Does anyone know whether the Horseshoe still has those delicious hand sliced corned beef sandwiches that the original Horseshoe had? I'll be in Vegas this coming week and would love to sink my teeth into one. If not I'll have to go to one of those New York Deli's at Caesedrs or somewhere.

Don't know the actual name of the restaurant, but the restaurant at the Orleans has UNBELIEVABLE crablegs for a reasonable price all you can eat.

Great thread guys! I'm still a newbie here in Vegas, and I had actually been wondering where some of the good places to eat were. Thanks guys!

Also looking for a good Pizza specifically. I tried calling up a place called "Metro Pizza" that was supposed to be good, but they wanted a 10 dollar delivery charge, and I'm less than 6 miles away from them and on the same damn street! I told them to shove it, so I still need to find a decent pizza in town (hopefully that will deliver to me).

Great thread--

I love Fatburger but Fishead turned me on to the burger at Paris--incredible bread.

Michaels and Hugo are my favorite restaurants and love Batista's.

Metro is the right place Omni, I go all the time. Never heard of a 10 dollar delivery charge. They do a good job of the different regional pizzas.

The deli at the Mirage is excellent.... it's on the way out of the casino going to Ceasars.... sandwiches are huge.

But I'll take the Palms as one of my all time faves in Vegas... :toast:

Where's a good steak and lobster special to replace the $11.99 one at the Stardust?

Vegas really may have the best restaurants in the world barring New York and Rome, Italy.

What part of the world have you been to? Saying things like this is really sad when you haven't been all the place around the world, a lot of people are going to disagreed with you on this.

I forgot to mention, the best lunch value by far, not a buffet, is the 18 dollar buisness mans special at the Palms Steak House in Ceasers Fourm.

They have 8 choices which includes your salad or soup, plus your softdrink.

The 8 oz filet migion with your choice of potato is the best value by far, since they charge 33 for the same size at dinner, ala cart no less.

You also get the Fish special of the day, the special of the day and whatever else they choose from the regular menu.

You cant even sit down in the Palms for 18 bucks at dinner. Drinks start at 10 bucks damn near, certainly for anything decent like Tequilla Anejo or something.

Just read in the DRF today that Harrah's finally got the Barbary Coast from Boyd, who bought out and merged with Coast several years back. So Michael's(obviously named after old Coast chairman, Michael Gaughan) is moving to the South Coast, which will officially change names to South Point next Wed, and will be reunited with owner Michael Gaughan.

They sure need it because the South Coast is pretty lousy in service and the food hasn't been overwhelming so far. Gaughan has a lot of work to do, but he is certainly the man for the job. The Coast team though made a real mistake thinking cookie cutter was the way to go as Station's has shown in its last few editions that they will be anything but cookie cutter going forward with new locations.

That would be fantastic. My lunch at Portillos was one of the highlights of a past Chicago trip. When you get beef sandwich here it is invariably a French Dip.

Lotus of Siam is indeed one of the best Thai restaurants outside Thailand. I usually get straight off my flight and take a taxi to LoS before even checking into my hotel. However you need to be careful to order off the special one sheet menu of northern Thai specilaties rather than using the main menu.

Whatever you do, do not have the buffet. If you do you are doing the equivalent of going to a Michelin two star restaurant and asking for a McDonalds.

The food at LoS can be very hot, especially for American palates. They ask you for how hot from 1 to 10 (make sure they do ask otherwise it will be a 1 or a 2) and I usually go for a 5. I have had one dish as a 10 and it was pretty mouth numbing. Not really worth it.

Elsewhere I think the Chinese food in Noodles in the Bellagio is excellent. Many of the Chinese high rollers I know in Vegas say it is top class, for that sort of canteen dining. If only I could get their recipe for the sweet and sour cucumbers...

A long way off the tourist route is Rosemary's, which is about ten million miles west on Sahara. A good $30 cab ride from the Bellagio. Excellent food, very friendly service but get there on time otherwise you will face a long wait for your table (as we found out). You do need a reservation.

I have been staying off and on at the Las Vegas Hilton since 1975. There steakhouse is excellent, and some of the staff has been there for 30 years. If your looking for an easy comp, go give Casino Royale some action, and you will end up with a free meal upstairs at Outback Steakhouse. Good Luck

Pertillos is domianant. I am from Chicago and always go a couple of times when I go back in July.

Bill Nevin hit in on the head with LoS. I up to number 4 myself, but I perfer the King and Thai over LoS, its the best in town and the Mary and Trop store has the best atmosphere. If you speak the language you can get whatever it is you can pronounce correctly, seved to you. Good luck getting the chef to understand you. (inside joke).

Chicago Pizza people go to Aurellios and get the Super 6.
