NBA, players tentatively reach labor deal
December 14, 2016

MIAMI (AP) The NBA and its players have agreed in principle on a new collective bargaining agreement, one that still needs to be ratified by players and owners in the coming weeks.

The league announced the tentative agreement Wednesday night, one day before the sides faced a deadline for opting out of the current deal. It ensures the two sides will avoid the kind of ugly labor dispute that led to a lockout and missed games in 2011.

That deadline for opting out has now been extended to Jan. 13, with the NBA saying that's ''in order to give both sides enough time to review the terms of the agreement and vote to ratify.''

With both sides signing off, getting players and owners to pass the deal would likely be no more than a formality.

Three people briefed on the terms said the deal extends for seven seasons, with an opt-out possible after six. The people spoke on condition of anonymity because neither side was releasing exact details.

If the deal is ratified, the start of the season would be moved up a week, preseason games would be capped at six and there's a hope that one of the most dreaded elements of the schedule - the four-game-in-five-day stretches - would be eliminated.

Other details of the new proposed CBA include increases in values of rookie-scale contracts, minimum salaries and exceptions, with a 45 percent increase in minimum salaries across the board in the first year of the new agreement. The rookie deals will be proportionate to the salary cap, either rising or falling as that does. The average player salary is expected to hit $8.5 million next season and rise to $10 million by 2020-21 under the new terms.

Two-way contracts between the NBA and the D-League will be in play for the first time, which would figure to enhance player development. And contracts would be able to be extended for five, or in some cases, six years.

Neither NBA Commissioner Adam Silver nor NBPA executive director Michele Roberts spoke publicly after the tentative deal was announced. Some players reacted quickly on social media, including Golden State's Draymond Green - who said ''one day we will get it right.... maybe.''

Phoenix's Jared Dudley said he wasn't sure what Green meant. ''I really don't know anything about the deal,'' Dudley tweeted .

News broke of the tentative agreement just as Wednesday's games were starting. In San Antonio, before the Spurs played Boston, Celtics coach Brad Stevens reacted cautiously.

''I don't have any reaction until I know things are completed,'' Stevens said. ''Once that is a thing and we're made of it aware of it, I'll talk about it. I think the NBA is in a great place. I think we're all hopeful that something like that would happen.''

Heat coach Erik Spoelstra was briefed on the agreement after a victory over the Pacers on Wednesday night and said he felt a sense of relief.

''We're all very fortunate to be in this profession,'' Spoelstra said.

Talks have gone on for weeks, and unlike those surrounding the most recent deal between the league and its players, these were mostly amicable. Most of the major issues - such as keeping the split of basketball-related income the same as it is in the existing deal - were agreed upon weeks ago.

Included in the more than 400-page document is a new program that addresses domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse. Players and their families will be provided with education, training and counseling and players facing allegations will be subject to a new investigation, discipline and appeals process.

Another key element was the league agreeing to help fund programs that aid retired players with education and medical expenses.

Still, some issues needed to get ironed-out, including ones related to licensing and marketing. The sides considered extending the opt-out deadline even before coming to the tentative agreement, and now only the voting remains before labor peace is ensured for up to seven more years.

NBA officials and players expressed optimism throughout the process, pointing to the league's skyrocketing revenue and salaries - thanks to a massive new television deal - and rising TV ratings.

From the outset, these talks seemed much different than the unfriendly discourse that went on five years ago, when the league and its players were so far apart that the 2011-12 season wound up getting shortened from 82 games per team to 66. The players were locked out for 161 games, resulting in a shortened season and plenty of frustration.

''I think they will get to a decision that's good for everybody,'' Miami guard Goran Dragic said in recent weeks.

Another issue previously known to be addressed in this proposed CBA was a deal where the league would help fund programs to help retired players with education and medical expenses.

Inside the Paint - Thursday
December 15, 2016

The second quarter of the NBA regular season is underway and similar to last year, the contenders have lived up to the expectations from the oddsmakers. Even though the league has had its fair share of repeat matchups in the NBA Finals, we’ve never seen the two teams meet in the finals for three consecutive years.

We’ve got a lot of season left, but taking a stab on Golden State-Cleveland III seems like a sound investment and you can get 5/7 odds (Bet $100 to win $70) at Sportsbook.ag.

Golden State has gone 22-4 straight up this season and some pundits might believe the club has underachieved, especially since it acquired All-Star Kevin Durant in the offseason.

The Warriors were 25-1 at this point last season without KD and that included a 24-0 start.

Has Golden State regressed or has the rest of the league improved?

For our purposes, the Warriors are 12-13-1 against the spread this year compared to a 17-8-1 ATS record during the same span last season. I put a lot of stock in point-spread production when evaluating a team and while those records might have you believing Golden State is down, it’s really not the case.

Offensively, Golden State is averaging 117.8 point per game, up from 113.3 PPG last season. The club is shooting 49.5 percent from the field, also up (48%) from last season. The defensive scoring has gone up from 104 PPG to 106.1 PPG but did you know Golden State is ranked third in field goal shooting defense (43.3%) behind a pair of clubs (Jazz and Grizzlies) that play at a super slow pace?

The reason the Warriors aren’t covering as much is because of the oddsmakers, who have done a tremendous job catering to Golden State’s high expectations.

In the first 26 games last season, the Warriors were listed as double-digit favorites 11 times. This season, that number is up to 19 and the club is just below .500 at the betting counter, which is impressive to say the least.

The Golden State-Over parlay combination is easily the most popular wager in the NBA but that brace has only connected six times this season.

Heading into Thursday’s home matchup versus the Knicks, the Warriors have failed to cover the number in four straight and the ‘under’ has cashed in all four games, which makes you believe the books have cleaned up lately.

Golden State opened -14 versus New York (14-11 SU, 15-10 ATS) with a total of 224. Normally I tend to lean to fading heavy favorites when they’re playing their first home game after a long road trip due to the travel factor. However, the matchup always comes first and the large number is justified in this spot.

The Knicks are currently the No. 3 seed in the East, which might be a surprise for many. I touched on New York’s success in Tuesday’s ITP column, which is attributed to their record vs. teams below .500 (9-2).

That formula will get the Knicks into the playoffs but an early exit is very likely knowing they’re just 4-9 against teams with winning records. Golden State has won four straight against New York and every win has come by double digits. The Warriors have gone 3-1 ATS during this span and the lone non-cover came in a 14-point win as 15 ½-point road favorites. The ‘under’ has gone 3-1 during this span.

Knicks point guard Derrick Rose (back) is ‘questionable’ for Thursday.

TNT will provide national coverage at 10:35 p.m. ET.

Along with the late-night tip, we have four other games on tap and every one of the matchups has very strong head-to-head angles to follow or fade.

Indiana at New Orleans: The Pacers have absolutely dominated this series recently, taking 11 straight (9-2 ATS) meetings against the Pelicans. Indiana lost 95-89 at Miami last night as its struggled on no rest this season, going 1-4 both SU and ATS with the defense getting diced up in these spots (112 PPG). While those angles could have you split on Indiana, make a note that New Orleans (-3) is just 1-5 both SU and ATS as a home favorite this season.

Chicago at Milwaukee: This will be the first game of a quick home-and-home set between the pair with the second meeting set at the United Center on Friday. The Bulls won and covered three of their last four encounters against the Bucks but the two games played at the Bradley Center were decided by four and five points. Unlike New Orleans, Milwaukee (-2 ½) has been a great investment this season as a home favorite, going 6-2 both SU and ATS. Make a note that the ‘over’ has gone 7-1 in those games.

San Antonio at Phoenix: No overnight number was posted but Spurs will likely be favored unless ‘Pop’ decides to rest everybody since they played last night. San Antonio held off Boston 108-101 at home on Wednesday and the fatigue factor hasn’t come into play yet this season with the club going 5-1 SU and 4-2 ATS on zero days rest. The lone loss took place at home while all five of the road wins were by seven or more points. The Suns nipped the Knicks 113-111 in overtime on Tuesday and bettors should be aware that Phoenix is 1-6 off a win this season, five losses by double digits. San Antonio swept all four games against Phoenix last season and it covered three of them. The Spurs won posted 118 and 117 in two trips to the desert and the ‘over’ cashed easily in those games.

Portland at Denver: Portland captured a solid 114-95 home win over Oklahoma City on Tuesday, which snapped a four-game slide. I didn’t expect that effort and if they can answer the bell again on Thursday, I’d be equally impressed considering this matchup will be their fourth in five nights. Confidence should be high for the Trail Blazers, who have won 13 of their last 14 games against the Nuggets and that includes a 112-105 win this season as 7 ½-point home favorites. Make a note that the last four games played at the Pepsi Center have been decided by six points or less. Denver has been installed as a small favorite (-1 ½) and is just 2-3 both SU and ATS in that role this season.

MILWAUKEE (AP) Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 30 points and Jabari Parker added 28 to lead the Milwaukee Bucks to a 108-97 victory over the Chicago Bulls on Thursday night.

Milwaukee led the entire game and held a 24-point advantage early in the fourth quarter but had to hold on to snap a three-game losing streak, its longest of the season.

Antetokounmpo has totaled 88 points and 35 rebounds in his last three games, and Parker has reached at least 27 points in four of his past five.

Chicago lost for the fifth time in seven games and dropped its third straight on the road despite 21 points from Jimmy Butler and 20 from Dwyane Wade. The Bulls also got 19 points from Taj Gibson in the opener of a home-and-home between the teams on back-to-back nights.

PELICANS 102, PACERS 95

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Anthony Davis had 35 points, 16 rebounds and five blocked shots, rookie Buddy Hield scored a career-high 21 and New Orleans defeated Indiana.

Davis highlighted a dynamic performance with two 3-pointers and a couple of driving dunks. He was at his best during a pivotal 15-0 Pelicans run inside the final 5 minutes, when he converted a three-point play on a dunk, hit a 3, added four free throws and blocked two shots.

Jrue Holiday, who started the surge with a driving layup, had 16 points.

Myles Turner scored 26 on 11-of-14 shooting for Indiana, but the Pacers missed eight straight shots during a 4-minute scoring drought late in the fourth quarter.

SPURS 107, SUNS 92

PHOENIX (AP) - Kawhi Leonard had 18 points and 10 rebounds, and Pau Gasol added 18 points and nine boards to lead San Antonio over Phoenix.

The Spurs (21-5) withstood the Suns' attempt to push the tempo after San Antonio had played Wednesday. San Antonio held Phoenix to 40 percent shooting and improved to an NBA-best 14-1 on the road.

After the Suns grabbed a 77-76 lead with 10:08 to play, the Spurs responded with an 11-0 run to take control for good.

Devin Booker's 17 points led the Suns, who missed a chance to win consecutive games for only the second time this season.

NUGGETS 132, TRAIL BLAZERS 120

DENVER (AP) - Danilo Gallinari scored 20 of his 27 points in the first half and Denver led big early before holding on late to beat Portland.

Gary Harris scored 18 in his return to the Nuggets' lineup. It was Denver's second win in the last 15 games against the Trail Blazers, who got 40 points and 10 assists from Damian Lillard.

CJ McCollum scored 23 for Portland, which has lost five of six.

The Nuggets snapped a three-game skid at Pepsi Center, where they are 4-7 this season.

Friday’s six-pack

— Seahawks 24, Rams 3– Seattle clinches the NFC West title.

— Rams were first NFL team with a logo on their helmet; it was designed by Fred Gehrke, who played for the Rams and whose grandson is Christian Yelich, the Marlins’ left-fielder.

— Former Villanova/NBA star Kerry Kittles is now an assistant coach at Princeton.

— Monmouth 82, Memphis 79— Statement win for the Hawks.

— 5-9 Marcus Keene has been a dynamo for Central Michigan this season; when he played at Youngstown State, he was listed at 5-11. Apparently the move to CMU cost him a couple of inches.

— Michael Floyd gets a DUI, is cut by Arizona, gets signed by the 1st-place Patriots. Players on cruddy teams will be driving drunk all weekend, trying to get cut so they can hook up with good teams.

Friday’s List of 13: Nobody asked me, but……..

13) RIP Craig Sager; the TNT sideline reporter passed away Thursday at age 65, after a courageous battle with leukemia. Known for his colorful wardrobe, Sager inspired us with his toughness as he would commute from chemo treatments to NBA playoff games last spring, then go back for chemo treatments the next day.

“Time is something that cannot be bought, it cannot be wagered with God, and it is not in endless supply, time is simply how we live our lives.” RIP sir.

12) Derek Dooley is the Cowboys’ WR coach; he was fired as Tennessee’s football coach four years ago. This month he got the last of his payments from Tennessee for having coached there. Four years of checks without stepping foot in Knoxville; not bad.

11) Jordy Nelson has 17 red zone receptions (plays inside opponents’ 20-yard line), the most of anyone in the NFL.

10) Tom Brady’s career record against Denver is 6-9, the only NFL team he is under.500 against.

9) Our thoughts and prayers are with baseball great Rod Carew, who received both a new heart and a new kidney Thursday. What a hitter Carew was, a career .328 batter.

8) Chicago Bulls are the only NBA team this season that has scored more points on the foul line than they have on the 3-point arc.

7) Ole Miss signed a new offensive coordinator from I-AA Sam Houston State, a team that ran the Air Raid offense. Ole Miss HC Hugh Freeze was once a high school coach, so hiring a guy from a I-AA program is no big deal.

6) Sean Woods “resigned” as basketball coach at Morehead State, which probably means they gave him some money so he would go away and they wouldn’t have to fire him. One parent claimed Woods head-butted his son, one of the Morehead players, which obviously is not good.

5) NFL salary cap is expected to go up around $12M next year, so next time Richard Sherman whines about Thursday night games, maybe he should say whether or not he would be willing to take less of a salary if the NFL eliminated Thursday games. Maybe he would, maybe not.

4) 20 of 80 teams playing in bowl games had a 6-6 or worse record, part of the reason ESPN is having a harder time finding title sponsors for these games that featured such mediocre teams.

3) SEC Network is showing lot of basketball this month, but by God, except for Kentucky, does anyone in the SEC go to any of these games? Games at Alabama-Tennessee-Miss State-LSU, they seemed more like funerals than games on a college campus. After New Year’s, when conference games start, things will pick up but these December games have had practice-like atmospheres.

2) If you care about such things, Golden State Warriors are 4-0 as a road favorite when laying 7 or less points, 3-8 when laying 8+ points.

1) Given what happened earlier today, I’m not sure how any NBA player can simply take a day off now to “rest”. Live your life, use the gifts God gave you to entertain the public. Ron Boone played in 1,041 consecutive ABA/NBA games and his team didn’t travel on a chartered plane. Life is short, we need to do what we can, while we can.

Friday's Tip Sheet
December 16, 2016

Home teams took care of business on Thursday night by winning four of five games in the NBA, while the Pelicans and Nuggets both won and covered as home favorites. The Spurs cruised past the Suns as eight-point road favorites, 107-92 to improve to 21-5 overall and 14-1 on the road. The Warriors returned from their long road trip and beat the undermanned Knicks, 103-90, but failed to cash as 17 ½-point favorites.

Game of the Night – Bucks at Bulls (-4 ½, 206) – 8:00 PM EST

These two Central division rivals meet for the second time in as many days after Milwaukee held off Chicago last night, 108-97 to snap a three-game losing streak. The Bucks jumped out to a 19-point halftime lead while owning as large as a 27-point advantage before Chicago cut the deficit to eight points with eight minutes remaining. Giannis Antetokounmpo led Milwaukee with 30 points and 14 rebounds, while Jabari Parker added 28 points for the Bucks, who improved to 9-6 at home.

Milwaukee has struggled with no rest this season by compiling an 0-4 SU/ATS record in this situation, as Jason Kidd’s squad has been limited to 83 points or fewer in three of those defeats. Chicago hasn’t fared much better on the second of a back-to-back by going 2-3 SU/ATS, while the Bulls are playing at home with no rest for the first time this season.

Chicago has dropped five of its past seven games since knocking off Cleveland two weeks ago, as the Bulls have posted a 1-6 ATS mark in this stretch. Fred Hoiberg’s team has failed to cash in its last four opportunities as a home favorite, but the Bulls beat the Bucks twice at the United Center last season with both victories coming by double-digits.

All that Jazz

Following an up and down first month of the season, Utah has rebounded back nicely by winning nine of its last 11 games. The Jazz sit atop the Northwest division with a 16-10 record following a 109-89 blowout of the Thunder on Wednesday to cash as 7 ½-point favorites. Utah is getting back to full health after forward Derrick Favors returned to the lineup on Wednesday following a 13-game absence due to a knee injury.

The Jazz go for their eighth home win in 10 tries tonight against a Mavericks’ squad that owns a dreadful 6-19 record. Dallas has lost 11 of 12 road contests this season, as the Mavs’ offense has scored 91 points or less in seven consecutive away games. The Mavs are making their second trip to Salt Lake City this season as Dallas lost at Utah on November 2 as 3 ½-point underdogs, 97-81. Tonight, the Jazz are listed as 12-point home favorites at Sportsbook.ag, as Dallas owns a 2-4 ATS record as a double-digit underdog.

Revenge of the Hawks

The last time Atlanta traveled north of the border, the Hawks were destroyed by the Raptors, 128-84 in early December as 8 ½-point underdogs. The Hawks are 7 ½-point ‘dogs tonight in their return to Air Canada Center as Atlanta has lost 11 of its past 14 games since a 9-2 start. The Raptors remain in first place of the Atlantic division at 18-7, including a 10-4 record at home. Toronto is the hottest ATS team currently in the league at 11-1 ATS the last 12 games, including a 7-0 ATS mark as a favorite of seven points or more in this stretch.

Shooting for 20

The Clippers continue their Sunshine State tour tonight after holding off the Magic on Wednesday, 113-108 to improve to 19-7. Los Angeles travels south to Miami tonight to face a Heat squad that is coming off back-to-back wins over the Wizards and Pacers. The Clippers are riding a 6-2 mark to the OVER the last eight games, while busting the 113-point mark six times in this stretch. Los Angeles has slumped from an ATS perspective recently by failing to cash in four of the past five games, but the Clippers won and covered in both meetings last season with the Heat.

Without Walker

Hornets’ leading scorer Kemba Walker will miss his first game of the season tonight at Boston to tend to a personal matter. The Celtics are expected to have their leading scorer back this evening as Isaiah Thomas will return following a four-game absence with a groin injury. Since beating Orlando on December 7, the Celtics have lost three straight games, including Wednesday’s setback at San Antonio.

Charlotte searches for its first road win on its current five-game trip after losing at Cleveland, Indiana, and Washington, while falling at home to Boston in late October, 104-98. The Hornets have won two of the last three visits to TD Garden, including a 114-100 triumph in Boston last season.

Head-to-head stats

-- The Wizards captured three of four meetings from the Pistons last season as the two teams meet tonight in Washington. The Pistons were limited to 95 points or less in the three losses, while Washington is 4-0 in the past four home meetings with Detroit.

-- Orlando swept the four-game set from Brooklyn last season, including the Magic dropping 139 points on the Nets in their final matchup. Three of the four games finished UNDER the total, as the Nets were limited to 93 points or fewer three times.

-- Memphis has dominated Sacramento over the years by winning nine of the last 10 meetings since November 2013, including a three-game sweep last season. The Grizzlies won both home matchups last season as 3 ½-point favorites, winning by four and six points.

-- Houston and New Orleans meet for the first time this season at Toyota Center as the Rockets went 3-1 last season against the Pelicans. In both meetings in Houston, each game finished UNDER the total as tonight’s total is listed at 220.

-- The Lakers and 76ers hook up in Philadelphia as the home team won each matchup last season. Los Angeles has won three of the past four meetings in Philadelphia, as the Lakers look to snap an 0-8 SU/ATS stretch the last eight games overall.

Saturday’s six-pack

NFL trends for Week 15 games

— Baltimore is 1-5-1 in last seven games vs NFC teams.

— Panthers are 14-6 in last 20 games as a road dog.

— Texans are 8-1-1 vs spread in last ten divisional games.

— Vikings covered nine of last ten as a home favorite.

— New England covered nine of its last 12 games.

— Redskins are 13-4 vs spread in their last 17 games.

Saturday’s List of 13: Random thoughts on a damn cold day

13) NBA has a problem on their hands; teams are routinely sitting stars when they play back/back games, and fans who are paying serious money to watch these games aren’t happy. I’m not talking about players who are legitimately injured, I’m talking about guys being given nights off to “rest”. Rest from what?

Seems like most teams try to rest their stars on the road, so their fans don’t get screwed out of seeing the hometown heroes play, but what about when the Cavaliers or Warriors or Rockets go on the road?

People pay a LOT OF MONEY to see Lebron play or Steph Curry or James Harden play and if they don’t play, thats bad for future business. Bad for current business, too.

“I never thought this would happen in our sport.” Allen Iverson said that about players resting during Friday night’s Lakers-Philly broadcast.

12) Gregg Popovich is the man most responsible for implementing this practice, but the media won’t call him on it because he’s won a lot and he’s a grumpy human on a good day.

But I remember walking into the Mandalay Bay sportsbook just before Christmas 2012 and there was a kerfuffle because the Spurs were on TNT that night and Parker/Duncan/Ginobili weren’t playing.

Spurs won anyway that night and now that practice has spread all over the league. Guys who played 2-3 games a day in their teen/AAU years can’t play a game one night, get on a private plane and fly to another city to play again the next night, its too much for them.

I sound like the old guy telling kids to get off his lawn but I’m right; modern NBA players make a bleeping fortune and they sit out games when they’re not hurt and it sucks.

11) I didn’t even mention people like myself who pay $200 for the Full Court package on TV; I want to watch ball, if a star sits out, I’ll just put another game on, so it isn’t as big a deal as if you go buy game tickets, then travel to the arena for that one game.

But when the average salary in the NBA is set to jump to $9M (AVERAGE!!!!) pretty soon, you’d think guys would suck it up and actually play in all the games, so people who drove 300 miles and use their savings to let their kid see Lebron or Dwyane Wade play wouldn’t go home disappointed.

10) There is a big mess up in Minnesota; 10 Golden Gopher football players were suspended for their bowl game, after an investigation into an alleged sexual assault at an off-campus apartment in September was re-opened. That opened a huge can of worms.

As a result of the investigation being re-opened, the rest of the Gophers are boycotting football activities, which puts their Holiday Bowl game with Washington State in jeopardy.

There is the potential for a lot of collateral damage here; bowls generally benefit charities, so that would be bad, Washington State would be negatively impacted, the people who work at Qualcomm Park and at ESPN would lose work.

There is the chance Minnesota could drop out of the bowl and be replaced by another team, but plans have been made and it would be cumbersome for another team to re-gather and begin bowl prep. Curious to see how this one plays out.

9) Elsewhere in Minnesota, Adrian Peterson will play this week against the Colts, coming back a little earlier than expected from his knee surgery.

8) This from Mr Bill Deacon on the Interweb:

“…..At the age of 52, Bill Wyman, Sir Mick (Jagger)’s former bandmate, married an 18-year-old called Mandy Smith. A few years later, Wyman’s grown-up son from a previous marriage married Mandy’s mother.

Which meant that Wyman’s mother-in-law was also his daughter-in-law.”

7) Louisville suspended its offensive coordinator as a result of the Wake Forest scandal, where a disgruntled former coach leaked gameplay info to Demon Deacon opponents.

I’ll say this, whether I’m right or wrong who knows, but it is how I feel: if a friend of yours does this and contacts you with gameplay info, no one on this planet is turning his friend in. You may ask him if anything is wrong, you may take the info and toss it away, but who would rat out their friend? It is unrealistic to think that would happen. A “friend” would not do that.

6) Austin Wiley, a top-20 basketball prospect in the class of 2017, has enrolled at Auburn and will be immediately eligible; this means the kid gave up his senior year of high school to play college hoop right now. Decisions like this are tough; you’re giving up a piece of your normal childhood, but for what?

Chances are he is a lot younger than his new teammates; from a social standpoint, is it a positive? He has to leave home; hopefully this turns out to be a good decision for the player, and is not a reaction to two Auburn players being suspended earlier this week after they got busted by the cops with weed.

5) Good news: Rod Carew is expected to make a full recovery from his heart/kidney transplants that took place Thursday night into Friday- whole thing took 13 hours. Medicine is an amazing thing.

4) Former NBA player Darius Miles is 35 years old; he made $62M in his 11-year playing career, which ended seven years ago. Unfortunately, Miles has declared for bankruptcy; this week his sports memorabilia was auctioned off near St Louis. You make $62M in 11 years, you shouldn’t be broke seven years later. Guys need to learn how to handle their money.

A guy like Shaquille O’Neal has been brilliant with his money; he owns close to 100 fast-food places and some car washes, plus she still banks a fortune each year doing commercials. Junior Bridgman owns 70 or 80 Wendy’s, but most athletes squander their money and that is a tragedy.

3) North Carolina is 8-4 vs Kentucky when they’ve played, with both teams in the top ten.

2) We will never see anything like this, but would love to hear a President’s candid thoughts (any President) after he leaves office.

— Was it what he thought it would be like?
— Did the time fly by?
— Did he enjoy it at all?
— Did he miss being able to drive his own car?
— Would he do it all over again, if he could?
— What advice would he give to future Presidents?

1) Nothing brings out hostility in people like getting stuck in traffic jams at Christmastime, when everyone is in a hurry to do the same thing; where I live, traffic jams are uncommon, but there was one today around 1:45 in the afternoon and people were salty about it. Horns blaring, near-accidents, people cutting off other cars, great fun.

Guy in lane next to me in a red Mercedes banged his horn so hard it looked like he might’ve hurt his hand. Why? Because the car in front of him let someone cut in front of them from a parking lot. Hey buddy, you drive a Mercedes, you’re probably rich. Chill. Merry Christmas!!!
