He can argue (not convincingly) that bench press and shoulder shrugs enabled him to get so big that he went from a size 42 jersey to a size 52.

But how does he explain this: His head grew from size 7 1/8 to 7 3/4.

Or this: His feet grew from size 10 1/2 to size 13.

It's probably just a coincidence that one of the side effects of human growth hormone is believed to be growth of the cranium and extremities. The increases in Bonds' body parts were recently revealed by authors Lance Williams and Mark Fainaru-Wada in an afterword they included in the newly released paperback version of their ground-breaking book, "Game of Shadows," which chronicles Bonds' steroid use.

THIS IS YOUR SWAN SONG ??? THIS PROVES IT ALL ?? Two Jerkoff knucklehead writers trying to sell some wood ?? ... Ive never heard of his feet growing 2.5 inches and I dont believe it ... unless I saw it with my own two eyes , I dont buy it , i dont believe it ... its bushleague bullshit designed to sell books , every asshole writer comes up with some cockememy catch to get the people in the store ... and Im sure this is none the less.

Heres the article from Esteemed newspaper the Deseretnews

Maybe Barry Bonds can argue that weightlifting, not drugs, accounted for his weird, middle-aged home-run barrage and freaky body makeover, as he has maintained.
He can argue (weakly) that squats and power cleans enabled him to hit nearly 300 home runs after his 35th birthday and added 30 pounds to his skinny frame.
There are a lot of exercises that make your muscles bigger, but there aren't any that increase the size of your head and feet.
Anyone for a set of head presses?
A few reps of foot cleans?
How does he explain an increase in his hat size — and this despite shaving his head bald?
"I expanded my mind, man," he could say. "I've been reading the Harvard Classics. You can gain a hat size just by reading Shakespeare and the Elizabethan dramas."
The increases Bonds made would be mind-boggling at any age, but for a middle-aged man, it's more like science fiction. It's straight out of the Incredible Hulk. Sure, a lot of men make increases in size as they age — in their waistline.
Among the reported effects of middle age: loss of hair, loss of muscle mass, weight gain, sore knees, diminished eyesight. So far no one has mentioned anything about a larger dome.
The book is just part of the overwhelming case against Bonds that seems to get bigger and bigger, like his head.
But he's still playing baseball.
Bonds will return next month, at the age of 42, and resume his pursuit of baseball's hallowed career home run record. He needs 22 to overtake Henry Aaron, who, by the way, was 6-foot, 180 pounds — 50 pounds lighter than Bonds.
It's a race against time. The game's purists hope a strong enough case can be built against Bonds to stop him before he catches Aaron.
Meanwhile, you have to wonder what they're waiting for. If Bonds jammed a needle into his rump while standing in the batter's box, would that be enough evidence? What does a guy have to do to get busted in baseball?
Bonds' name turned up in the BALCO records, along with several other athletes (some of whom were punished by their sports).
His ex-girlfriend tattled on him in "Game of Shadows," a well-documented and researched book that leaves the reader convinced of Bonds' guilt (the slugger has never refuted any of the book's facts).
The book prompted baseball Commissioner Bud Selig to launch an investigation into steroid use, headed by former Sen. George Mitchell, but after nearly a year nothing much has happened.
Bonds recently refused to cooperate with the glacially slow investigation, which sounds a lot like Mark McGwire stalling in front of Congress, without the public outcry.
Bonds himself is being investigated by a federal grand jury for possible perjury for testifying in 2003 that he had never intentionally taken steroids.
Bonds has never flunked a steroid test, but neither did Tim Montgomery and Chryste Gaines, who were both banned from track and field based on evidence from the BALCO scandal.
Some defend Bonds by claiming that baseball did not prohibit steroids prior to 2002. But in 1991, Fay Vincent, who was the baseball commissioner at the time, sent a league memo stating that any player caught using illegal drugs, including steroids, could be punished. This occurred shortly after the federal government classified steroids as a controlled substance, making it illegal to sell, distribute or use them without a prescription.
Somehow, that hasn't been enough to stop Bonds. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that something stinks about the slugger. (Maybe it takes a guy with a big head.)

<HR width=250>

Obviously the asshole that wrote this article is as jealous , bias , and predjudice over Bonds as the rest of you ... You guys are watching greatness and generations later our grandchildren will be talking in awe about Barry Bonds the way we speculate about Williams and Ruth ...

I'm not even saying he's innocent. I'm pretty sure he took something at some point, but my bitch is that everybody is attacking Barry when it's clear that alot of MLB players are on something. Why do all of them get a clean slate and Bonds gets killed. Is it because Barry is chasing a record? Look at it this way. If players have been taking roids or hgh since the early to mid 90's which is were it is being predicted to have started. than Bonds hit a ton of those home runs off pitchers that were cheating as well. Lets just say that 25% of players juice. Which I would say is a way low number. But if it is 25% than that would mean that of Bonds 568 home runs from 1993 to now, 142 of them would have been off pitchers that were cheating as well. And don't give me pitchers dont take them, because as of June 7 of last year 111 players have been suspended for steroids and of those 52% were pitchers. So actually an overwhemling majority of players caught have been pitchers. Curt Schilliing has testified that he has seen pitchers leave in october throwing 91 MPH and come back in April throwing 96 MPH. Remember a guy named Tom House. He was the guy that caught Aarons 715th home run. He was also a pitcher. He is also on record saying that he took steroids thoughout his career, and knows several other players that did as well. And that was in the 1970's.

Only people who really care that he breaks the record are blindly devouted Giant fans, and ESPN. Rest of the country knows him for what he is - a cheat and a fraud. Reminds me of all the Pete Rose HOF believers. :missingte
Ever so true. Real fan's have respect for the natural player's, not cheater's.. Like one poster said, ruth did it on hot dog's and beer....

Rupert Pupkin - that list in your 1st post were by athletes who did those accomplishments in their prime (25-30 years-old). When you have one of the all-time seasons at age 36 and after, you tell me. Can't beat Father Time without a syringe.

I will say players take much better care to prolong their careers, look at Julio Franco at 48.

I'm curious: what's your position on Clemens and juice?

I don't blame him for hating the media. I'd be the same way if I was badgered 24/7.

the media has a very good reason to badger him.

As to the bonds being the greatest ever might be the most humerous thing i have ever heard.

1. RUTH BATTED .342 CAREER bonds has .299 career avg.
2. RUTH WAS A HELL OF A PITCHER (CAREER RECORD OF 89-46) bonds has a rag arm in the outfield
3. BABE RUTH HIT 714 HOME RUNS ON HAMBURGERS AND BEER bonds hit 745 home runs on HGH
4. BABE RUTH HAS A CAREER .690 SLUGGING PERCENTAGE bonds .610
5. BABE RUTH HIT A HOME RUN EVERY 11.76 AB bonds hit one every 12.86 AB (true way to determine greatest home run hitter under reasonable circumstances)
6. BABE RUTH HAD 2211 RBI bonds has 1952 RBI
7. RUTH HAD 2873 HITS IN 2503 GAMES bonds has 2866 hits in 2888 games
8. BABE RUTH'S NICKNAMES: SULTAN OF SWAT, GREAT BAMBINO, COLOSSOUS OF CLOUT bonds nickname:CHEATIN SON OF A BITCH
9. RUTH'S WORLD SERIES NUMBERS: .326 AVG. 15HR 33RBI AS A PITCHER 3-0 0.87ERA i think bonds has only sniffed at one world series

RUTH'S CHAMPIOSHIPS= 7
BONDS CHAMPIOSHIPS= 0

Suck on that Barry Bonds fans...not only does this displace the statement that Bonds is the greatest player ever, it is makes the statement that he is the greatest hitter ever seem foolish as well. Quit thinking that Barry Bonds is the greatest ever. He cannot hold Babe Ruth's jockstrap

There is not really anything else to argue

I'm not a Doctor and I've never seen a positive test from Barry Bonds so I don't feel I am qualified to pass judgment on him therefore Seeing how I'm not a Doctor and without seeing a positive Test I'll have to accept that he's clean.

Are any of you guys doctors who have seen a positive test from Barry Bonds? If not I am assuming you are just speculating and Speculation is not evidence.

Go Barry Go

Ruth never faced Blacks or Latins or Japanese...Like others have said it's impossible to compare players of different eras.
Barry Bonds would kill in the 1920s if he didn't get killed for being Black.
Babe Ruth in 2000's would be no better than Cecil Felder maybe David Ortiz

If its true, I put him in the same catagory as Bonds, Sosa, McGuire, Sheffield, Giambi, Canseco, and others. No one really knows the effects with pitchers. The case withe the NY Mets clubhouse and steroids will answer some questions soon.

One thing to remember about Ruth’s accomplishments is that he was doing it when there weren’t a lot of homerun hitters. In 1927 Ruth hit 60 homeruns, Cincinnati as a whole team only hit 29. Ruth hit twice as many homeruns than an entire team. Hold on…pause…let me say that again. Ruth hit TWICE as many homeruns than an entire team. This is why it is stupid to compare players from different eras.

It has been said that Babe Ruth saved baseball after the Black Sox scandal, and now it can also be said that Barry Bonds is seriously tarnishing baseball. When he broke the single season homerun record his teammates didn’t even come out of the dug out to congratulate him. Just face it…the guy is an ass.

Whose to say Bonds makes it to 54?

Bonds might make it to 54 this year ( in Homers that is ... hes on pace for that ....)

And BigPig 19 , How old are you 95 ?? Did you ever SEE RUTH PLAY ?? I didnt think so ... If you my read posts carefully I said .... Bonds is the greatest we've ever SEEN .... ( apologies to any 90 year old posters who have seen Ruth play ) .... I love how everybody is sucking the Babes balls considering he's been dead 50 years and retired in 1938 and whose glory years were during the Great Depression .... Golly gee , I heard Jesse James had a hell of a fast ball too ... but its just a rumor.

Bonds is the Now , He's what Happening NOW , This is 2007 and Barry Bonds is as close to Ruth as anybody on this planet has ever seen ...

I knew a guy who knew a guy , who knew a guy who said Bonds once hit an 800 foot Homer in Batting Practice !!!!! 800 feet , are you kidding me !! Amazing !! , Of course its just speculation and heresay, but I believe it 100 % , no questions asked ... Cause we are afterall talking about Barry US Bonds.

I also Heard Bonds in college could run a 3.8 40 before he hurt his knee ( its heresay and speculation of course , but I know its true.)

So you see guys I have from reliable sources ( Heresay and speculation ) that Barry Bonds is undeniably the greatest any of us have ever seen.

Whats the proof of him doing steroids again ?... ( oh yea Heresay and speculation .. I'd like to meet those two guys sometime .. can you setup a meeting ??)

Ahhhh, so naive.....

First they say "We think he was on the juice..... but he's the GREATEST!"..... uhhhhh, the mere fact that he cheated nullifies his supposed greatness. I guess then you'll agree that Ben Johnson was the greatest sprinter of all time.

"But he hit 73* HOMERUNS!!!!!!" Yeah, that's the most ever hit by someone on steroids. But in his PRIME, without roids, this guy couldn't even break 50. He wouldn't even be top 35 in HRs (single season) of all time.

"He never tested positive for steroids!!!!" That's true..... but none of Balco's other clients ever tested positive either. I guess they're missing the point of *The Clear™*

But couple of Balco clients were suspended by their sports on the mere fact that their files were found at the lab. Which just happens to be far less damning evidence than Bonds admitting to the grand jury that he did use their products, "unknowingly." <wink, wink>

"You never saw Babe Ruth play so he's not the greatest!!!!!!!" Yeah well, no one saw Jesus resurrected or turn water in to wine, but there are billions of people who worship him. No one here has seen Jackie Robinson play either, so I guess a day in his honor was a total waste of time. And no one here saw George Washington cross the Delaware and win the Revolutionary War.... so why should he be the father of our country?

"Ruth never faced black, asian & latin players"..... which is probably a bad thing, since he'd have more HRs. I mean look at how many HRs Bonds has hit off Chan Ho Park alone. But then again, Ruth never injected his ass with performance enhancing drugs.
