I've won a hell of a lot more than I've lost.

Nobody ever loses around here.
I wonder how the casinos stay in business.

In all seriousness...I think I play a pretty good game of 21. With my normal spread I try to hover around a 1% advantage, but being human I know that I make errors so it is probably more like .5% - even with the advantage I went through a stretch last year where I lost 5 trips in a row to the tune of almost 10k. The swings in this game are brutal, but I kept plugging and have gotten most of it back over the last 2 trips. If you take a chart with you and play based on it you will be as close to an even game as you can be. Drink and eat all you can and you can actually be "ahead" of the house if you count in your comps - which I always do. You can't beat a "free" vacation if you ask me...which is basically what you can expect to have it you follow BS perfectly.

I've lost my share many times over, but over the yrs whether in a barracks, casino, online whatever, I'd say I'm +. Of course @ my age time does play tricks on us. But, even if I were in a neg. sit $$ wise, the delight I got from the "chase" was well worth it. Same w/the Ladies. Plus the great # of friends I've met over the "green" are priceless. Then there are the pr--ks, but whose counting those (BP, FZ etc). Good fortune to all, wish they were ALL like OMT & CoachLT pure class.<><>

It's ok to deviate from basic strategy if you want. It's your money, and we are not robots. Playing strictly by the book is really boring, just understand that each time you do it your odds are slightly reduced in the long run.

We've all seen idiots playing completely backwards and win, anything can and will happen short term. When I go to vegas, I may deviate a half dozen times in 3 days, a couple are distracted mistakes, and the rest usually out of frustration. If you deviate alot however, then you really dont understand basic strategy, and fall into the category that I call "the thinkers" , they live and die with each card, wondering what would have and could have happened.

i would have never thought about doubleing on a 12 before i went to dealer school and i havent played since then.

Just ribbing you man. Enjoy your new job. I have a few dealers that I really enjoy playing with and a couple that I will avoid like the plague. Be one of the good guys!

everyone seems to enjoy playing with me, outside of the fact id estimate ive taken in much more money than i have given out. only hard part for me so far is dealing with people that blow thru 400-500 in an hr and they way they act makes you think they didnt have it to blow

Sad thing is they probably didn't have it to blow. To me that would be the only hard part of dealing - knowing you have someone in front of you with a problem and being "forced" to deal them cards.

Do you believe that if everyone played 100% perfect strategy that they would have to change the rules on blackjack?

Kidman get used to it. I have become immune to the degenerates. I am almost robotic at this stage of my dealing career. I wont even offer advice anymore because when it works "it was supposed to work"... when it doesnt work people get pissed. Dealing has really made me realize 99 percent of people are idiots. The amount of scumbags I deal with on a daily basis is disgusting. Somehow our toke rate is really good (better then any philly or AC casino), so it keeps me coming back.

I have been asking this for years. You have seen casinos add in little factors giving the house a bigger edge. Things like 6-5 BJ, hitting the soft 17, etc.

Too bad you're such dim witted douche. The statements I made were meant as a general rule. W/the advent of multiple shoes & many more "house" rules there ARE exceptions to the way I play. As far as dbl a S hand vs 3-6, I'd never change if I still got to a casino, F the WofO. as for my "pressing" of course my last hand doesn't predict my next, my style whether you like it or not is to do it, @ Craps or BJ. I ALWAYS dbl 11 vs A regardless, over the yrs I've won a hell of a lot more than I've lost. I'm too old to argue, you're one of those guys who storm off if 3rd base makes an "error" in your mind. Go bug someone who gives a shit!

The point is, you posted (in caps no less) how important it is to play basic strategy "PROPERLY." And then most of the advice you gave was wrong.

The fact that you'd make a statement like "F(uck) the Wiz of odds" shows that actually you are the "dim witted douche."

"you're one of those guys who storm off if 3rd base makes an "error" in your mind." Actually, completely wrong. As I stated very clearly
in this thread (and other people that actually know the game in here stated), in the vast majority of cases, other players have absolutely no effect on the game.

nice, our rate for my first check is $17.41 an hr +base pay, which is the lower end for the past few weeks, normally 18-21ish. but still not bad for having 6 casinos in a 30 minute radius, 5 within 10 mins

that is very solid. i have heard some horror stories about toke rate being $12-14 in a lot of AC casinos now.
