chicago. Note that this game is in the teaser window too. You can take Atlanta up to +8 and cross both the 3 and the 7. Basic strategy guys already have their Carolina/Atlanta tickets written. Some will be betting the Bears as a partial hedge, or to create a shot at the middle (Chicago by 3-7 would sweep). The total has gone up from 42.5 to 43.5. That tells me it's a different set of sharps playing the total. You don't bet the Over if you're expecting one defense to rule the day.
MIAMI AT HOUSTON: Not much action here. I'm seeing more Miami money than Houston money at this point. It takes a lot to take an NFL game off of -3 these days. We may see the juice change over the weekend if that trend continues. It will be tough for sportsbooks to come down to -2.5 because that would create another great teaser option. Little interest in the total yet. Don't forget that the roof doesn't work in Houston now because of the hurricane. If there's a chance for rain there you'll want to look at the Unders.
ST. LOUIS AT WASHINGTON: The Skins opened as huge 15-point favorites. Dog players came in right away because the line was over two touchdowns. Washington is certainly good, but they haven't established yet they're a blowout team. The old school guys took the high spread right away, even though St. Louis has been really bad this year. The math guys couldn't make a case for Washington to quite the same degree they could for Minnesota at the lower line. I saw sharp action at +15 and +14. things have died now that I'm seeing +13. Maybe the public will come in on the Skins over the weekend. Little interest in the total so far.
JACKSONVILLE AT DENVER: We have one of those games where a half point means everything. Denver opened at -3, and brought in the majority of sharp money as a favorite. Sportsbooks increased the juice to compensate. Some moved to -3.5. After that move, Jacksonville money came in to drive the line back down. I expect that to be the story all weekend unless the public is very one-sided. The nature of NFL scoring is such that both of those can be offer value simultaneously...Denver -3 and Jacksonville +3.5 in the same game. Work out the percentages on your own to see why. Nothing yet on the high total of 48. I know guys are watching the weather here.
PHILADELPHIA AT SAN FRANCISCO: The total in this one fell off the map. It opened 45, and is down to 42.5. I've mentioned before that I'm more into team sides than totals as a handicapper. I'm not sure what triggered the big move. Best I can tell is the thought that Philly's defense is very good, but Donovan McNabb has slowed down from his fast start. I will say that the totals guys have been very happy with how things are going this year. Most of the big moves are working out for them. In general, the sportsbooks aren't happy about too much so far in the NFL.
DALLAS AT ARIZONA: Definitely sharp action so far on the Dog and the Over. Dallas opened at -6.5, but is down to -5 at most places as I write this. The total jumped from 48.5 to 50. The number 48 isn't quite a key number, but is more common than 49 for example. The fact that the number went UP from 48.5 tells you there was strong sentiment on the Over. At this point, the sharps are happy with their positions. You'd be a little late to the party if you followed their lead...but some value could still be in play for you considering the numbers that were crossed. The sharps don't trust Dallas at all right now as a favorite.
GREEN BAY AT SEATTLE: We've had a flip flop of favorites here, as Green Bay opened at -1, but I'm now seeing Seattle -1.5 in most places. The sharps soured on Green Bay quickly. The Packers have lost three straight, and don't look like they should be a road favorite over anyone but Detroit or the really bad teams in the eyes of the sharps. Seattle hasn't exactly been setting the world on fire. They still get respect at home though. Note that Green Bay qualifies in the basic strategy teaser window at this new line. The total has fallen from 47.5 to 46. If there's any rain in the forecast, it will come down more.
NEW ENGLAND AT SAN DIEGO: Big moves here to the Dog and Under. New England opened at +6, but is down to +4.5 or +5 as I write this. The total fell from 47 to 44. Some big totals moves this week. I know a lot of sharps who believe the market has overreacted to the change in quarterback in New England. Sure, Matt Cassel isn't as good as Tom Brady. But, he's not so bad that the team should be a big dog here, or just a field goal favorite at San Francisco. All the sharps who liked New England last week bet them out of the gate here. Many have noticed the sluggish San Diego offense the last two weeks too. The Chargers didn't do much until late at Oakland, and never did anything last week. That suggested an Under to the totals guys. I'm a bit surprised to be talking so much about Dogs and Unders to this point. That's how the sharps like to play it...but they typically wait until game day to make their moves because the public bets Favorites and Overs. There's usually a reward for waiting if you're going against the public. Looks like the sharps were battling each other to get the best numbers now rather than trusting that full value will be available on game day.
NY GIANTS AT CLEVELAND: Nobody likes Cleveland yet. Those who are looking to bet the Browns are waiting to see if the public will drive the line higher on Monday. This game opened at -7, and is currently at -7.5. Moving off the seven takes some money. So, there is serious money on the Giants at -7. The dog players will wait to see if they will see +8 or +9. It's hard to imagine the public betting on the Browns. The "Monday Night Home Dog" thing hasn't been working out so great in recent years. Note how even when sharps disagree about a game both sides find a way to get the best number for their proposition. $2500.00#214 Atlanta (+3) over Chicago (1 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 12)
The Falcons have been incredible at home this year, winning their two games at the Georgia Dome by a combined 72-35. This is a young Falcons team, coming off a big upset at Lambeau, and I think they are going to get a big boost playing in front of the home faithful after two road games. Both of Chicago’s losses have come against NFC South teams while Atlanta is 2-0 SU and ATS against the NFC North. Atlanta has covered five of seven games overall and I think that they win this game outright. They are still one of the most underrated teams in the NFL and I think this is a great opportunity to cash in on these up-and-comers.

$600.00 ‘Under’ 45.5 Detroit at Minnesota (1 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 12)
Minnesota is going to want to run the ball and control the clock against the Lions this week, and Detroit’s Tampa-2 is going to focus on not giving up the big play (unlike what New Orleans did on Monday) in the passing game. Also, Jon Kitna is likely out for the Lions and I don’t see either of Detroit’s backups being able to put up many points against one of the best defenses in the league.

$400.00 ‘Over’ 36.5 Carolina at Tampa Bay (1 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 12)
The numbers suggest that these are two of the better offenses in the league and I am looking for both clubs to get into the 20’s in this meeting. The ‘over’ is 4-0 in the last four meetings in Tampa Bay and is 8-3 in Tampa Bay’s last 11 games overall.
