I wonder what would happen if two strangers were playing Madden and one told the other he was feeling suicidal then the kid actually did it after the kid said "sure why not?" Would the stranger that told him to do it while playing Madden on the game system go to jail for involuntary manslaughter?

I'm going to say the case gets dismissed and nothing happens to her criminally. I believe the family then sues her civilly and gets rewarded monetary damages they never see.

Enfuego, this girl.had hundreds of texts with this boy, how many about the suicide situation I don't k ow, but I'm assuming a ton more than a friend playing Maddens with another friend, one states his depression & feeling suicidal, the other says do it, & he does.

This girl seems like she was playing a game in her mind to see how much power she had by continuously telling this kid to do it.

Who knows exactly what else she may have told this kid in all those other texts.......like, your worthless, no one likes you, etc......it will come out to what she exactly said.

As for your question about the Madden game amongst 2 friends.......there isn't any evidence of o e friend saying to the next to do it.......

In this case, its all on text.......& to the judge, its enough to try her.

She should walk...............I don't see any crime here............In this case being a jerk just means being a jerk.....Not enough for a crime.

He knows it isn't the same.

I have to believe that Enfuego is just trolling at this point with some of his comments. Using a video game or losing money at poker as examples that are compatible to what happened is just ludicrous. As long as you guys keep responding and pointing out the obvious to these ridiculous scenarios, he's going to keep posting them.

Not using the game as an exact comparison. Using the act of encouraging someone to do something over text. You really don't want to or have any interest in seeing my side at all so why even respond any longer?

You aren't saying anything we haven't already said in here. She's an idiot but is being an idiot criminal? We shall see.

In a perfect world kids could 1. deal with it on their own 2. go to their parents 3. Have other family members they could lean on 4. Go to school guidance counselor.
But we all know that most often their friends are the ones they go to. They see it as the ones who understand them best.

In this case his friend was a sociopath, he got screwed. With a little help this kid could have been fine!!

He was 18. At what age do you consider someone to be an adult?

He was obviously fucked up to listen to her but to start convicting people for being assholes is taking anti-bullying too far.

That's my entire point. We have changed in our nation from taking personal responsibility for our own actions to always blaming someone else for our own actions. There's not always someone else to blame.

He didn't act like an adult is my point. Mentally he was not emotionally mature enough to listen to himself rather than her.

And why in hell should she not be punished for her actions?? Talk about personal responsibility.

At what age is someone an adult? That's asking for a broad answer........18 allows you to go kill when signing up in the military, after training of course........they trust you with guns & bullets but not alcohol, need to be 21.....our laws are so messed up when it comes to determining the age of someone being an adult.

IMO, adulthood starts around 23 years old I'm my mind from what I've experienced & seen in society.

18 year olds are so vulnerable & naive to so much, & there's a huge difference in life experience of an 18 year old & 23.

Question: how would any of you feel if you were the parent of this girl? Truly........you can't slap the shit out of her cause its child abuse......the fact that she tried to cover up her actions, shows she's not remorseful & a sociopath. IMO, her patents need to have her checked out in a psychiatric ward.......but I have a feeling the judge will find her guilty & give her probation with conditions of seeing a psychiatrist.

What law did she break? This is not a loaded question, I really don't know.

"Ms. Carter is alleged to have strongly influenced his decision to take his own life, encouraged him to commit suicide and guided him in his engagement of activities which led to his death"
according to the DA's office

I don't know what law that falls under but she is being charged as a youthful offender on a charge of Involuntary Manslaughter.

I saw that. Still unclear what law this breaks.

What if I peer pressure a friend into doing heroin? I show him where to get it and how to shoot up. Then he overdoses. You could say I "guided him in his engagement of activities which led him to his death." Am I legally culpable for his death?

I don't know but thats one hell of an example. I wouldn't want to be that guy.
Someone like that would be charged with something I would imagine.

Would he? Obviously the heroin part is illegal.

There are a million examples one could conjure up though. What about cigarettes? What if there is an impressionable young lad and I tell him he must smoke to hang out with me and my crew. Years later he dies of lung cancer. Did I guide him in the engagement of activities which led to his death? Yeah, probably.

No one disagrees that this girl is a sociopath and what she did was despicable and morally reprehensible and all that. I haven't heard anyone disagree that she is largely responsible for this.

But legally it's a slippery slope when you start talking about holding her legally liable for text messages she sent or things she said.

If he was or mentally challenged in some form then it would be a little easier case to make.
