Just because they don't sound right to you does not make them inaccurate!! Coaching edge is hard to quantify! Dan had Shula who one could argue was past his prime! Elway had Reeves during his prime (won coach of the year award during his tenure in Denver) and Shanahan during his prime! Shanahan is a greater offensive mind than Shula! Shula's teams in a 28 team league or greater finished in the top ten offense only 3 times without Marino! Shanahan's team's without Elway finished in the top ten offense 8 times! 6 with Denver 2 with Washington. Better offensive mind! Anything else!?!?

Some coaches win a coach of the year award and are out of the league 2 years later.....comparing Shula to Reeves or Shannahan is a emberrasing argument..pretty well documented that Reeves wasn't even communicating with Elway for the latter part of his stay there....nothing you can say or make up is going to convince me to your position..I saw them both play ..so it's obvious to me...but your entitled to your own opinion..

No Reeves would go on to win coach of the year again in 98 with Atlanta! Shula hadn't won squat since 72. And no it's not embarrassing to compare Shannahan's offense to Shula. His offense minus Elway finished in the top ten 8 times to Shula's minus Marino 3 in a 28 team league! What's embarrassing is saying Elway had more pro-bowlers WRONG, Elway had more hall of famers WRONG, Elway had more all-pros WRONG, Elway had a worst defense WRONG! That's embarrassing!

Just all your opinion. .history is not on your side..btw Reeves sucked in Denver..he was ran out of town for wasting Elway best years.. Shanahan got exposed in Washington..fact is Elway carried both of those clowns..You're acting like this was a coaching clinic by Reeves & Shanahan when it was anything but that..take Marino if you want..I will take Elway any day of the week.. food for thought. .maybe Shula had the game pass him by because his QB sucked in the biggest moments..He seemed to be ok up till an overrated QB showed up from Pitt.

LOL it's not my opinion that Elway had more pro-bowlers it's fact! It's not my opinion that Elway had more all-pro it's fact! It's not my opinion Elway had more hall of famers it's fact. It's not my opinion Elway had 8 1000 yard rushing seasons and Marino one it's fact! Shanahan's teams finished in the top ten offense eight times without Elway that's fact not opinion. "Elway carried both of those clowns that's opinion. Learn the difference!

Here's a fact the 3 aforementioned teams I believe are the 86,87,89 teams. All three teams finished in the top ten in defense and one season they lead the league in fewest points allowed!! Hardly no business getting there. Marino had the unfortunate luck of meeting one of the greatest teams ever in the Super Bowl! The 84 Niners was a bullshit pass interference that wouldn't even be called today from going 19-0!!!

58th minute of clip on Eric Wright total BS!! Anything else?

I think the Brady Manon debate has been over. The debate is between Brady and Montana. Montana had better players but Brady played for the best coach of all time. Montana gets the edge for me because he played in an Era where quarter backs weren't protected like they are today. If Brady wins this year I think he passes Montana. Manning gets a chance to play spoiler.

Team sport! Elway had more offensive pro-bowlers, all-pros, hall of famers than Marino! 8 1000 yard rushing seasons to 1 and a much better defense than Marino, I.E a way better team! That's why the BRONCOS won a couple of Super Bowls! Marino had way better individual stats with much less talent around him I.E a way better individual player!

Jimmy Johnson went into retirement because he couldn't get enough out of Marino... 2 HOF coaches in Miami went out the wrong way

OK now you're stating opinions that's fine, but as for the choker label Marino had the 7th best single season playoff performance in history of any quarterback attempting over 60 passes in a playoff run!!! Other than Montana twice, Aikman, Young, Flacco, and Brees, no one had a better SINGLE playoff season passing than Marino. Flacco and Brees are from a different era so you really can't compare them to Marino, which leaves just Montana, Young and Aikman. Aikman had probably the top two most stacked offenses ever (along with the late 90's Broncos!!) you can't really compare. So that just leaves Montana, Young, and Marino! I guess when you complete over 68% of your passes and throw 5 touchdowns and no pics, it's your fault that your team loses. Gotta love the logic behind that! And if you look at this list all the Qbs won Super Bowls with such an amazing post season, except for Marino. I'll repeat it again when you complete over 68% of your passes and throw 5 touchdowns and no pics is it still your fault that your team loses!

Look , it's fine if you want to back Marino..not saying he wasn't good...I'm backing another horse here..no reason to keep knocking heads here..you make some good pts..not going to keep beating this drum..BTW , I didn't even like Denver..never have..this is all a judgment on what I have seen and believe...and you're doing the same thing..we can agree to disagree on this...

That's fine your opinion. I had to chime in when you said teams no business being there and Marino overrated. I'm a numbers guy. I still think Young the best ever! Most times leading league in passing most rushing td's ever by a Qb second most rushing yards ever by a QB (when retired and when QB's played contact football) Didn't need a good o-line, because he could run, didn't need Rice won passing title without him!

Now that's something we can agree on..I think most people would think I'm crazy if I included Young in my top 5..but I am very high on Young...good we closed on a good note

Red Eye,

you can't possibly think Marino is not in the top 10. What a stupid argument. I get it, it is kinda hard to debate the top 5 but really; not counting Marino in the top 10? This stuff can get simple very quick. Dolphins were contenders with him and not contenders without him. And I am not talking for 3 years, I am talking 15.
