Doc. did not do anything that was that egregious. Spirited comments, defensive remarks, provoking anger, a curse or two, many of us are guilty of that. Put others on a poll who are/were provocative and they would receive the same fate, specifically they would be banned. I never called anyone a name on this forum. I just posted my views in my own style. Put a poll up to ban me and the results would also be predicable. I would be banned cause I am sure I provoke many with my views. Try it, you will see how unfair this spectacle is. I just do not get it. Doc. should not be banned. He should be given an award for making this site popular. My remarks and comments are with all due respect to this site. This action on Doc. needs to stop right now. It is wrong and bad and only ridicules a good man. This is not fair.

Teazeman,

Thanks for the kind words. I try to read all perspectives at this forum.

Im not sure if you lurked in the political forum late last year and a few months ago, but when you speak of ones voice being silenced, does that also include another person hijacking threads?

I would say it does, and Doc is not alone, but he is the main culprit of this tactic.

Hundreds of times, somebody would post a thread about any particular Democrat or leftist, and within minutes, spam bullshit about Bush, Cheney, Abramoff, Gannon would fill the thread.

That, my friend should have been long ago stopped. It took numerous reporting of posts and Wilheim to hire a moderator for this forum (since Rob Funk) didnt have time to do such policing of that type of garbage.

So, I propose when you voice your displeasure about posters being silenced, look at a larger timeframe and not the past month or two.

***

CW, I doubt many (possibly none) here would vote to ban you.

It's now after 7:00 pm are the polls officially closed or will you allow this piling on of a fellow poster continue?

Mabye we should have a poll on whether the rx should fire wilheim as head mod. This poll is b.s. and the whole premise is b.s. I know one thing...xpanda would never survive a poll like asking whehter to keep her as mod. The righties think she is left, the lefties think she is right, and the doc supporters know she has picked on him for the same things others do without intervention.

Yes i lurked not only in the political forum but at the entire site for almost one year before signing up, i was never too anxious to jump in the fray as a new poster that's why i kind of kept quiet. I remember distinctly your calling out not only doc but others as well, i think the mods and their lack of intervention deserve to bear some of the responsibilty for the deteriation in the political forum as well, agreed?

I'm new here. I didn't know you could be banned for being unpopular. Will the holding of unpopular opinions also then be a cause for banning? How often will these popularity contests take place? Is this a new practice started by Wilhelm? Does management know of this new policy?

What the fuck is wrong with you? Doc isn't being banned because he's unpopular, jackass.

If your views were less conservative you could see more objectively and realize that popularity is what the vote will reflect.....jackass.

Why are you pouring water on someone who is drowning? With all due respect, show a little kindness. Doc. is not a bad person in my opinion, can't you take his political views. Come on, help him out. You can handle his stuff. I think you can. Just an opinion. Help please.

If he is to be punished for breaking rules, then that should be decided by the enforcers of the rules. That would be the mods. By the way, you should be more polite because you could be the subject of the next popularity contest, and I might vote to ban you because of your personal attack. Or maybe just because I don't like your political views. Get the point....jackass.

Teazeman, I agree.

David, the moderators had previously decided to ban Doc Mercer after numerous warnings, post review, etc.

If you havent been reading this site for the past several months, you probably should know more about this situation.

Regardless, welcome to the forum.

But now the mods want us to do their job for them? Do you think they have the approval of management to delegate their authority to us?

teazeman, thanks for your response, and like you I have lurked here for some time. Dawoofdaddy, thank you as well, but I still feel that the members should not vote on the punishment of other members. That sets a disastrous precedent, and, regardless the merits of Docs case, could lead to a poster being banned based primarily on popularity for whatever reason, including political views.

David: Rx Management requested this poll. They simply want to see what a majority of posters think, and will weigh those views accordingly. (For and against.)

That status quo was doc would be permanently banned, but the management at RX overturned Wil's decision because they thought there was a strong support for doc in the forum. This poll proves that theory wrong, so wil wants the management to rethink their decision.

As mostly a long-time lurker, I at first found Doc's act to be something of a novelty. While I agreed with him about .01% of the time, some of his posts were laugh-out-loud funny. Over time, however, his stuff has gotten stale, not to mention PREDICTABLE. Don't really wanna see anyone banned, but when one person gums up the works for others that present salient, readable views (right or left), well...

Today was the tipping point. I KNEW coming in here this afternoon that Doc would have Zarqawi's death skewed in a negative fashion, just another example of this dishonest administration. Enough is enough, man...

There are lefties in here that piss me off just as much as Doc, maybe moreso, but they almost always present fairly cogent arguments. I don't begrudge Doc for his beliefs, but keep a collar on it already! :smoker2:

A poster becomes a problem when you recieve half a dozen emails from other posters complaining about that poster. This forum has been a very troublesome situation for The Rx. for at least a year and only shows signs of getting worse. This is a no win situation no matter what I do. Keep Doc and lose 5 or 6 solid long time posters. Ban Doc and most likely lose a different 5 or 6 solid long time posters.

Very much a Catch 22 situation for me as head moderator and The Rx. in general. I very much would like to see this forum become a real political debate instead of the flame fest it has evolved into. Virtually every thread is some sort of shot at a poster with differenmt political views. The focus is not on issues but on personal feuds within the forum itself. This one is an idiot, that one is a jackass, the other is a moron; ad nauseam..

Bottom line this poll will decide what direction The Rx. will take regarding Doc Mercer. I am going to wait another 36 hours and see where the poll stands. Yes the poll itself has been sanctioned by Rx. management..

Then management approved the poll? If management did approve this, it sets a bad precedent, regardless of ones view of Doc. By the way, I have seen more disturbing and tasteless behavior here.
