Today marks the start of the World Series. Mets vs Royals in what could very well be a "fall classic"
The Mets come into the World Series off a long break after steam rolling the Cubs in the NLCS. Their pitching was excellent and they found ways to get base runners inning after inning, which lead to run production. My concern is that they had a little too much time off and I could see them coming out a bit flat. The good news is that Matt Harvey will take the mound for them tonight coming off nine days rest and sporting a record of 3-1 in interleague play. These two teams have not met since 2013 and Harvey has never faced the Royals.
As for the Royals, they enter this series coming off an emotional yet draining series against the Jays. Volquez will get the ball tonight in game 1 after recording one solid outing and one poor outing against the Jays. Volquez is 2-5 in his career against the Mets posting a 5.70 ERA over 9 starts, making him still tough to trust. I give the Royals and edge in their bullpen and playoff experience. Their players have openly said this years playoff run has been much easier than last year.
