Shaq was a monster and great control of his size, which most guys his size do not have

his thinner days

Huskies ate him up and spit him out in his last college game, with a 6'9" center named Rod Sellers

maybe of few more coaches should have watched Jim Calhoun's game plan for him

:)

it's no longer Jesus Shuttlesworth my friend, he's now known as Judas Shuttlesworth

How dare you New Englander's talk about Jesus that way, you of all people Willie. He helped put your program on the map and don't give me no Tate George Bullshit. 1996 Big East Tournament, I know you remember. Now, if the rest of us NFL fans could have teams tape walkthroughs like Bill Bellicheat.

Unfortunately, this part is true. MJ is a prick. A friend of mine works for Jimmy Sexton (pippen's agent), my buddy was Scott's main point person for Jimmy. He said they were out one night and some chick wanted to order MJ a drink, this ass hole orders the most expensive bottle of wine on the menu $1100 and bills the woman. What a fucking dick.

Thats about the 100th story I have heard like that about MJ.

But yet people love him.

I dont understand.
LJ is a great guy by all accounts.

Every once in a while he will make a dumb innocent comment that people take the wrong way and it blows up in his face.

Like the "taking my talents to Miami" thing.

I don't think he meant to be a prick about that.

From everything I have heard LJ is a really good person on and off the court.

He is married to his high school girlfriend.
I have a lot of respect for people like that.

Deep down this is one of the reasons I pull for LJ.
I just like him as a person.

That goes a long way.

No it would not be team dependent.
Just from the talent standpoint.

I am the GM of an expansion team in year 1 with no players on the roster.
The first personel move I make is choosing between a 19y old LJ over a 19y old MJ.

Pipen don't come with MJ
DWADE don't come with LJ.

Then you take Lebron, no question.

I don't have a problem with that, he made the boys and girls clubs $3M. Hell, I am from Cleveland, if you don't want to leave there, there is something wrong with you.

I love Ray Ray, I hate the Heat

Jim Calhoun put UConn on the map, and after the dream season of 89/90 we landed a class of Donyell Marshall, Donny Marshall, Kevin Ollie, Travis Knight, Brian Fair and that started a tradition. Ray joined the next year, coming to UConn a 50+ recruit.

I would suggest the Maker of Men made him the player he is today, instilling that undeniable work ethic

PS: as for the 1996 BET, I was there. Ray Ray over AI. We were trailing by 10 with 3 or 4 minutes left

That goes a long way.

he kicked his hometown in the nuts with the way he handled himself

he blamed the fallout on racism

he said he should have won a defensive player of the year award when somebody else won it

he aligned himself with two other star free agents and they shopped their services together, something unprecedented in American sports

not 1, not 2, not 3, not 4, not 5, not 6, not 7 (I'm sorry, people don't like that shit)

he's a moaner, he's a poser, and he's the most protected player in the league

having said all that, he appears to be and upstanding family man, I and like that above all else. But I still hate the Heat

Chop I have to disagree about Lebron's character.

He puts on a good show most of the time so ppl will portray him in a positive way.

He lost my respect the times he mocked/made fun of other players' injuries, one being Dirk Nowitzki.

I lost all respect for him after those incidents & although I may be wrong, I honestly believe he's a prick when not in the publics eye...

The Decision was just 1 of the dumbest decisions of all time.

The 1-2-3-4 was pretty dumb too but in his defense that was moreso supposed to be like a pep rally for the Heats fans and the team decided it would be cool to put it on youtube and their website, it went viral and rest is history.

Obviously Miami has a rep as being a plastic, touristy city with no sports tradition. I think that aspect turned people off too. If he just went NY or Chicago he wouldn't have taken that type of backlash.

Lets pretend that we would all know beforehand what both players would do.
Time machine style.

If I draft a 19year old LJ over a 19 year old MJ should I be fired?

ok, and every nfl gm would take a 20 year old drew henson over tom brady. What's your point?

He didn't make fun of Dirk Nowitzki being hurt. He made fun of him for saying he had a cold and who cares.

You got Rick Mahorn in your avatar and that offends you?

What is worse, making fun of an opponent for having a cold or punching a teammate in the face?

Another thing I believe people are over playing is the "Athletes are bigger, stronger, and faster now".

I do believe we've seen that, but mainly in the 80 ' and 90's.
Since them I don't think so much.

We dont see any greater number of players jumping like Dominique, Shawn Kemp, Spud Webb, etc.

We don't see any greater number of players running 4.4 40's.

You can't take one guy like Lebron who is unlike any other players out there, then and NOW, and use that as an argument of this bigger & faster theory.

If any of that were true, we'd be seeing MORE Great 7 ft NBA centers, not to the point of ZERO compared to the last 1-2 decades when there were several.

If any of that were true, we'd see plenty of Bo Jacksons, Deion Sanders, and Darrell Greens.

That theory is so blown out of proportion. ..

That's just funny guys...

Most of you aren't old enough to have seen Wilt. Huge, strong. & very athletic. Track, Vb, & hoops, a battle for position in the paint between he and Shaq would be earth shattering.

Guys are bigger, faster, stronger now.

You aren't really debating that are you?

If you looked at NFL combine stats from 1988 vs now as far as tests of strength, speed and agility it isn't even close.

Give me this starting 5....and people could make a case for a number of people at center

Guards
Magic
Jordan

Forwards
Bird
LeBron

Center
Russell

with those other four Bill Russell will serve his purpose defensively and rebounding wise....There is plenty of scoring above lol

Yours in Winners
BernieV

****a case could be made at center with the Dream, Jabbar, Shaq Daddy, and Wilt but Russell would be on many at the top of that list

****many talked about the difference between Bird and LeBron, both are two of the greatest forwards ever for sure but Bird was better in two categories, Bird was a much better passer and more importantly in crunch time Bird wanted the ball. The knock on LeBron is at crunch time and in key situations he passes it off. Huge difference

I haven't seen him play and that's why I won't hold judgement on how he measures up to all those after him
But I have seen boty MJ and Lebron play , and I love & respect all of my fellow posters on here, but for anyone to make the claim that Lebron is a greater player than Jordan just makes absolutely no sense to me.

Only thing I can think is they need a refresher and need to go back and watch most of his footage again...
