..........and this is one of the easier places to get a comp to from the race and sports book.

Dont be afraid to ask, you have NOTHING to lose.

Also, if you play for 3-4 hours in the poker room, you can score a nice comp for there also.

Little tidbit on the 4.95 steak dinner Fezzik recommended.

Make sure you ask the waitress for your free $5 BJ matchplay with your dinner.

This has a face value or roughly $2.40 so you just basically cut the cost of your 4.95 dinner in half.

Also, if they still have it, you can play their full-pay double bonus video poker and get on their mailing list for free cash and at the very least their free coupons for a slice of pizza and microbrew every Wednesday.

Obviously I haven't gone to enough places in Vegas to say this is THE best, but the best meal I have ever had was at "Mon Ami Gabi" at the Paris. The filet mignon there was unbelievable. We went two days in a row despite there being so many restaurants to choose from.

Nice work Fish, love your posts.

Right back at you re: CPK. Try to get a Buffet for 2. Once you have it, come back later and ask to upgrade to CPK. It almost always works.

If possible,

1) Get a Buffet for 2 'for breakfast'
2) Go back and upgrade to CPK in the pm
3) Go to town for Dinner. The record for 'two' is $134.

In and Out Burger rules. They have none of those in Georgia. Also Fatburger in Vegas is good.

Best palce I ever ate though (before the IRS) was Delmonicos at the Venetian.

One of my favorite places for value, way off the beaten path for any tourist is an Argentine cafe Rincon Buenos Aires on Spring Mountain. I keep thinking the place will go out of business, but last check still open. Great Argentine style parrilladas will run about $20 and feed two easily. Deserts are worth saving room for too.

I personally don't like too many places in the hotels, but then again I am not a gourmet eater at all. Just remember if you aren't getting comped in many cases you are subsidizing those that are getting the comps, the prices in the nicer places in town are very high. None of them are what you would call good value, just the fact that you can sample all these famous chefs in such a small area is the drawing card. It is one of those situations where if you have to ask how much it is, you probably won't think it is a good deal.

Best tip I have for visitors is to load up on the lunch buffet wherever you go and then go light for dinner. Lunch buffets are great values, even the most expensive are under $20. A really good deal is at the Orleans or the Palms, those buffets are only a notch below the best and go for about $7. That really is as good a deal as you will get these days.

No better place than Ruth's Chris steakhouse. ABSOLUTELY finest T-Bone steak anywhere.

Close 2nd is a tie between Lawry's prime rib and Morton's..

N9NE at the Palms (no, it's not a typo)...it's a Morton's Steakhouse, so you know steaks are great. Personal favorite is the S'Mores...that's right...they bring you the graham crackers and chocolate and a Sterno flame to cook your marshmallows at the table. Pretty fun thing to do in a fine restaurant...great conversation-starter for people (re: babes) at nearby tables.

Italian food...Ferraro's...I would say the osso buco can be cut with a butter knife, but honestly you don't even need a knife. It just flakes off with a fork.

As wildbill says, Orleans buffet is an overlay. I like the crawfish. Bellagio and Rio are obviously top-notch, but I really like the Paris and Aladdin buffets, too.

I would go on, but now I'm hungry and heading down to Chez Tuley for a midnight snack.

I've never heard of such attention to detail as what is mentioned here on the Ellis Island menu-

"Let us start by telling you that our Marinara sauce is made fresh daily using our very own home grown tomatoes. We hand-select each one from our garden which is located in the Dixie National Forest in Utah (where the elevation is 5,000 feet…just perfect for farming tomatoes)."

Imagine some of that marinara sauce after an appetizer such as this-

"Steamers.................................................................................................................................................. $8.95
Delicious Clams steamed in garlic white wine sauce. Served with garlic bread."

Good calls Fezzik(Hugos Cellar is stealing!), Fish, WildBill, and Wil.

Wil, that CPK definitely has the best visuals for a sickie, as you can still see the SB's lines & tv screens, also if armed with heighth & 20/20 vision see the race book, and as an added bonus if seated just right.. catch some good poker table action..plus the Key Lime Pie is made from real Key Lime Juice and shipped, & not made there.

Speaking of good sportsbook fare..Puck's Cafe next to the MGM Sportsbook..you gotta love that chopped vegetable salad!

Cafe Michelle has the best strip mall ambience around(sarcasm)..the wiseguys & the Osso Bucca are real deal though.

Andre's..dover my sole!

Nobu..sushi pellets

Dona Maria's tamales!

Gordon Biersch..brew and stuffed portabellas.

Andres, Aqua, Rosemary's, Tillerman, Lotus Of Siam, Yolies, Pieros, Pinot Brasserie, Thai Spice, Z-Tejas(better in Austin followed by a trip to Amy's Ice Cream & then Waterloo Records after..but anyways), Pink Taco, Red Square, Barbary Coast Chinese place by SB, Paymon's Med-Cafe, Celebrity Deli,etc..

Haven't been to N9NE yet, is that a Peter Morton or Charlie Palmer joint?

Ruth Chris is a better steak than Lawry or Mortons..or even Luger/Del Frisco/Shula/etc..but they all are A+

And all you guys call LV a rathole in a sandtrap..shame on you!
