LEADING OFF: Greinke vs. Dodgers; Harper faces Cubs again
June 12, 2016

A look at what's happening all around the major leagues Monday:

REMEMBER ME?

Zack Greinke (8-3, 3.84 ERA) pitches against the Dodgers for the first time since leaving them last offseason to sign a $206.5 million, six-year contract with Arizona. The right-hander has won five straight starts and has not allowed a run in his last two. He is coming off a three-hit shutout against Tampa Bay. Mike Bolsinger (1-3, 5.75) goes for Los Angeles.

WALK THIS WAY

Will manager Joe Maddon and the Chicago Cubs give Nationals slugger Bryce Harper anything to hit when the NL's top two teams open a three-game series in Washington? The Cubs swept four games from the Nationals last month in Chicago and walked Harper 13 times during that series. Max Scherzer (7-4, 3.57 ERA) pitches for Washington against Kyle Hendricks (4-5, 2.90), who has permitted no more than two runs in four consecutive starts.

THUMBS UP?

Mike Trout plans to attempt to play when the struggling Angels open a series against Minnesota, one of two AL teams with a worse record than them. The star outfielder grimaced in pain when he was hit in the right thumb by a pitch from Cleveland reliever Tommy Hunter on Sunday and left an 8-3 loss to the Indians. X-rays revealed no broken bones, only a bruise for the 2014 AL MVP. ''Feels all right now,'' Trout said after the game. ''You get hit in the hand or get hit in the finger, it's a scary thing.''

FEEL BETTER, SKIP

Mets manager Terry Collins was staying overnight in a Wisconsin hospital after falling ill Sunday and missing New York's series finale at Milwaukee. Assistant general manager John Ricco said there wasn't a high level of concern about Collins' condition, adding that Collins could be released Monday, when the Mets have an off day. Bench coach Dick Scott filled in as manager Sunday, and Collins watched his team's 5-3 loss from the hospital. ''He was probably a bit agitated. But, other than that, he was feeling fine,'' Ricco said.

HERE THEY COME

The first-place Cleveland Indians make their initial visit of the season to Kansas City, their final stop on a 10-game road trip. Cleveland (35-27) has won nine of 12 in June, keeping the AL Central lead it grabbed over the Royals during the last series between the teams. Carlos Carrasco (2-1, 3.48 ERA) pitches for the Indians, who have won six of seven against Kansas City this year. Edinson Volquez (5-6, 4.25) gets the ball for the Royals, who have won two in a row following an eight-game losing streak.

TAKE 2

James Shields makes his second start for the Chicago White Sox when they host Detroit. Acquired in a June 4 trade with San Diego, the right-hander lasted only two-plus innings in an 11-4 loss to Washington in his White Sox debut on Wednesday. Shields (2-8, 5.06 ERA) is 7-6 with a 4.10 ERA in 18 career starts against the Tigers.

Maddon intrigued by pitchers in HR Derby
June 12, 2016

ATLANTA (AP) Cubs manager Joe Maddon is intrigued about having pitchers, including Chicago ace Jake Arrieta, compete in the All-Star Home Run Derby.

Giants ace Madison Bumgarner has said he would like to participate in the July 11 event at San Diego. Following his 8-2 win over the Atlanta Braves on Saturday night, Arrieta said he would want to match home-run power with Bumgarner.

''If he's in it, I want to be in it,'' Arrieta said after having two hits in the win.

Arrieta said swinging for the fences in the All-Star spotlight ''would probably be the most adrenalin I would ever have.''

Maddon said Sunday he would not be worried about Arrieta getting hurt but stopped short of endorsing the idea on behalf of the team. ''That's above my pay grade, right there,'' he said.

Still, Maddon became more enthused about the idea as he mentioned Zack Greinke, Clayton Kershaw, Jacob deGrom and Bartolo Colon as other possible NL pitchers who could compete.

''I think it would be interesting,'' Maddon said. ''It might even be more interesting than the regulars.''

Maddon said a home-run competition for pitchers would have to be ''a toned-down version'' with fewer swings.

''Well, he's strong, man,'' said Maddon of Arrieta. ''Real strong. Bumgarner has got a great swing, though. I watched. Jake is good but Bumgarner is really loose and free and easy with his approach.''

St. Louis pitcher Adam Wainwright used his Twitter account on Sunday to state his interest in joining the fun - if there is an opportunity.

''Well, if Madbum and (at)JArrieta34 want in on this (hash)homerunderby...I might as well throw my name in the hat!'' Wainwright tweeted.

Maddon said pitchers would have no problem hitting homers off batting-practice pitches.

''I happened to see some video of Bumgarner. It was pretty impressive,'' he said. ''He could be like an absolute regular pinch hitter and he could be actually be a DH in the American League, I think. He's good. He really is. He's that good.''

Bumgarner has hit two homers this season. He hit five last season and has 13 in his big league career.

Arrieta has one homer this year after hitting two in 2015.

''I said I was going to hit five this year, so I've got a ways to go,'' Arrieta said.

Cubs, Nats clash in D.C.
June 13, 2016

CHICAGO CUBS (43-18) at WASHINGTON NATIONALS (39-24)

First pitch: Monday, 7:05 p.m. ET
Sportsbook.ag Line: Chicago +115, Washington -125, Total: 7.0

The Nationals will be looking to win their fourth straight game when they host the Cubs on Monday.

The Cubs are coming off a 13-2 victory over the Braves in the final game of a three-game set on Sunday. The Chicago offense is firing on all cylinders, as it has now scored eight or more runs in three of the past four games.

The Cubs have racked up at least 13 runs in those three contests and will be hoping to find a way to defeat this Nationals team on Monday.

Washington, meanwhile, has been extremely hot as well. The Nationals have won six of their past seven games and recently swept the Phillies. They have also been clicking on offense scoring eight or more runs in five of their past seven contests.

These teams have already met four times this season and Chicago won all of those games. The Cubs also happen to be 4-3 against the Nationals in Washington over the past three seasons.

One trend that favors Chicago in this game is that the team is 27-13 against the money line on the road when the total is seven or less over the past two seasons.

The Cubs are, however, a miserable 4-12 against the money line after two straight wins by four runs or more over the past three seasons.

The starters in this game are set to be RHP Kyle Hendricks (4-5, 2.90 ERA, 57 K) for Chicago and RHP Max Scherzer (7-4, 3.57 ERA, 107 K) for Washington. Outside of OF Kyle Schwarber (Knee), no big name players will be missing in either lineup in this one.

The Cubs will be looking to slow down the red-hot Nationals on Monday and Kyle Hendricks will be the guy hoping to do so. He has been very good for Chicago this season and has allowed just six earned runs over his past four starts. Hendricks pitched 27.1 innings in those games and it’d be big for Chicago if he can work deep into this one.

The last time he faced the Nationals, Hendricks allowed no earned runs in six innings of work. He struck out four batters in that game and allowed just two hits. With the way this team is hitting, another performance like that would likely mean the Cubs emerge victorious on Monday.

One guy that will be looking forward to this matchup with Scherzer is 2B Ben Zobrist (.324, 8 HR, 38 RBI). Zobrist has had some success against the Nationals’ ace in his career, going 5-for-22 with three homers and six RBI.

OF Jason Heyward (.240, 4 HR, 22 RBI) could also be in for a good game. He is 4-for-8 with a double against Scherzer in his career and also happens to be hitting well coming into this one. He is 6-for-9 with a homer over the past two contests and should carry his momentum into this one.

The Nationals will be hoping to keep up their impressive play on Monday and they’ll be happy to have Max Scherzer on the mound for this one. The righty has been very impressive his past two times out, allowing just two earned runs in his last 15.0 innings of work. Scherzer struck out 17 batters in those games and walked just three.

He’ll be hoping to continue to miss bats in this one, but he did struggle the last time he faced the Cubs. That start was on May 6 and he allowed seven earned runs in just five innings of work that game. The big issue was that he gave up four homers and he will need to make sure he keeps the ball down on Monday.

The guys that will be counted on to provide at the plate will be OF Bryce Harper (.258, 13 HR, 38 RBI) and 2B Daniel Murphy (.369, 11 HR, 42 RBI). Harper has seen his average go from .242 to .258 over the past 10 games, but he has not shown his power lately. He hasn’t homered since May 18 and the Nationals could use his power. It’d only help the team continue to win games.

Murphy, meanwhile, has seen his average fall from .394 to .369 over the past 10 games. He was, however, hitting almost too well at the beginning of the year and it makes it hard to sustain. He should be able to produce on Monday, as it’s unlikely the Cubs will be able to keep him off the bases too often.

AL Value Starters
June 13, 2016

Most of the elite starting pitchers reside in the National League as only three of MLB’s top 17 leaders in FIP (Fielding Independent Pitching) are AL starters at this point in the 2016 season. Even so, it still costs a premium to back well established AL starters such as Corey Kluber, Chris Sale, Justin Verlander, among others.

Here are some names that won’t offer the same chance of a dominant outing but can often be found with much more reasonable pricing and could be worth a look in many future matchups.

Matt Shoemaker (Los Angeles Angels):
Pitching for the struggling Angels will keep Matt Shoemaker in the underdog role in many matchups but the 29-year old right-hander has pitched much better than his 3-7 record indicates. Shoemaker has been on a particularly strong run since mid-May, actually posting some of the best numbers in the AL in the past month. Shoemaker has pitched at least seven innings in five consecutive starts while posting 48 strikeouts in that span and delivering four quality starts. He owns a 5:1 strikeout-to-walk ratio on the season and his FIP is more than a run lower than his ERA. Opportunities in late June against Oakland and Houston could be favorable for Shoemaker even with an erratic offense providing support behind him.

C.C. Sabathia (New York Yankees): Many felt C.C. Sabathia’s career might be over when he stepped away from the team late last season but after a mediocre April in 2016 Sabathia has been on a roll in recent weeks and starting to look like the All Star starter of past seasons. His 2.28 ERA is a bit lower than will be sustainable but Sabathia has not allowed more than three runs in any of his 10 starts this season. His strikeout rate isn’t close to his best seasons and he is allowing frequent walks but he has allowed just two home runs in nearly 60 innings, no small feat for a Yankees pitcher. Sabathia has delivered great recent outings against formidable offensive teams including the Blue Jays, Orioles, and Tigers and he has a strong bullpen to help him pull out wins even with a limited offense for New York.

Collin McHugh (Houston Astros): With a 5-5 record and a 5.22 ERA McHugh is among the many Astros that has disappointed this season but his strikeout rate continues to climb back up in recent starts and strong outings may be ahead for the curveball artist that has been a bit streaky the past two seasons. McHugh has posted 37 strikeouts over his last five starts and while he has had few dominant outings he has gone nine straight starts without allowing more than four runs. His numbers have been hurt by pitching in some tough venues with recent road starts at Boston, Arizona, and Texas and his control has been excellent with one or zero walks allowed in nine of his 13 starts this season. The Astros may be on the verge of making a run to climb back into the postseason race and McHugh could offer some value in the coming weeks with his marginal conventional numbers.

Sean Manaea (Oakland Athletics): Young starters with potential are frequently overvalued when they get off to hot starts and AL starters like Michael Fulmer, Matt Andriese, and Danny Duffy are starting to get a bit overvalued. From a value perspective the rocky first three starts Sean Manaea are a great benefit as his conventional numbers still look pretty rough despite clearly turning a corner on the mound. The 24-year old rookie allowed 16 runs in his first 13 innings of work but in five starts since his numbers have improved dramatically. His strikeout numbers are climbing and he has allowed just 30 hits in his last five starts spanning nearly 33 innings. Take away one brutal start at Fenway Park vs. the league’s best offense and his numbers look much more reasonable and while Oakland doesn’t look like a playoff contender, they have a similar record to division foes Houston and Los Angeles despite being valued like one of the worst teams in the AL. Pitching at the Coliseum should also allow for some favorable situations for the young left-hander.

Colby Lewis (Texas Rangers): The Rangers have the best record in the American League and supporting Colby Lewis won’t cost the premium that backing Cole Hamels, Yu Darvish, or even Martin Perez will. Lewis owns a FIP that is more than a run higher than his ERA but his numbers have been improving since the first month of the season and the bottom line is that he is now 21-7 in his last 28 decisions since May of last season. His 3.45 FIP is the 12th best in the AL over the last month and given how well the Rangers are playing Lewis will be worth a look in future matchups as the 36-year old continues to provide solid starts behind a team that has been dominant at home and shown improvement in the bullpen. Texas has had a knack for winning close games this season and Lewis could continue a charmed late career run.

Trevor Bauer (Cleveland Indians): The rotation for the Indians features high end talent but backing Corey Kluber or Danny Salazar will be expensive even with some erratic results for those strikeout artists. Bauer isn’t as dazzling but he has allowed three or fewer runs in eight of his nine starts since moving into the rotation in late April. Bauer is still producing a decent strikeout rate and he has for the most part kept the ball in the ballpark with only six home runs allowed in over 68 innings of work. Bauer is getting a much greater rate of ground balls than he did the past two seasons and while his strikeout numbers are a bit less impressive than were projected early in his career, he has also lowered his walk rate and he has become a more reliable and consistent starter on a first place team.

Ike Davis and Yankees finalize contract
June 13, 2016

NEW YORK (AP) Ike Davis and the New York Yankees have finalized a one-year contract, giving the team more options after putting four first basemen on the disabled list.

Davis gets paid at the rate of a $1.5 million salary while in the major leagues and at the rate of a $120,000 salary while in the minors, according to the deal reached Monday. With 112 days remaining in the regular season, his prorated major league salary is $918,033.

Davis hit .268 with four home runs and 25 RBIs for Triple-A Round Rock, then was released Sunday.

The 29-year-old played for Oakland last season, hitting .229 with three home runs and 20 RBIs. He had 32 homers for the New York Mets in 2012.

Chris Parmelee was the latest Yankees first baseman to go on the DL, joining Mark Teixeira, Dustin Ackley and Greg Bird. Rob Refsnyder has been starting at first after moving over from second base. Backup catcher Austin Romine also can play first.

New York designated right-hander Layne Somsen for assignment to open a spot for Davis on the 40-man roster and cleared a spot on the 25-man roster by optioning right-hander Chad Green to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre after Sunday's game.

Bautista returns to Jays lineup as DH
June 13, 2016

TORONTO (AP) Blue Jays outfielder Jose Bautista is back in the lineup at designated hitter for Monday's game against Philadelphia after missing the previous three because of a sore right thigh.

Bautista left in the sixth inning against Baltimore on Thursday after reaching base in his first four plate appearances. A six-time All Star, he is hitting .234 with 12 homers and 40 RBIs.

Edwin Encarnacion, who homered three times in six plate appearances on Friday and Saturday, is not in the lineup Monday.

Also Monday, the Blue Jays selected the contract left-hander Scott Diamond from Triple-A Buffalo and optioned ambidextrous reliever Pat Venditte to Triple-A.

Diamond was 4-6 with a 3.16 in 12 starts at Triple-A. The Canadian pitched for Minnesota from 2011-13.

Franklin Morales (shoulder) was moved to the 60-day DL to make room for Diamond on the 40-man roster.

MLB betting cheat sheet: Red-hot Redbirds

The Cards have won five in a row overall and their +74 run differential is fourth best in all of baseball.

Power Sports breaks down all the best MLB betting notes and odds for this week's series in our MLB betting cheat sheet, including the suddenly red-hot St. Louis Cardinals.

Who’s Hot?

My bi-weekly focus on the hottest teams in baseball now turns to the St. Louis Cardinals, who just got done finishing off a very impressive three-game sweep of the Pirates (in Pittsburgh) on Sunday.

The Cards have won five in a row overall and their +74 run differential is fourth best in all of baseball. We won’t be seeing them until Tuesday when they welcome the Houston Astros to Busch Stadium for an interleague series. Remember that these teams used to be division rivals.

Those last few seasons in the N.L. Central saw the Astros near their lowest point and things never seemed to go well against the Redbirds. In fact, Houston lost 13 of the last 15 head to head meetings.

Looking for Revenge

Two different series that get underway Monday will see one of the teams looking to avenge a prior four-game sweep.

One of them is a matchup of the National League’s marquee teams, the Cubs and Nationals. Last month at Wrigley Field, Chicago took all four games and is now 7-1 its last eight games vs. Washington. It will be interesting to see how things shape up in the Beltway where the Nats have actually been slightly less effective in terms of runs scored vs. allowed even after this weekend’s sweep of the sorry Phillies. The Cubs, meanwhile, are outscoring opponents by a full 3.0 rpg as the road team this year. But the good news for Washington is they won’t have to face either Jake Arrieta or Jon Lester in this series.

The other team seeking revenge starting Monday is the Royals, who were beaten four straight times in Cleveland last weekend. KC is just 1-6 vs. the Tribe in 2016. Their run differential continues to be poor (-21), indicating they probably don’t “deserve” to be over .500.

All Tied Up

Boston and Baltimore enter the week tied for first place in the American League East with the same 36-26 records. The Red Sox have the vastly superior run differential (+86 to +25), however, the Orioles have taken four of the seven head to head meetings this year. One thing is for certain and that’s the tie will be no more after Thursday because the teams play three games at Fenway Park, starting Tuesday.

Pitching Notes

* I’ve got to go back to Kyle Hendricks this week as despite pitching for the Cubs and possessing the third best WHIP in all of baseball (0.94), his team start record is only 5-6, resulting in a loss of 5.6 units for bettors. Lately, he’s been even better with a 0.682 WHIP his last three starts, but still came out on the losing end against the Phillies on Tuesday. Hendricks will start the opener of the aforementioned series with Washington on Monday.

* Two pitchers that you’ve hopefully stayed away from this year will be toeing the rubber Monday. One is Atlanta’s Aaron Blair, who has a 1-7 TSR, 7.13 ERA and 1.840 WHIP. He’ll likely go off as a favorite, mind you, as he faces the Reds at home. The second is James Shields, who was booed off the mound in his White Sox debut last week. Giving up seven runs in just two innings leaves Shields with a 2-10 TSR.

Hitting Notes

* It’s been a terrible season so far for the Twins, but Joe Mauer has proven himself to be as reliable as ever. The former MVP has now reached base safely in 24 straight games.

* Jose Bautista is expected back in the lineup for Toronto on Monday vs. Philadelphia, most likely in the role of designated hitter. He has missed the last three games due to a sore thigh. In his place Ezequiel Carrera did well, hitting leadoff and going 4-12 at the plate with a hit in every game.

Totals Trend

The Dodgers and Diamondbacks hook up this week for a three-game series. The only previous series between the two teams this year saw all three games stay Under. Clayton Kershaw is scheduled to pitch on Wednesday.

Monday's Weather Report

* There is a chance of thunderstorms and a 25 percent chance of rain in Atlanta tonight where the Braves will welcome the Cincinnati Reds. The total for this one is set at 9.0.

* The White Sox are hosting the Detroit Tigers on the south side of Chicago tonight and there may be a few thunderstorms making their way through the area. There is also a 25 percent chance of rain and a 5-10 mph wind blowing in from right field. The total is set at 9.5.

* It will also be warm and muggy in Kansas City where the Royals are hosting the Cleveland Indians. There is a chance of a thunderstorm, a 30 percent chance of rain, and a 10 mph breeze blowing out to left. The total for this one is currently 8.0.

* It looks like we're going to have ourselves a hitter's wind at AT&T Park in San Francisco tonight where the Giants are hosting the Milwaukee Brewers. The current forecast is calling for a 25-30 mph wind blowing straight out to center field. The current total is 7.5.

Armadillo: Tuesday's six-pack

-- Cavaliers 112, Warriors 97-- Now we know who the Warriors' MVP is.

-- NBA teams up 3-1 in the Finals are 32-0 in those series; last time there was even a Game 7 when a team led 3-1 was back in 1966.

-- First half of the NBA game last night was highest scoring first half in a finals' game since a Lakers-Celtics game in 1987.

-- Eagles signed Fletcher Cox to a 6-year deal with $63M of guaranteed money, the most guaranteed money ever given to a non-quarterback.

-- Dodgers released Carl Crawford, eat $35M in money they still owe him. Oy.

-- Jason Kidd gets a 3-year, $15M extension from the Milwaukee Bucks.

Armadillo: Tuesday's List of 13: Happy Armadillo Day, everyone......

Hard to believe it has been fifteen years since I started this little endeavor; so much has changed since then, both around here and in the world. It was three months before the 9/11 attacks-- I thought about shuttering this site when 9/11 happened and the world took a week off to mourn that fateful day. I'm glad I didn't.

So no list today, just a few thoughts on things that crossed my mind today:

-- Do things you enjoy; life is too short not to.
-- Be nice to people, especially those who don't deserve it.
-- If there are things you've always wanted to do but haven't done, find a way to do them. Don't put them off. When your time comes, you don't want any regrets.
-- Learning to deal with failure and learning to accept praise are equally important.

-- Laughter relaxes the muscles in your body.
-- You never really lose until you stop trying.
-- There is no such thing as bad pizza, though some is better than others.
-- Making someone else smile should make you smile, too.
-- Tell people close to you that you love them, before it is too late.

I've been really lucky in my life; I've been to a World Series game, was in St Louis the day the Rams won an NFC title, was an assistant coach on two state championship high school basketball teams. I was raised in a positive environment and taught things that have served me well in life.

I've made friends from people reading this site and then sending me an e-mail. You never have enough friends in this world.

As we start Year 16 here, there is a lot more to do. Hopefully this site will finally get a new design soon that is long overdue. Maybe I'll even post pictures someday.

Thanks to you the readers; it means a lot that you log in every day. Enjoy.

LEADING OFF: Ichiro 1 hit shy of Rose; Collins back on bench
June 14, 2016

A look at what's happening all around the majors today:

A NEW HIT KING?

Ichiro Suzuki is one hit shy of matching Pete Rose's total of 4,256 - the major league record. The 42-year-old Marlins outfielder has 2,977 hits in the big leagues after compiling 1,278 during nine seasons in Japan. Suzuki had three hits Monday night in a 13-4 win over San Diego to raise his batting average to .350 this season. ''It's really cool to be a part of this and what he has done this year,'' Miami manager Don Mattingly said. Mattingly, however, declined to say if the left-handed-hitting Suzuki would be in the lineup Tuesday night against lefty starter Drew Pomeranz and the Padres. ''We're trying to win ballgames, too,'' the manager said with a smile.

FEELING BETTER

Terry Collins is expected back on the bench when his Mets host the Pirates in a matchup of 2015 NL playoff teams. The 67-year-old Collins, the oldest manager in the majors, was hospitalized in Milwaukee last weekend. He felt sick before Sunday's loss to the Brewers and was held overnight at Froedtert Hospital in nearby Wauwatosa. The Mets said Monday tests on Collins were negative and he was cleared to fly home.

MAD TALENTED

Madison Bumgarner (7-2, 1.88 ERA) has welcomed chatter about his big bat by making a plea to participate in the All-Star Home Run Derby, but his arm has been impressive lately, too. The Giants left-hander is 5-0 with a 0.96 ERA over his last eight starts and trails only Clayton Kershaw and Jake Arrieta on the major league ERA leaderboard. Bumgarner faces Milwaukee right-hander Matt Garza, making his season debut after recovering from a back injury.

LUCKY NUMBER SEVEN?

Ike Davis joins the Yankees after signing with New York on Monday and is set to become the team's seventh first baseman this season whenever he makes his debut. With Mark Teixeira, Greg Bird, Dustin Ackley and Chris Parmelee on the disabled list, the job had fallen to rookie second baseman Rob Refsnyder, a right-handed contact hitter lacking middle-of-the-order power. Davis, who bats from the left side, hit 32 homers with the Mets in 2012 but has just 23 since, including three in 74 games with the A's last season. He was hitting .268 with four homers for the Rangers' Triple-A team at Round Rock before being released Sunday. Davis' father, Ron, pitched for the Yankees from 1978-81 and made an All-Star team with them. New York begins a two-game series in Colorado.

400 AND COUNTING

Cubs right-hander John Lackey (7-2, 2.63 ERA) makes his 400th career start against NL East-leading Washington. Bartolo Colon (479) and CC Sabathia (462) are the only other active major leaguers with as many starts. The 37-year-old Lackey has been around so long, his history against the Nationals franchise dates back to June 5, 2003, when he faced Montreal as a member of the Anaheim Angels.

THE RETURN ARRIVES

Zach Eflin makes his major league debut for the Phillies against Toronto about a year and a half after he was acquired from the Dodgers for aging shortstop Jimmy Rollins. The right-hander was drafted 33rd overall by San Diego in 2012 and had a 2.90 ERA in 11 starts at Triple-A this season. Rollins was designated for assignment by the Chicago White Sox last week. Eflin faces Marcus Stroman (5-2, 4.94 ERA), chosen 11 spots ahead of Eflin in the 2012 draft.

UNBEATABLE

Orioles right-hander Chris Tillman (8-1, 3.01 ERA) has won seven straight decisions and puts his streak on the line against Boston. Tillman hasn't lost since April 14, and Baltimore is 9-1 in his last 10 starts. The Red Sox send out left-hander David Price (7-3, 4.63).
