Knew this would develop into a religion debate. :ohno:

But do you honestly think you are cool or hip for saying this? If you don't want to believe in God, that's your decision, but there is absolutely zero reason for this. You're pathetic dude. Hope you turn it around someday for your own sake.

The reason is to show that I have no fear of being smited by an invisible sky dictator.

As you know, or probably don't, the only unforgivable sin per the bible is to renounce the "Holy Spirit". Not only do I have no fear in renouncing this made up poltergeist, I can cheerfully tell him/her/it to SMD.

Being free from Dark Ages superstitions and Hebrew mythology is very liberating. You should try it sometime.

I honestly didn't want to cause trouble here, just wanted to stir up the pot. I obviously have my own opinions, and will share them if asked, but I also respect the well-defended opinions of others.

You're missing the point. I didn't ask that question because I was looking for an answer. I don't believe, remember?

I want to know what you think would happen.
Sure. It's pretty common for people to spew venom and hatred for things they don't believe in.

I know that I want to kick Santa Claus's ass. If you see Mr Claus, tell him that he is gonna get his.

Why is this pathetic? Probably because you dont agree.

In honor of George Carlin..............
"You know who I pray to? Joe Pesci. Joe Pesci. Two reasons; first of all, I think he's a good actor. Okay. To me, that counts. Second; he looks like a guy who can get things done. Joe Pesci doesn't fuck around. Doesn't fuck around. In fact, Joe Pesci came through on a couple of things that God was having trouble with. For years I asked God to do something about my noisy neighbor with the barking dog. Joe Pesci straightened that ****-sucker out with one visit.
I noticed that of all the prayers I used to offer to God, and all the prayers that I now offer to Joe Pesci, are being answered at about the same 50 percent rate. Half the time I get what I want. Half the time I don't. Same as God 50-50. Same as the four leaf clover, the horse shoe, the rabbit's foot, and the wishing well. Same as the mojo man. Same as the voodoo lady who tells your fortune by squeezing the goat's testicles. It's all the same; 50-50. So just pick your superstitions, sit back, make a wish and enjoy yourself."

That's what I thought.

Sorry for having to travel for work.

I believe that the way in to heaven is thru the grace of God. I'm sure scholars far more educated than I could give a better answer but, since you asked my opinion, I will tell you.

I believe that any morally correct human being can have eternal life simply thru God's grace....meaning God is powerful enough to condemn us to hell, but doesn't because we are all his children. If someone has led a good life and hasn't come to know him, thru his grace, they may go to heaven.

I don't want to come off as a bible thumper because I am far from that. I got involved in this thread due to comments that were, in my opinion, reckless and childish. Didn't mean to spark a religion war.

That's fair enough.

You do realize that a large number of your fellow Christians take this Bible verse literally:

John 14:6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
Thus, many of your ilk would arrogantly say that this Chinese Buddhist is going to hell.

Do you also realize that many Christians consider other Christians hellbound heretics as well? Ask any Fundamentalist Baptist if Catholics are going to Heaven and see what kind of answer you get.

The point is, not only are there tens of thousands of different religions, there are thousands and thousands of variations of Christianity itself, and every single one of them are convinced that they are right. Thus, what particular flavor of religion you embrace is determined by where you were born, who you were born to, and sometimes, what is convenient to you.

If I believed for a second that there was a god, I would still be pretty unimpressed with his ability to get his message out in a clear and concise manner.

Have you ever read the Bible from cover to cover with a critical eye? It is the most violent, hideous, deranged, and nonsensical piece of "literature" I have ever read. My second critical reading of this book completed my journey to non-belief. I urge you and anyone reading this to cast aside what has been pounded into your head and see this collection of writings for what it really is. Studying up on secular sources concentrating on Biblical history would reinforce your inevitable conclusions.

Unless of course you want to continue to be a drone...

So in other words, you believe that nothing created something out of nothing. I realize that for some reason, you are pissed off at God. But atheism isn't the answer, bro.

How we got here is not germane to the discussion. Saying I'm pissed off at God is asinine. Let me say it again: THERE IS NO GOD.

Think about how insane religion is, dude. You believe that a Jewish zombie who was his own dad can grant you eternal life in paradise if you symbolically eat his flesh and drink his blood and bow down to him so he can remove the taint of sin that resulted when a woman made out of a rib from a man made out of dust was convinced by a talking snake to eat a magical fruit.

People who believe this bullshit should be locked up.

If Christianity were a new religion, it would seem just as crazy as Scientology and anyone spouting this idiocy would be laughed out of town. The only reason it sounds reasonable is because we've been pounded over the head with it for 2000 years.

It's obvious that you're pissed at God. I've been pissed at God before also.....everyone has. People don't call God a lying, murderous cocksucker if they don't believe in him.

The best scientists in the world that don't allow their minds to believe in a supernatural creation.....the best thing that they can come up with is that a big bang explosion started the universe and created itself. Now I can't prove Christianity and I won't try, but if an athiest thinks long enough about how absurd his beliefs are, he will come to accept that there is zero possibility that something intelligent wasn't involved in creating the world.

I've been debating believers on the internet since there was an internet, and I've seen the "mad at god" accusation many times. You guys are like a broken record. I'm assuming they, and you, use this straw man argument because it's difficult for you to hear a view that questions your beliefs and it's easier for you to make assumptions about me rather than take on the points against believing that I make.

Again, you keep bringing up "how we got here". Just because we don't fully understand is no reason to attribute it to magic. This is the easy way out, and for those whose minds are influenced by religion, a comforting view.

Is it so hard to say, "we dont' know yet and we may never know"? Of course Christians have belived crazy things throughout history, science comes along and readjusted their believes and life goes on. Flat earth, earth the center of the universe, etc. Stop believing in magic and use your brain.

Look at your words, and ask yourself why everyone concludes that you're mad at God. I have no interest in trying to prove that there is a God. The creation is sufficient for that.

Use the brain that God gave you. Atheism is beyond absurd.

Well when you put it that way........
