Also for people that shrug shit like this off like ah who cares no where near nazi germany etc....

you must realize that the growth of commufascism is a slow process....and baby steps are taken by government over the course of time slowly but surely pushing the envelope getting the masses used to more intrusion into their lives and stripping away their freedoms

i'm not saying we heading for a nazi germany type setup or anything either

but the general trend in this country we heading on is obvious to anybody paying attention and that trend is not good for those that enjoy privacy, individualism, liberty, and freedom and dislike big government

Rahmbo….You never want a serious crisis to go to waste. And what I mean by that is an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before.

milton friedman a libertarian said the same thing

the problem is what are those in power do once the crisis hits.....

in this case rahmbo and company are pushing commufascism....just as dubya (i should say cheney) and company pushed commufascism using 9/11 as the crisis.....

until republicans wake up and start supporting ron paul types we will continue down the path of more commufascism

These events allegedly took place on "Good Friday", so it's now almost seven weeks and absolutely no verification of the story in the San Diego Union Tribune - one of the nation's most conservative newspapers.

What exactly is your point?

No point. I was amused with your frication with Zit and got a laugh at QL’s disclaimer post and replied. Nothing more, nothing less.

If you believe there was a sinister motive behind my post you need not be, just having a good chuckle.

Okay. I had wondered if one of us might have misunderstood something.

by the way every liberal should watch that milton friedman video....if you do please tell me how he's wrong

love how he talks about how over the course of mankind we always tend to go towards collectivism which leads to tyranny and such...spot fucking on.....and is exactly what is happening in the US today and has been happening for a long time now....he saw it coming for a long time

just pure brillance.....if only somebody with any political clout that actually cared about the people of this country could speak as clearly and concisely their positions as he could....that's ron paul's downfall he can't explain himself all that well and rants too much....

I never claimed all your thread titles are inflammatory. But it's a fact that your newest two threads, the only ones I got to read recently (California=Nazi Germany and 35 states vs. Obama) both have very inappropriate titles. Combined with what I know from you in the past this is enough to keep my opinion about you - that you are completely agenda-driven.

Actually I think the title is great, and I'm glad I used it.

Hyperbole can be a useful tool for facilitating discussion.

We've got some good discussion going in this thread, and that
was my motive.

Perhaps Zit should have had a disclaimer:

"California Turning into Nazi Germany"

(Disclaimer: thread title is in reference to fascists in power of Germany during its Nazi period and not intended to be reflective of any Germans past or present who did not subscribe to fascist doctrines.)

Pastor David Jones and his wife Mary have been told that they cannot invite friends to their San Diego, Calif. home for a Bible study — unless they are willing to pay tens of thousands of dollars to San Diego County.
"On Good Friday we had an employee from San Diego County come to our house, and inform us that the Bible study that we were having was a religious assembly, and in violation of the code in the county." David Jones told FOX News.
"We told them this is not really a religious assembly — this is just a Bible study with friends. We have a meal, we pray, that was all," Jones said.
A few days later, the couple received a written warning that cited "unlawful use of land," ordering them to either "stop religious assembly or apply for a major use permit," the couple's attorney Dean Broyles told San Diego news station 10News.
But the major use permit could cost the Jones' thousands of dollars just to have a few friends over.
For David and Mary Jones, it's about more than a question of money.
"The government may not prohibit the free exercise of religion," Broyles told FOX News. "I believe that our Founding Fathers would roll over in their grave if they saw that here in the year 2009, a pastor and his wife are being told that they cannot hold a simple Bible study in their own home."
"The implications are great because it’s not only us that’s involved," Mary Jones said. "There are thousands and thousands of Bible studies that are held all across the country. What we’re interested in is setting a precedent here — before it goes any further — and that we have it settled for the future."
The couple is planning to dispute the county's order this week.
If San Diego County refuses to allow the pastor and his wife to continue gathering without acquiring a permit, they will consider a lawsuit in federal court.

I strongly disagree with using exaggerations (to put it mildly) to create interest, one of the reaosns I despise the Yellow Press.

In order to have a fruitful discussion about the subject at hand it is, imho, necessary to know the law that is invoked here. Does anybody know it and could post it here (or a link)?

Statement yesterday from Walt Ekard, chief administrative officer for San Diego County: “Let me be clear: religious intolerance in any form is not, and never will be, allowed under any circumstance in San Diego County government. I deeply regret that a routine code enforcement issue has transformed into a debate over religious freedom in San Diego County.”

You Know who's really happy about this

Hmm... since you are so opposed to such abhorrent concepts
like hyperbole, I'm sure you will be militant to comment on instances
on both sides of the political spectrum.

If hyperbole is used in a way that does not make it obvious that the statement is not meant to be taken literally in any way (or that it voluntarily exaggerates the size of the problem) then yes, I detest it, no matter from what side it comes.
