well no one told me silva was going to pussyfoot the ball all day - damn citeh players can't trust 'em to do anything for you. The only good part is 1-0 italy might force croatia to play a bit more open and 1 goal could lead to 3 but not the way they are playing in that first half...shockingly bad. 2-2 would be even funnier now...

FT 2-2 +3300 - gotta be worth 10 canadian dollars

have i mentioned how much i love Mario Barotelli....haha...losing day but that goal saved me a bit. I have Germany to win it all already but if you are still looking for a winner - it is over. No one is beating Germany - Spain is shite to be honest ... that style will get crushed by germany imo...croatia had some nice chances but a German side won't miss. France and England worked last round...i like France a lot tomorrow but probably -0.75 line. Wonder Rooney can play again which should help but the Ukraine are no pushovers. -0.25 for england might be an option. Reading team news and checking my octopus but england/france on the handicap early leans

Silva needs to go -- Jesus deserves to start

well taking england and france worked last round and no reason to think it won't this time around.

Tuesday June 19th
England v France
England -0.25 1.24 to win 1 unit
the return of rooney has to be a huge positive...england has looked good but lacking the final guy to score. Rooney can do that ... and hopefully Walcott can finally get a start and show his manager (and the WC idiot) that he is the key to england's success. A draw is good enough for them but it would be dangerous to play that type of game - late goals are occuring often enough. In any case - a win with some Sweden help would see them avoid Spain in the next round. Rooney in the real world would replace Ashley Young but probably Caroll will be sacrificed - perhaps an all Man U front 3 with an Arsenal player providing the run isn't such a bad idea. I don't like posting minutes before the match because i know not everyone is sitting waiting for the lineups but perhaps it is smart to wait. Managers can really mess up lineups based on gut decisions so maybe he will have Ashley Young upfront with rooney just behind him and walcott on the bench...in that case the draw would be more likely. Ukraine provided the host nation magic vs the worst team in the group...after that good 1/2 half vs france but no real threat to score. I think magic is gone and players are tired, hurt or named Voronin. Draw worries me because if france is up 3-0 england could settle but as i said that wouldn't be wise and i think the return of Rooney will be positive...1/2 wager back on a draw...seems 1-0 England is the popular choice and i believe it.

France v Sweden
France -131 - 2.62 to win 2 units
back to the 2 unit game...i just don't get the line movement here...it was -163ish last night and i was all set to 1 unit the -0.75. Woke up to -126 and now -131. We saw both Ireland and Netherlands both fight to get a point so i expect the same fight from Sweden but desire can only take you so far. France has looked very good and that is despite Benzema lack of goal touch. Certainly he is due for a massive game and perhaps a hatrick tonight? France matches up pretty good vs Italy and although Spain hasn't been special avoiding them has to be a priority. Nasri really looks good (like those 2 weeks two years ago that City figuring made him worth millions) and Menez can provide the goals if Benzema doesnt. I also hope to see Yann M'Vila finally play (he would look good in an Arsenal jersey) as he can bring something - certainly well rested. Sweden's main guy Zlatan is well known to take games off mentally....the idea that he will want to win for his country is laughable. He is already sitting on a beach or replaying his AC Milan goals in his head. I think it will be an awful day for him esp if France can get one early. Odds and public betting scare a bit but tail of two teams imo and a reason for france to win...2-0 3-0

both england and france know a draw is good enough so clearly tough task to get them to commit to the full win but England and France have appeared from the start to be the class of Group D and both wanting to win to avoid Spain - i think we will see early goals and victories.

I bet england to win with a clean sheet...did that with Spain yesterday at +230.
I understand your one bad goal away from a loss, but they way these soccer matches go your always one bad goal from not covering lol.

yeah - i use to bet clean sheets but i get far too nervous...even if ukraine have the ball 3 feet from centre line i'd start to panic...by the end of game if i hit clean sheet i am exhausted so i don't bet em. Gl to you and madpicker and anyone else england/france.

walcott on the bench - not suprising as he will be needed later in the tournament and can always come in second half when the defense is tired and do what he did vs sweden. Perhaps England can win without subbing him and then prepare for italy/spain with him in. I'm watching the french game though because Ashley Young and Scott Parker will just drive me mad.

M'Vila starts for France - should be nice to watch the soon to be Arsenal midfielder show Nasri how to do it proper. That lineup doesn't look like it wants to draw and face Spain....pretty much what i consider their best lineup and this Sweden game could do two things - send a message to Italy and help Nasri - Ribery - M'villa sort out how to play in the midfield together (even though Nasri is up front). Menez should replace Arfa is france needs a goal in the second half and push nasri back.

I found yesterday a bit boring so hopefully better games today .. gl

hopefully some of you EURO bettors will stay with us once league play starts up again....usually when a few of us agree on here we can do quite well...and EPL is easy take Man U, Man City, Arsenal and Chelsea to win and Liverpool to not win on the road....clean up..haha.

Group Stage Final Record:
11-9-3 +1.98 units

not the record i wanted but i'll take it ....

Thursday June 21st
Czech v Portugal
Portugal Team Total over -1.5 -105 - 1.05 to win 1 unit
I really like the way Portugal is approaching games at least after they tried to draw Germany 0-0. But they scored in the 24th min vs Denmark and 28th vs the Netherlands. Seems a lot of games are 0-0 into the 35-40th min but with Portugal they really do try and score early. And netting 2 vs Netherlands and 3 vs Denmark I think we might see a similar story to the Russia v Czech game. Fast wingers and creative players seem to do Czech's in that first match. Portugal similar in style I guess and hopefully C Rinaldo, after scoring twice vs the Netherlands, will be confident and skilled enough to get one today. (he does miss some shockers at times). Greece and Poland may have made Czech's look good but with Portgual it should be a whole different story...Portugal runs and guns like the Russians and won't be sitting back like the Greeks. Of all the teams left I think the Czech's are the most outclassed nation left...even below the Greeks. I didn't believe in the Portuguese at the start and certainly can't see them beating Spain or France but really should win here. Straight win might be better but at -134 less appealing as i think we will see an early Portugal lead and then goal(s) on the counter with C Rinaldo finally proving his international worth...

2-0 or 3-0 so no bet on the over/under. If you don't have TT i'll take Portugal maybe even the -0.75 to get the even odds GL

my local doesn't offer a TT for Portugal :( My best line is ML -165.

I'm going to ride with the portugal win with a clean sheet that has been so good to me....much smaller though cause I don't want to be greedy.

gl too patsfan..hopefully 2-0 3-0 for both our sakes...if it is 1-0 i might try and sneak a cover of no more goals and pray the Czechs don't tie it and it ends 1-1...that would be a bit unlucky esp if portugal scores early enough. Line finally moved up to -150 from -138 at bet365...hopefully a good sign.

they said the field in warsaw had been poor...i hadn't noticed it until today. I feared a boring 0-0 game because that is how portugal does it sometimes...c rinaldo seemed to be pissed after the first pass didn't come to him so he is done for the day. Maybe a first 10-15 min goal might help but this bet seems doomed. I miss the old EPL run and gun footy....this is dull. It's like i'm watching an American football game

congrats patsfan on another win by nil bet

not sure if germany to win to nil will work again...seems likely but both teams to score must be due...no bet for me today. I have germany to win the whole thing at +300 (or close to that) and certainly should win today. I can't help but feel Greece will shut 'er down and keep everyone back. Perhaps they are just tall enough and physical enough not to let germany play their game. My guess is 1-1 and extra with germany scored 1-2 in the extra time....just a guess though so no bet.

Considered Greek total goals over 0.5 at +121 just to bet something but nice day to take off and probably won't be watching it anywhoo so good luck today and hopefully a nice bet or 5 tomorrow

I do not have Germany winning it all. Back is too weak in my opinion. I love Hummels and I can't see them getting scored on from a corner....but I think they are susceptible against speed. As the Greece counter attack proved that...Boateng is wack. Today I have France advancing along with Italy tomorrow. I hear you hate Italy....sorry to hear that cuz I think they are reallll dealll. Funny thing about Spain...people want to think this is the same spain team that won it before? BOTH of those times we saw a striker who was in form. Villa and Torres both were in form when they won the Euros and the World Cup....this year, that will not happen. France to advance +230 and pk em game. If that loses somehow.... fade Spain again. Best of luck to you Dial

L know nothing about the sport. But, what I saw of France in the last match was a bunch of uninspired pussies. That's the impression I got anyway. Educate me.

We're on the same page....I like France to give Spain a lot of trouble today, and I love Italy +206 tomorrow.

mob - right now i don't see anyone touching germany myself. I can easily change my mind watching france and spain but going by the group stage and the match vs Greece, Germany looked mighty strong. But Spain/France could have been taking it slowly in the group stage. For me i would never back italy to win outright...the pick isn't too bad but if any team plays for extra it is them...esp if they score early they'll sit back for ever...and that usually costs them. I think 0-0 tomorrow and extras but i haven't checked team news. As for France - i can definitely see them win. Who knows if they put the effort vs Sweden because it made sense to lose. By losing you do have to play Spain but it might be better to play Spain now then in a final...and if you can win you'd avoid germany til the final (probably). But who knows...spain has to rely on Torres and David miss by 10 feet Silva and for me i wouldn't trust them to win a match right now. Even Xavi/Inesta have looked like ordinary midfielders.

I took over 2 simply because both sides are offensive minded and look to push guys forward..both sides can play the counter attack game even if they would prefer the build up perfect pass game. Neither defense has been too stellar - yes Spain only gave up 1 but Ireland really should have scored and Croatia had plenty of chances. I think Benzema playing against his club's nation will lift him up a bit and perhaps finally score...in the end i am leaning towards France to get the win but i could see 1-1 and extras. I think pre-match any bet looks good which is a bit of a cop out but it is so hard to judge how good either side is right now.

2-1 France? works for me

Saturday June 23rd
Spain v France
over 2 goals -112 -1.12 to win 1 unit
if over 2 isn't available i'd be tempted to back france +0.5.
